Heavily armed Yemeni tribal fighters have blown up an oil pipeline in the eastern province of Marib that was damaged by explosives a day earlier. The tribesmen sabotaged the oil pipeline connecting Marib’s oil fields to the Red Sea early Tuesday and set it ablaze. The fighters also cut the road between the region’s gas fields and the capital Sana’a.The sabotage attack comes as anti-government protests have shaken Yemen since January. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds more injured in crackdown by security forces.Meanwhile, thousands of demonstrators have set up tents in major Yemeni cities, standing their ground even at night.Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has been in office for 32 years with several opposition members arguing that his long-promised reforms have not materialized. The country’s opposition and religious figures have envisioned a roadmap for the president’s departure before the end of this year. The head of state, however, has said he would stay in power until the end of his term in 2013.
