Right-wing paramilitaries and drug traffickers received information thru Colombia's secret service by paying millions denounced Thursday José Narvaez, a former deputy director of intelligence of the body wich is ran by the presidency said in a statement on Thursday before the Supreme Court of Justice who is investigating a pattern of illegal spying on the lower court judges, opposition politicians and journalists, Narvaez said one of the recipients of that information was the paramilitary leader Carlos Mario Jiménez.
Jiménez, alias "Macaco," was the first of a group of 14 demobilized paramilitary leaders extradited to the United States in May 2008, with permission from the government of President Alvaro Uribe.
Uribe appeared to confirm the complaint of Narvaez, remembering that starting during his first term, in 2002, he was informed of a paramilitary plan to assassinate him. Then, he requested that the security agencies capture him. "This confirmed for us that we had achieved the insight of that crime in the State, against which we fought tirelessly from the first hours of government," said Uribe. According to Narváez, paramilitaries and drug traffickers for the information paid between $ 50,000 and $ 75,000, at current rates.
