Before I begin, let me preface this by saying that my grandparents, mother and her two sisters lived in Benghazi for approx 15 years during the beginning of Ghadaffi’s rule. Many Greek, British, Italian, French, Cypriot and surrounding countrymen moved to Libya to work in the booming oil trade. While surely things have changed since then, they described Benghazi as thriving first world country void of the police state we know to be Britain and The United States.
