One month after Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was toppled, leaving Gaza through the Rafah border, crossing into Egypt has actually become more difficult. From the start of the Egyptian revolution, residents of Gaza had hoped a change in the Egyptian regime would lead to the easing of restrictions at Rafah. The crossing is the only available access point and travelers say the journey through the terminal is exhausting, involving hours-long waits in the hot sun and winter rain.
