Hernando Calvo Ospina Colombian journalist living in France, says that there is a network of spies who are responsible for intimidating those who defend the rights of the Colombian people and that carry information to governments like that of Alvaro Uribe.Hernando Calvo: Since Uribe became president what he did was call to form a network of one million "frogs"(spies) which are people who report to the military. After the president demanded that the network expands to international level.

There are at least 100 thousand Colombians abroad who were organized by the embassies in different countries, and they accuse the Colombians who do work for solidarity and human rights complaints. That had been doingthis , but since late last year, they had called for a large number of Colombian ambassadors, to collect in Bogota and demanded them to be more effective in the collection of information, and how to stalk these people who work for solidarity and fight for the rights and welfare of the Colombian people and also aimed at those who denounce thru the media this criminal  and narcoparamilitar regime.

Also  migrants as well were being used  who are undocumented. Embassies, taking advantage of their illegal status, they offered to  regularize if they gave information about the other Colombians. Here in France there have been some military intelligence specialists, and in particular in France are soldiers who were in "Operation Jaque", doing intelligence work against the Colombians who are here. I do not know what it says about the French government, but those military lie to say that they are here studying, because they really are working with the Colombian Embassy, looking for information of Colombians who live here. 

IN: According to the article, "The international letter of request to extradite Colombian citizens would it target civilians? HC:gerve These courts what they do is to receive the request from the Colombian government with the evidence they want to make on some Colombians living in these countries, but also on some domestic. That court did what it does is ask the police in each country the information they have about these people and from that information, the court decides whether it really is called formal investigation into these people. 

As far as I know from credible sources, the Colombian government is handing out pieces of information about people, to prevent information leaks wich are in the police hands, if someone tells the person why he is accused. EN: What is the ultimate goal of this new initiative of the Colombian government? HC: Clearly they want to end the "bands" of followers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), because it now as the government claims, all Colombia's problems are the fault of the FARC. Until even the very poverty that the Uribe government rose to 70 percent.All that is, they say, because of the FARC and not the delivery of wealth to corporations. 

There are many people who have nothing to do with the FARC and are also included in his plans to end our dissent, because for  Uribe anyone against his government, belongs to the FARC. I think it's going to be tough, because the possibility  exists wich is that everything be returned to him,  especially in the U.S. wherethere is evidence of his  relationships with drug trafficking. Remember that his father worked with the Medellin cartel, Pablo Escobar. 

EN: Do you fear for your safety and that of other Colombians who are fighting for peace in Colombia? HC: I think we have to be careful, look what these people are able to do in and outside Colombia, in Ecuador when they  bombed its territory, and Venezuela where they have infiltrated groups of military and paramilitary groups to destabilize and even to kill President Chavez. 

This government of Uribe,you can expect anything. Let us hope they do not succeed with  this brutal act, because people know our work and respect us. The truth is that we must not let these terrorists win  because that is what they are looking to do,terrorize our work, and we can not allow it, because our work is fair, and we have proof and also dignity and ethics, which  the president Uribe and his government does not have.
