The Federal Public Ministry in Roraima (MPF / RR) by the prosecutor Timothy Rodrigo da Costa e Silva, recommended to the National Department of Mineral Production (ANP) to declare void all mining titles granted in indigenous lands in the country and reject all applications for mineral exploration or mining claim on Indian lands, still underway in the municipality. The Constitution provides that mineral resources are property of the Union, as art. 20, which is only allowed the exploitation of mineral resources in indigenous lands, when it meet the public interest of the Union, according to the criteria defined by law. Since so far there is no legislation regulating the infra particular form of exploitation of mineral activity within the indigenous land, the MPF considers it appropriate to invalidate all titles mining on indigenous lands and still advocates the denial of all search requests mineral claim or mining on indigenous lands, still pending in DNPM
