The website The Daily Beast reports Pentagon investigators "are desperately searching" for Wikileaks' founder Julian Assange. The US believes whistleblower Bradley Manning, who was arrested two weeks ago, handed over 260,000 US diplomatic cables concerning the Middle East to Wikileaks. Due to the de-centralized nature of Wikileaks, however, simply catching Assange won’t prevent the cables from being posted on the internet.

If Assange were on US soil, he would certainly be arrested. Wikileaks has so far denied it is in possession of 260,000 diplomatic cables. The site leaked two US diplomatic cables in January, one concerning a meeting about Icesave, and another containing profiles of the Icelandic prime minister, ambassador to the US and Minister of Foreign Affairs. US intelligence hasn’t figured out how to deal with Wikileaks. A counterintelligence report called the site "a potential force protection, counterintelligence, operational security and information security threat to the US Army."
