US warns Turkey against trade with Iran http://rehmat1.wordpress.com/2011/05/01/us-warns-turkey-against-trade-with-iran/

David S. Cohen (a Zionist Jew), acting undersecretary for ‘terrorism and financial intelligence’, during his visit to Turkey, on April 24-28, had warned Turkey against conducting financial transactions with the Islamic Republic and asked Ankara to halt the operations of Bank Mellat, an Iranian state-run bank in the country. The Bank which is banned to operate in the US and EU, has three branches in Turkey.Turkey had reported US$10 billion annual trade with the Islamic Republic in 2010 and Ankara expects it to reach US$30 billion by 2020.

India is also planning to use Turkey for its oil transactions with Iran since Germany stopped its bank Bundesbank from accepting money from India for Iranian oil payments under pressure from Washington and Tel Aviv. India had imported 21.2 million tons of crude oil from Iran in the year ending March 31, 2010, about 13% of its total crude imports.

David Cohen is following in the foot-steps of his Jewish boss, Stuart Levey, who is considered as the ‘father of crippling sanctions’ against the Islamic Republic. Former Iranian Finance Minister, Davoud Danesh Jafari, had described Levey’s strategy, as reported by Ron Kampeas in JTA, July 1, 2010. “They had assigned one of their Zionist deputies to halt the Iranian economy. This person would personally travel to many countries around the world. He would use incentives and encouragement to request cooperation against Iran, and if he failed to get any results he would use threats to pursue his goal“.

Iranian Envoy Blames US, Israel for Developments in Syria http://www.islamidavet.com/english/2011/04/30/iranian-envoy-blames-us-israel-for-developments-in-syria/

The US and Israel have hatched plots to spark tension in Syria, but the country’s President Bashar al-Assad is properly handling the situation, a senior Iranian diplomat said. “A major part of the events that are happening in Syria have been sponsored by the US and the Zionist regime (of Israel),” Tehran’s Ambassador to Moscow [..Seyed Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi told reporters on Saturday. “As far as developments in Syria are concerned, the important issue is that the country is considered as the frontline of the confrontation with Zionist regime’s aggressions,” he stated. “For the last two years, the regime’s leaders, in collaboration with Americans, have been trying to spark tension and unrests in Syria,” Sajjadi cautioned.

MUST READ!!!-US Intervention in Syria - by Stephen Lendman (URUK.NET ''HIDES'' FACTS ;) http://warisacrime.org/content/us-intervention-syria

Despite genuine popular Middle East/North Africa uprisings, Washington's dirty hands orchestrated regime change plans in Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Jordan, and Syria as part of its "New Middle East" project. On November 18, 2006, Middle East analyst Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya's Global Research article headlined, "Plans for Redrawing the Middle East: The Project for a 'New Middle East,' " saying:In June 2006 in Tel Aviv, "US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice (first) coin(ed) the term" in place of the former "Greater Middle East" project, a shift in rhetoric only for Washington's longstanding imperial aims.

The new terminology "coincided with the inauguration of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Oil Terminal in the Eastern Mediterranean." During Israel's summer 2006 Lebanon war, "Prime Minister Olmert and (Rice) informed the international media that a project for a 'New Middle East' was being launched in Lebanon," a plan in the works for years to "creat(e) an arc of instability, chaos, and violence extending from Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria to Iraq, the Persian Gulf, Iran, and the borders of NATO-garrisoned Afghanistan."

Nazemroaya now says Syrian "protesters are being armed and funded by Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states via Jordan and Saad Hariri in Lebanon," besides US and Israeli involvement.Pack Journalism Goes to War with WashingtonAmerica's pack journalism never met an America imperial initiative it didn't support and promote, no matter how lawless, mindless, destructive or counterproductive. For example, an April 28 New York Times editorial headlined, "President Assad's Crackdown," saying:He "appears determined to join his father in the ranks of history's blood-stained dictators, sending his troops and thugs to murder anyone who has the courage to demand political freedom."

QUESTION: Does Fred Upton get money from Big Oil? -- Allen Mitchell, Detroit ANSWER: Upton, a Republican who represents Michigan's 6th Congressional District, doesn't just get money from the oil and gas industry: the people and political action committees associated with the industry rank No. 9 among his career contributors when compared to the more than 120 industries and special interest areas that OpenSecrets.org tracks.

For his congressional career, Upton has received more than $262,000 from people and PACs associated with the oil and gas industry, OpenSecrets.org's research indicates.Furthermore, Upton was personally invested in several petroleum companies as of 2009, the most recent year covered by the personal financial disclosures of congressional members. Among Upton's stock holdings are BP, Chevron and ExxonMobil,  It may also be worthwhile to note, Allen, that Upton is chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Palestinian Unity Deal Announced by Stephen Lendman http://mostlywater.org/palestinian_unity_deal_announced

Palestinian unity and UN membership worry Israel and Washington. In September, it now hopes the UN General Assembly will affirm what Israel for decades spurned, including peace to perpetuate its war agenda based on lies and deception about Hamas threatening its security. Getting Washington to bogusly declare it a terrorist organization, Western media ignore its legitimacy as Palestine's democratically elected government, facts conveniently replaced by spurious claims about terrorism. In other words, twisting them to fit policy that includes on-and-off again wars, violence, land theft, severe repression, targeted assassinations, and violation of fundamental international law and standards, as well as core Judaic values, ones Israel long ago abandoned.

Cote-des-Neiges, one of the poorest areas in Montreal, has come under direct attack from policies of the Harper Conservative government since 2006.

Extractive industries Broken promises Shell continues damaging practices in Nigeria with absolute impunity http://www.radiomundoreal.fm/Broken-promises

The British-Dutch oil corporation Shell flared more gas in Nigeria than the previous year, according to its own figures, despite it had promised to stop said practice in 2009.But Shell’s broken promises have a long history. Since the 90s it has been promising it would stop gas flaring in Nigeria, a practice it has embraced since 1958, and which was banned by law in 1984.The company has caused environmental and human disasters for years in the Niger Delta affecting several villages in the region.A new report on sustainability launched by Shell also shows that in 2010 the company flared 30% more gas than in 2009. According to them this was mainly due to increased production in Nigeria and new activities in Iraq.

Nnimmo Bassey, director of Friends of the Earth Nigeria and chair of Friends of the Earth International, said in a press release issued April 21: “Shell has been flaring gas in Nigeria since 1958. Though gas flaring has been illegal, to them it is a standard industry practice. They continue to reap obscene profits from the oil fields of Nigeria at the expense of the lives and the livelihoods of the poor people. While they speak from both sides of their mouths we see that they are increasing the volume of gas flared and are thus intensifying their poisoning of the environment and the peoples of the region”.

Concerns in Pakistan that USAID Officials Are CIA Spies http://news.antiwar.com/2011/04/29/concerns-in-pakistan-that-usaid-officials-are-cia-spies/

Raymond Davis was presented to the Pakistani government as a technical support worker for the US Consulate in Lahore, so it came as quite a surprise when, in the wake of his arrest on double-murder charges, he turned out to be the de facto CIA head for Pakistan. He wasn’t alone. The Davis fallout led Pakistani spy agencies to determine that the US indeed had hundreds of active CIA operatives working in the nation above and beyond the officially reported ones working with the government. Now, Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau has turned its eyes toward USAID, the official US government aid agency. There is concern, according to reports, that the various USAID “corruption” scandals surrounding inefficient projects are evidence that the agency is being used as cover for CIA activities.

Dilip Hiro's book, After Empire - The Birth of a  Multipolar World. Review by Jim Miles http://axisoflogic.com/artman/publish/Article_62886.shtml

In this editorial comment, we would be remiss not to emphasize President Hugo Chávez' contribution to the movement toward a multipolar world. He has championed this refreshing approach to international relations from the very beginning of his presidency. Steve Ellner wrote in, Toward a ‘Multipolar World’: Using Oil Diplomacy to Sever Venezuela’s Dependence"From the beginning of his presidency, Chávez has advocated a 'multipolar world' as a corrective to the 'unipolar world,' a euphemism for U.S. hegemony.

After two U.S.- supported attempts to oust him in 2002, Chávez began using the term imperialism, and forging alliances with other nations became a political imperative. By 'multipolar world,' the Venezuelan president envisions the transformation of nations of the South into blocs, bound together geographically or economically, with political and economic clout. For Venezuela, these formations include both the hemispheric Common Market of the South (Mercado Común del Sur, or Mercosur) and, most significantly, OPEC."

Video: Awarta 27-4-11 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kmsI96i618

[in Arabic, but the pictures tell the story; a few subtitles. The beauty of this valley is amazing...] Wheels of Justice -- Two Palestinians from Awarta were killed for coming within 500 meters of the fortified fencing of this colony. This is one of the many reasons why we are very convinced that the whole story about the killing of a settler family by two teenagers from the village of Awarta is a lie. But the killing of these settlers set stage for a ransacking of the village by the colonizing army of the state of Israel. Beating people, massive destruction, torture and more was inflicted on the village of 6000 people as collective punishment. It is hard to describe what we saw and heard.

The video just reveals a glimpse of it ... I was particularly shocked to hear from Um Adam, a 77 year old grandmother (14 living children, over 75 grandchildren). One of her children still held by the Israelis is the volunteer head of the municipal council. Another child is the only doctor in town. The homes of these two children, her home, and many other homes were ransacked and heavily damaged (the fascist soldiers had clearly come to destroy as an act of collective punishment). The doctor's room and his medical books and supplies were not spared.

'US, Israel trying to blackmail Syria' http://www.rebelnews.org/politics/middle-east/809371-us-israel-trying-to-blackmail-syria

Iran's envoy to Syria says the United States has launched a psychological war against Syria in order to force its demands on the government in Damascus. In an exclusive interview with IRNA on Friday, Seyyed Ahmad Mousavi noted that the Israeli regime and the US are not after a change in Syria's political system due to the popular support for President Bashar al-Assad. Mousavi acknowledged that poverty and the corruption of some politicians have sparked protests against the Syrian government and that Damascus must take major steps toward reform.

However, he dismissed allegations that Assad is facing a popularity crisis.  “The enemies are well aware that Assad enjoys widespread popularity with the Syrians and he cannot be easily toppled,” said Mousavi, who also serves as Iranian President Ahmadinejad's advisor on Palestine affairs. “He is very different from Mubarak and Ben Ali in this regard,” he noted, referring to the deposed Egyptian and Tunisian dictators after decades of autocratic rule in the North African countries. The Iranian official said the presence of armed thugs, who Damascus blames for the killing of protesters in the country, is due to the failure of the enemies to incite Syrians against the Assad administration.

“The US and Israel as Syria's main opponents and other enemies, no matter how hard they have tried, have not managed to push more than 10 percent of the country's population onto the scene and thus have entered the military stage [of their plan],” he stated. Mousavi added that Syria's opponents are now seeking to incite people into joining anti-government protests by provoking clashes and bloodshed in the country. But this ploy has failed largely thanks to the awareness of Syrians, he pointed out. The Iranian diplomat said all the pressure from Assad's enemies is focused on winning concessions from him and imposing their will on the Syrian government with regards to regional issues. He said that unlike Tunisia and Egypt, army forces in Syria have come under attack by armed thugs who seem to be funded and masterminded by sources outside the country.

This he said is due to the unpredictable political status that could follow Assad's fall. Mousavi called the mounting strategic and political failures in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine the reason for the mounting pressure on Syria, where enemies are trying to take advantage of the people's legitimate demands. “If we add the defeat of the Zionist regime [of Israel] in the Gaza War and the 33-day war in Lebanon, their attempts for creating a greater Middle East, the Annapolis conference and their failure in distancing Iran and Syria...one can see the depth of US and Israeli failure... and the reason for their turning to mount pressure on Syria,” he said.

Iranian Health Minister Marzieh Vahid-Dastjerdi has hailed the country’s achievements in healthcare and called for cooperation between Iran and Russia in the field. Vahid-Dastjerdi made the remarks in Moscow on Friday at the First Global Ministerial Conference on Healthy Lifestyles and Non-Communicable Disease Control, the Press TV correspondent in Moscow reported. She went on to say that Iranian specialists can now produce over 96 percent of the medicinal needs of the country and added that child and maternal mortality has dropped significantly in Iran in recent decades.

In addition, the Islamic Republic produces medical isotopes for cancer patients, the Iranian health minister added. The Iranian delegation to the conference also paid visits to some of Russia’s major medical and educational facilities and held talks with Russian health officials. The forum was organized by the World Health Organization with the goals of developing and promoting programs on healthy lifestyles and strengthening global cooperation in preventing and curing non-infectious diseases. Delegates from 160 countries, including 90 health ministers, participated in the conference. Earlier in the week, the head of Iran’s Pharmaceutical Union, Gholamreza Shariati, said Iran domestically produces over 2,500 different medicines and exports about $100 million worth of medicines to 30 countries per year.

Iran forex reserve over $100bn http://www.islamidavet.com/english/2011/04/30/iran-forex-reserve-over-100bn/

An official with the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has stated that the country has at least 100 billion dollars in foreign exchange reserves. Speaking on condition of anonymity, he told the Fars News Agency that the foreign exchange reserve is different from the foreign exchange reserve account, noting that the figures announced by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and some CBI officials refer to the foreign exchange reserve and not the foreign exchange reserve account.

The official explained that the content of the foreign exchange reserve account is in constant fluctuation due to various inputs and outputs and certain times it might reach the zero level, without contradicting the statement that the country has at least 100 billion dollars in foreign exchange reserves. He also stated that Iran’s abundant reserves of gold and various foreign currencies, which serve as a back-up to foreign exchange reserves, have put the Islamic Republic in an unparalleled position in the world.

Syria: Intervention Inevitable And the greater World War http://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/2011/04/syria-intervention-inevitable.html

Regime change in Syria was a foregone conclusion as early as 1991. General Wesley Clark in a 2007 speech in California relayed a 1991 conversation between himself and then Under Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz. Wolfowitz indicated that America had 5-10 years to clean up old Soviet "client regimes," namely Syria, Iran, and Iraq, before the next super power rose up to challenge western hegemony. The "next super power" includes ironically Russia, recovering from the treasonous attempted sellout by oligarchs like Mikhail Khodorkovsky, and of course a rising China.

Syria is not only a defiant nation unwilling to participate in "globalization," it is also an integral part of both Iran's and Russia's growing counterbalance throughout the region, in direct contrast to Western hegemony. The Syrian port city of Tartus is being renovated and is set to host heavy Russian warships in a bid to establish a significant presence in the Mediterranean.

This would counteract NATO's expansion along Russia's borders as well as keep in check Western fleets north of the Suez.Syria has long served this purpose, with the Tartus facility having originally been opened in 1971 through an agreement with the Soviets. When Paul Wolfowitz was referring to Soviet "client regimes" in his 1991 conversation with Wesley Clark, this sort of challenge to Western hegemony was what he was referring to.

Arab uprisings like a "juggernaut heading downhill": UK journalist http://www.abna.ir/data.asp?lang=3&Id=239122

The uprisings in Arab states appear to have no bounds and could spread to countries outside the region with installed puppets and dictators with even the people in the west re-evaluating their own leaders, according to British broadcaster Yvonne Ridley.“The movement of people power we are witnessing is like a juggernaut heading downhill - there's no limit or barrier and hundreds have already paid the blood price in their determination to win freedom and take charge of their own destinies,” said Ridley, who have travelled extensively throughout the Middle East.

Palestinians, she also believed, will benefit from the revolutionaries because “every one of them has Al Quds in his heart” and although the uprisings may not be Islamic, the people are Muslim and will rediscover their faith often denied to them by those in power. “I also have a feeling what is happening in the region will spread to Pakistan, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan - this is a brave new world which has no place for Western installed puppets, despots, royals or dictators.”

Local media reports say the Israeli Embassy in Azerbaijan has repeatedly been closed in 2011 due to an increase in anti-Zionist sentiments in the former Soviet republic. http://www.abna.ir/data.asp?lang=3&Id=239126

Local media reports say the Israeli Embassy in Azerbaijan has repeatedly been closed in 2011 due to an increase in anti-Zionist sentiments in the former Soviet republic. The Yeni Musavat daily said on Friday that the Israeli Embassy in Baku had closed several times this year due to fears of attacks. However, both Azeri officials and media remained tight-lipped about the incidents. The report recalled that the first closure dated back to February 14. It also said that the latest suspension of activities occurred on April 22 and following a warning from Israeli intelligence services about possible attacks on the office.

Security has been tightened around the Israeli Embassy, the Azeri paper noted, estimating the number of security forces guarding the Israeli office at four times the number of guards at the adjacent Japanese Embassy. Israel has been facing growing criticism and resentment from the Muslim majority population in Azerbaijan over the devastating war it waged on Lebanon in 2006 and the killing of over 1,400 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in December 2008 and January 2009.  The war crimes were yet topped by Tel Aviv's deadly attack on a Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla on May 31, 2010, when Israeli commandos launched an offensive on the aid convoy in international waters.

On the international Quds Day last year, tens of thousands of Azeri protesters assembled in front of the Israeli Embassy in Baku, demanding the closure of the office and the severance of all Azeri-Israeli ties. The anti-Israeli sentiments in Azerbaijan have escalated to an unprecedented peak given revelations of Tel Aviv's active role in the anti-hijab and Islamophobia campaigns in the ex-Soviet state. The wave of Islamic awakening uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East has further encouraged anti-Israeli movements in Azerbaijan.

Saudis protest against Bahrain crackdown http://tehrantimes.com/index_View.asp?code=239657

Crowds of people in Saudi Arabia have taken to the streets to protest against the violent Saudi-backed crackdown on Bahraini anti-government protesters.Demonstrators in the eastern city of Qatif denounced Riyadh for backing Bahraini forces in the destruction of mosques and holy sites, Press TV reported on Friday. On Thursday night, Saudi women also held a candle light vigil in Awamiyah in solidarity with the Bahraini people, chanting slogans against Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The demonstrations came after Riyadh arrested about 30 activists over the past two days for allegedly taking part in rallies held in Qatif. More than 100 protesters have been in jail for several weeks since they were arrested in March during demonstrations in Qatif and nearby towns held in support of the people of Bahrain. Last week, about a dozen human rights organizations and 190 intellectuals from the six countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council issued a joint statement calling for the release of political prisoners in Saudi Arabia. On March 13, Saudi Arabia deployed military forces in Bahrain upon Manama’s request to quell the nationwide protests.

Saudi Arabia has imposed new media restrictions, threatening news organizations that allegedly undermine national security, with heavy fines and closure. http://www.abna.ir/data.asp?lang=3&Id=239164

How the American govt fools its people - Part 16 (Destablizing Syria) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5afjkxBgPyc

How the American govt fools its people - Part 17 (Terrorizing Iran) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftROzz6u3vs&feature=related

In recent history America has accused many states of sponsoring terrorism against it..The list includes Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Libya, North Korea and Lebanon..

How the American govt fools its people - Part 3 (You are anti-semitic too) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvIEhSJMMZY

The most common tactic of the American govt to hide their subservience to Israeli Lobbies is that whenever someone questions their detrimental relationship with Israel, they label him a Jew-hater or an anti-semite..This easily overpowers the whole argument and the person fears for his safety rather than questioning the foreign policies..

Brasil: “Many landowners also own the media” Interview with Marta Valéria Cunha, coordinator of the Pastoral Land Commission in Amazonas http://alainet.org/active/46154&lang=es

The Pastoral Land Commission or CPT is well known for its advocacy efforts. The organization’s battles, research, and initiatives — like the “Referendum on limiting land ownership” held in September of last year, the “Campaign against slave labor”, as well as its annual reports on the conflicts over land — are never trivial, but on the contrary always leave a mark.CPT is not hampered by anyone, neither the government (including the progressive administrations of Luiz Ignácio Lula da Silva [2003-2010]

, and Dilma Rousseff); much less by the landowners and the political parties that support them, which are always strong in parliament. Not even the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops or CNBB — CPT’s parent organization — can hold it back.Latinamerica Press met with Marta Valéria Cunha , who has held this position for seven years, but has been working with the Commission since the 90s when she began as a volunteer. Correspondent Paolo Moiola spoke with her at CPT’s headquarters in Manaus, Amazonas, about the organization and the fight for land.

How about banning Israeli politicians for supporting terrorism? http://mondoweiss.net/2011/04/how-about-banning-israeli-politicians-for-supporting-terrorism.html

Israeli leaders have condemned the nascent Palestinian reconciliation, considering the possible participation of Hamas members in any government to be unacceptable because of the party’s history of terrorism. To the great surprise of no one, American politicians have been competing for press attention to parrot the same line. What if Palestinian leaders, and our own Congress, did likewise, and demanded that Israel bar from elective office any member of a political party with a history of engaging in or supporting terrorism? Of course, a full recital of Israeli attacks on civilians would fill a multi-volume treatise, but let’s content ourselves with a thumbnail sketch. First, consider Labor, the most liberal/left of Israel’s major parties. Anyone who supported the great peacemaker and Nobel laureate Yitzhak Rabin would be barred.

Obama and 'the Jewish lobby of one' http://tvnewslies.org/tvnl/index.php/news/editorials/18992-obama-and-the-jewish-lobby-of-one.html

Among the most durable pieces of conventional wisdom circulating in Washington these days is that President Obama would never risk a confrontation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (when he comes to town in May) out of fear of angering Israel's supporters in America a year before the U.S. presidential election. The notion that domestic politics and the pro-Israel community hold the president's Middle East policy hostage seems to bind Washington like a hard-and-fast political law of gravity. The only problem is it's dead wrong and dangerous.

Over 800 inmates escape Tunisian prisons http://www.tvnewslies.org/tvnl/index.php/news/international/18994--over-800-inmates-escape-tunisian-prisons.html

TAP reported that 522 inmates from the prison in Kasserine escaped after a fire in two cells, and another 300 inmates escaped from the Gafsa prison. The two towns are both in Tunisia's center-west region, some 150 kilometers (about 95 miles) apart. Personnel at the prison in Gafsa were on strike at the time, likely making the mass exodus by inmates easier. The North African nation has been hit by social unrest since the country's long-time autocratic ruler was ousted Jan. 14 in an uprising.

Some 11,000 inmates escaped from Tunisian prisons shortly after Zine El Abidine Ben Ali fled into exile. Of those, several thousand have been caught and nearly 2,000 turned themselves in after the Justice Ministry warned the escape could worsen their cases, TAP reported.

Earlier, in the capital Tunis, police fired tear gas at hundreds of Islamists protesting what they said were offensive comments toward Islam by two teachers. Protesters chanted "God is Great," and carried banners including one reading "We do not pardon those who insult the prophet."Several hours of peaceful protest degenerated when some demonstrators sought to take on police, who immediately fired tear gas.

An analyst believes that by giving Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh 30 days to leave office, the (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council has given him license to escape prosecution. http://www.abna.ir/data.asp?lang=3&Id=239091

Yemeni freelance journalist Munir al-Mawari said in an interview Saleh is desperate to find a scapegoat for his crimes as looks to find refuge from the tactics employed by Saudi Arabia. Q: I'd like to ask you about this plan which has come under threat by the opposition and even by President Saleh who said if any Qatar representatives were to attend the signing that he would not sign this document. Was this power transfer plan doomed from the day it was announced? Al-Mawari: I agree that Saleh tries to buy time and create problems before solving the problem.

I think the (P)GCC countries made a big mistake in giving him 30 days in advance to commit a crime and then become immune from prosecution. He will do his best to make this initiative fail. The only way for Saleh to test his credibility, the (P)GCC should tell him to do this now or tomorrow. If they give him one week or 30 days he will come up with a thousand reasons to make an excuse for not doing it. He will never resign under this initiative. He will do whatever to engage this country in a civil war, to have a situation with statelessness, so no one can go after him or his assets. He knows how many crimes he has been committing during the last 33 years.

Q: The Ambassador mentioned the United States and its role in all of this, and the fact that it is silent. It's being said that for many Yemenis the US military assistance has become synonymous with the lack of political freedom considering Saleh's regime realized that if they kept speaking about al-Qaeda the US would give them more aid and, essentially, they'd become more wealthier. Do you feel that the US, now that it has stayed longer itself in the Arabian Peninsula, will be willing to side with the protesters? Al-Mawari: Well, it has already changed its positions and stopped military aid for Saleh in February. They announced that publically. The US is a super power that cares about its interests. They're not going to side with Saleh as an individual against its own interests. It's not about principles or ethics, it's about strategic interests.

That's why the United States is pushing hard to convince Saleh to step down. This guy is a snake and knows how to dance among the head of the snakes. He used to do that on the domestic level but now he is doing that on the regional and international level by using Saudi Arabia against Doha (Qatar), mentioning Qatar against Saudi Arabia, and giving an excuse to use Russia and China against the United States. He is playing among hard and big snakes and that's why I expect that he is going to lose very soon because no one is willing to risk their interests for Saleh.

Turkey rebuffs U.S. pressure against Iranian bank U.S. http://www.mehrnews.com/en/newsdetail.aspx?NewsID=1300379

U.S. has tried hard to narrow Iran financial transactions in recent years for pressuring Tehran not follow its peaceful nuclear program.U.S. deputy treasury secretary traveled to Ankara last week and held talks with Turkish officials to persuade Turkey limit Mellat Bank activities in Turkey.Washington claims that the bank’s branches in Turkey involve in illicit activities. Washington wanted from Turkish banks to refrain from doing business with any Iranian banks which U.S. claims they are “suspected of proliferation activities”. Mellat Bank has now three branches in the country located in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.

In response to U.S. pressures, Turkey has said that Mellat Bank isn’t in the list of Iranian banks sanctioned by the United Nations, and Ankara repeatedly declared that has no obligation to following unilateral sanctions of U.S. and EU against Iran, IRNA reported.“By the fact that it’s not the first time U.S. asks such requests and moreover Turkey emphasized it is impossible to cut trade relations with Iran, a neighbor which is one of the Turkey’s gas suppliers, it doesn’t seem that Turkey would accept the Washington request”, the report further said.

But Tariq Ramadan's guest, Marc Wadswerth, has some recommendations for the immigrant society at large, including the Muslims.

SURPRISE,SURPRISE..The Three Stooges Want War With Syria http://www.revoltoftheplebs.com/categories/rogues-gallery/the-three-stooges-want-war-with-syria/

Three of the Senate’s most enthusiastic hawks, Sens. John McCain (R – AZ), Joe Lieberman (I – CT), and Lindsay Graham (R – SC) have issued a joint statement on Thursday demanding that President Obama publicly order Syrian President Bashar Assad to resign immediately. The statement made copious references to Libya, which the United States launched a war against last month, and insisted that President Obama should take the same stance that “it is time for Assad to go.” Sen. Lieberman … has been calling for a war in Syria since late last month, saying Libya set a precedent for such an attack.White House spokesman Jay Carney would say only that the White House is considering a “range” of possible options against Syria.

It is rather surprising, then, that Washington, Europe and Israel have seemed ambivalent about Assad’s future. President Obama waited too long before at last demanding Assad stop his “outrageous use of violence.” He rightly pointed to the regime’s cynicism and hypocrisy, charging Syria with “blaming outsiders while seeking Iran’s assistance in repressing Syria’s citizens through the same brutal tactics that have been used by his Iranian allies.Syria remains a dangerous country. The U.N. nuclear agency confirmed on Thursday that the target Israel bombed in 2007 was indeed a nuclear reactor. Syria denied it. Now U.N. experts confirm, unequivocally, that Syria was secretly building a nuclear facility

When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered to press his cabinet to impose a freeze of settlement construction if Palestinians would recognize Israel as the national home of the Jewish people, I had mixed feelings about the proposal.

Jewish nation, of course, does not mean special rights for Jews or second-class status for non-Jews. Israel is a democratic country whose laws clearly spell out equality for all citizens.

Israeli PM refuses to halt Jerusalem constructions http://www.ummid.com/news/2010/April/23.04.2010/israeli_pm+refuses_to_halt_settlement_const.htm

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the US call to halt construction in East Jerusalem even as Washington special envoy George Mitchell arrived in the region to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.“I am saying one thing: there will be no freeze in Jerusalem,” Netanyahu was quoted as saying Thursday by Israel’s Channel 2 TV.

This is first visit by the US’ Middle East envoy since a row broke out between Israel and the US over house construction plans in East Jerusalem.“This is what we are arguing about,” Netanyahu said. “They are saying we have to stop building, and I say as prime minister of all the Israelis, there are red lines. This is a red line. I won’t cross it. This is not a dispute with America.”

AN EUROPEAN UNION STATEMENT ON SYRIA http://europeaninternationalrelation.wordpress.com/2011/04/28/an-european-union-statement-on-syria/

On 27 April 2011 the Board of Directors of European Council on International Relations had convened in a special session to give a strong message of support for Syrian people and for Syrian Arab Republic independence and unity . Professor Anton Caragea , President of European Council on International Relationshad read the final declaration of the meeting stating that:In front of a media campaign of lies and disinformation and manipulation regarding the events in Syrian Arab Republic we, the intellectual community of Europe we state our solidarity with Syrian people, victim of foreign intervention and aggression .

We voice our support for Syrian Arab Republic territorial integrity as is stated in all international law and United Nations Charta with territory of Golan as a integral part of Syrian Arab Republic as stated in the UN Charta .We condemn the terrorist aggression that had launch attacks in Deraa , Latakia and Damascus and we underline our support for the Government of President Bashar Al Assad as the soul legal , legitimate and unique representative of Syrian people. We support the legal and lawful intervention of Syrian security forces against terrorist attacks in order to protect the life and property of Syrian people . Syrian security forces had only done their duty with honor and professionalism repealing the aggression and invaders from Syrian territory.

We condemn the media outlets that are calling terrorist attacks a revolution , mercenaries and terrorists as freedom fighter`s and advocate the destruction of Syria . We must state clear that in Syrian there is no revolution , in Syria a democratic reform process organized by President Bashar Al Assad is giving to every person the right to freedom of expression and human rights and dignity are provided for making useless any revolution. Finally we express our trust in President Bashar Al Assad of Syria as the representative of the unity of Syrian people and the guarantor of the integrity of Syria , as the representative of reform policy for a better, democratic and free Syria.

President Bashar Al Assad is in this grave hours the voice of people of Syria and is giving the example and dedication of a true leader, we are respecting and we express our solidarity with him .European Union must stand beside Syria as are under question the fundamental values that Europe is speaking for: freedom, independence, national unity and non-interference in internal affairs. If this principles will be forgotten not only Syria`s security will be under question but Europe and any other state existence will be subject to debate. Supporting Syria , Europe is supporting herself. In this difficult time European`s must not forget and abandon the brother people of Syria , the European-Syrian relation is a historical one and Europe must always stay behind Syria , his people and his leader, in the process of building a free and independent Syria.

Rather than judicially review significant evidence in the events of September 11, 2001, on April 27, the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court’s dismissal of a military officer’s complaint against former Vice President Dick Cheney, former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Richard Myers.

One of Plaintiff April Gallop’s attorneys, William Veale, didn’t know whether to relate the decision to “Kafka, Orwell, Carroll, or Huxley,” referring to the absurdity and dearth of reason emanating from the court regarding the deadliest attack on U.S. soil the nation has ever faced.“The Court’s decision, analogous to reviewing an Indictment in a liquor store hold-up without mentioning the guy walking in with a gun, refuses to acknowledge even the existence of the three defendants much less what they were doing that morning or saying about it afterwards.”
