Religious leader holds U.S. responsible for HR violations http://www.irna.ir/ENNewsShow.aspx?NID=30287467&SRCH=1

A Pakistani religious leader on Tuesday expressed serious concerns over human rights violations by United States across the globe.Deputy Secretary General of Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan Dr Fareed Paracha also supported a report of United Nations Human Rights Council issued last year about human rights abuses in the U.S. The report by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) pointed to human rights violations and concerns regarding torture, police brutality, and wide-ranging discriminations that the U.S. government has neglected to properly address. Systematic violations of human rights by the U.S. government were detailed in the report, indicated that most violations affected African Americans, minorities, especially Muslims, and immigrant communities in the U.S. as well as abroad.

Talking to IRNA Fareed Paracha said that Muslims are the main victims of human rights violations in the United States. He urged the UN and Human Rights organizations to reveal the actual data of human rights abuses within the US. “U.S. must be made accountable for its acts”, he demanded. He added that the UN must take immediate and specific actions to ensure that human rights are effectively monitored and enforced within the United States. The JI leader strongly believed that U.S. is guilty of gross Human Rights violation in the world. “The use of torture against prisoners and detainees by military personnel in Guantanamo Bay prison, also comes under human rights violation”, said Fareed Paracha. “They (U.S.) have no right to talk about the human rights violation”, he added.

The religious leader was of the view that U.S. is patronizing the anti-Islam intrigues of Zionist, which is strongly condemnable act. Fareed Paracha said that right to life is the basic human right which was violated by U.S. in Hiroshima, Iraq and Afghanistan. “They have killed millions of people”, he added. He said that U.S. also backed the dictators who subverted the human rights, using their own people and soldiers as surrogates in proxy wars. He said that West's double standards vis-à-vis the human rights issue and using international mechanisms as a tool have put the credibility of international bodies at stake.
