Mordechai Vanunu, the Israeli whistleblower who exposed details of Israel's nuclear weapons programme to the world in 1986, has been awarded the 2013 human rights prize of the Brazilian Press Association (ABI). ABI awarded the prize to Vananu for his services to humanity, to citizenship rights and the right to information. An additional six "citizens of the world" also received the 2013, including Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, Glenn Greenwald and Chelsea Manning. Vanunu exposed Israel's nuclear weapons programme to the British press in 1986 and was subsequently kidnapped by Israeli intelligence and sentenced to 18 years in prison, 11 of which he spent in solitary confinement. Since his release from prison in 2004, Vanunu is subject to broad restrictions on his speech and movement, and it not permitted to leave Israel as he desires. In announcing its decision, ABI stated that it is honouring Israeli citizen Mordechai Vanunu, a hero of humanity who acted to support world peace.

NLG - Political Prisioners and Liberation Struggles (Part 3 of 3)
The workshop addresses the current state of the respective struggles and their political prisoners. The Puerto Rican people have always resisted colonialism, and have waged campaigns for the release of the thousands of their compatriots who have been imprisoned for their commitment to independence, and have always advocated for their human rights. The U.S. has imprisoned the Cuban Five since 1998 for trying to prevent Florida based terrorism against Cuba. An update on legal & political developments, including newly discovered evidence. The movement of Palestinian political prisoners has received growing attention internationally. The struggle of Palestinian prisoners, given the role of US aid and funding to Israel, is directly connected to that of other prisoners held by the US.Recently, the FBI named Assata Shakur as the first woman on its “Most Wanted Terrorists” list, funding a $2 million bounty for her capture and return from Cuba. The workshop will address Assata’s case as an illustration of the criminalization of the Black Liberation Movement and numerous political prisoners that emerged from it.Speakers:Alberto Rodriguez Alberto Rodriguez is a Puerto Rican Independentista who in 1983 was arrested by a FBI led task force and charged with the impossible crime of Seditious Conspiracy for fighting for the independence of Puerto Rico. Saudi Wahhabi Preacher: OK to Kill Muslim Women & Children Unintentionally to Kill Infidels

A Saudi Wahhabi preacher who appeared on Saudi "al-Thaminah" TV stated that the killing of Muslim women and children is permissible according to his sources when it's done as collateral damage resulting from the "lawful" aim of killing infidels. These Wahhabi preachers are the ones providing fatwas to combatants in Syria regarding what they view as religiously approved rules of war. Civilians in Syria have been indiscriminately targeted by Wahhabi terrorists supported by Saudi Arabia, all done under the justification of fighting an "infidel regime".
US STRENGTHENING BAHRAINS REPRESSION AND DICTATORSHIP....

“Bahrain is going to suddenly emerge” in the eyes of the public and the Defence Department, he said. The US Navy is confirming its footprint in the Arabian Gulf by reinforcing its presence through short- and long-term plans. Telling Navy sailors at the US Naval Facility in Manama that Bahrain remained the best option for operating out of the region, Adm Jonathan Greenert, chief of naval operations, described a plan to bring two more coastal patrol ships to the kingdom in the spring. The first littoral combat ships are expected to arrive in Bahrain in 2018 with rotational crews, Greenert told the US newspaper ...Greenert stressed Bahrain’s key role in the service’s Middle East presence, telling sailors that the base here would continue to be its “centrepiece” and denying there was a plan B.“We don’t have that kind of deep relationship with any other country that we have with Bahrain,” Greenert told Stripes.Bahrain has had a long, close cooperation with the US and was designated a Major Non-Nato Ally in 2002.

What archives? UK ordered destruction of ‘embarrassing’ colonial papers

Britain systematically destroyed documents in colonies that were about to gain independence, declassified Foreign Office files reveal. ‘Operation Legacy’ saw sensitive documents secretly burnt or dumped to cover up traces of British activities. The latest National Archives publication made from a collection of 8,800 colonial-era files held by the Foreign Office for decades revealed deliberate document elimination by British authorities in former colonies.

AFRICAN GENOCIDE,FRENCH PRETEXT FOR PLUNDER OF AFRICA
http://www.islamicinvitationturkey.com/2013/12/02/african-genocide-pretext-for-french-plunder/
The Seleka rebels ousted the French-backed president of the CAR, Francois Bozizé, earlier this year in March. The newly self-declared president, Michel Djotodia, is the first Muslim leader of that African country.Djotodia has firmly rejected claims that the interim government is waging a sectarian conflict, and he has recently denied French assertions that the country is on the brink of genocide.“There’s no genocide, there is not even an inter-religious war. All of this is made up to manipulate the opinion of the international community,” he said.Best estimates put the number of victims in the dozens, not hundreds or thousands. And it is not clear which groups are responsible for the sudden chaos. Also, it seems that the recent surge in violence was initiated in September by shadowy militia known as “anti-balaka” who are linked to forces loyal to the ousted president Bozizé.These groups began attacking mainly Muslim communities in northern parts of the CAR, which have in turn resulted in reprisal killings allegedly by Muslim rebel groups against Christians.Until recently, both religious communities lived harmoniously, with sectarian violence unheard of.What is known is that the French-backed Bozizé regime was notoriously corrupt. He is now exiled in France from where he is agitating a counter-coup, presumably with covert help from the French government.Bozizé himself came to power in 2003 through a coup against an elected president, Ange-Felix Patasse. It was the intervention of French commandos that installed Bozizé.Indeed, since the CAR’s supposed political independence from France in 1960, French troops stationed in the country have regularly worked covertly to stage coups and counter-coups to suit the political and economic needs of Paris.
HONDURAN ELLECTIONS AFTER US OCCUPATION...MILITARIZATION AT THE BALLOTS!  http://quotha.net/node/2607 After a moment, when I had taken possession of my position as president of Voting Station 2686, in the Minerva School, there was a verbal altercation between the police officers and Mr. Pinto that reached the point where Mr. Pinto and his cronies ended up intimidating and kicking out the members of the community police force.Once we were without police protection, they began to threaten my compañeros and me, telling us we should leave the voting stations and the polling place. They confiscated the national identity card and electoral worker credential of one of my compañions by threatening to kill her, and they tried to intimidate me at gunpoint to sign the tally sheets and ballots before leaving the table, which I did not agree to, and finally they forced me to give them my electoral worker credential and national identity card.We managed to leave the community. In the door of the school there were people asking voters whom they planned to vote for, and if it was not for the National Party candidate they simply were not allowed to enter.
--------------------------
http://soaw.org/about-us/equipo-sur/263-stories-from-honduras/4162-novelections
Another issue is the financial incentives used by the National Party to get people to vote for them. For instance, just outside a large voting center in Danli, the National Party was distributing its “La Cachureca” discount card, shown in the photo at right. This card provides people who register with the National Party discounts for cell phone use, medical care, and other needs. The International Federation for Human Rights reported on how the La Cachureca card is used to shift votes to the National Party. We also have received reports of a government program that is supposed to provide aid to people in poverty being manipulated by the National Party, which is currently in power. One woman denounced that she had received one of these checks before the election that was dated the Tuesday after the election; she was told that there would only be funds to cash it if the National Party won.
We are extremely concerned about statements by the US State Department that observers found the process to be "generally transparent." There are reports by numerous international observers of dead people able to vote, vote buying, and problems with vote counting, not to mention that the TSE has selectively tallied the vote reports while leaving many votes uncounted. The above examples is just part of what our delegation saw; delegations across the country reported fraud, including vote buying, which is described in the Honduras Solidarity Network preliminary report. http://www.hondurassolidarity.org/report1/
The State Department's statement goes on to encourage Hondurans to "resolve election disputes peacefully through established legal processes" but fails to mention the fact that the ruling parties control the highly politicized Honduran justice system. Just a few months ago, the National party's presidential candidate, in his role as president of the Congress, led an extremely irregular process to name a new Attorney General in the middle of the night, stacking the Justice Department in his favor just prior to the elections. Prior to that, he also led Congress in the firing of 4 Supreme Court justices who had gone against his interests, and replaced them with 4 new Supreme Court justices.
World Bank Whistleblower Reveals How The Global Elite Rule The World http://www.globalresearch.ca/world-bank-whistleblower-reveals-how-the-global-elite-rule-the-world/5353130
Karen Hudes is a graduate of Yale Law School and she worked in the legal department of the World Bank for more than 20 years. In fact, when she was fired for blowing the whistle on corruption inside the World Bank, she held the position of Senior Counsel. She was in a unique position to see exactly how the global elite rule the world, and the information that she is now revealing to the public is absolutely stunning.
According to Hudes, the elite use a very tight core of financial institutions and mega-corporations to dominate the planet. Karen HudesThe goal is control. They want all of us enslaved to debt, they want all of our governments enslaved to debt, and they want all of our politicians addicted to the huge financial contributions that they funnel into their campaigns. Since the elite also own all of the big media companies, the mainstream media never lets us in on the secret that there is something fundamentally wrong with the way that our system works.
Remember, this is not some “conspiracy theorist” that is saying these things. This is a Yale-educated attorney that worked inside the World Bank for more than two decades.

How rules are tailored and public interest surrendered to suit corporate interests in the WTO, FTAs and BITs trade and investment regime
The discourse of rules and fairness usually brings up ideas of equality, justice and upholding of rights. Therefore, when the World Trade Organization (WTO) describes itself as a “rules-based” system that treats all member countries fairly based on the principle of “non-discrimination”, it could be concluded that the WTO multilateral trading system is just and equitable. But if the WTO system were indeed equitable, then why has global trade become concentrated in the hands of a few corporations, indicating that only a few big corporate players benefit from the global trading system. Why is it that 80% of US exports are handled by only 1% of the largest exporters and 85% of EU exports are in the hands of only 10% of the big exporters? If the WTO rules based system were really non- discriminatory, equitable and just, then shouldn’t there be an equal distribution of economic benefits to all 159 Members countries? This Report contests some key assumptions about the rules based global trade and investment system. It addresses such questions as: Who are the real beneficiaries of the legally binding and enforceable agreements and rules of the WTO that ensures the smooth, predictable and free movement of trade flows?Who are the key players in global trade that would benefit from the breaking down of all trade barriers? And ultimately, whose trade organization is the WTO really and how is it related to the regime of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and International Investment Agreements (IIAs)?How is this elaboration of rules designed to privilege the unilateral operations of transnational corporations (TNCs) which maintains a sea of sharks and sardines? How does the Dispute Settlement Mechanism (DSM) work? Are all these rules designed as part of the neoliberal architecture of impunity protecting the privileges of these corporations? And in this environment, how is the public interest and national sovereignty surrendered?
Intelligence Community Plans for Continuity of Operations http://blogs.fas.org/secrecy/2013/12/ic-coop/
The U.S. intelligence community should continue to provide intelligence support to national leaders even in the event of a catastrophic emergency, according to a new Intelligence Community Directive.“IC elements shall develop and maintain COOP [continuity of operations] capabilities to ensure the uninterrupted flow of national intelligence and, through the support of COG [continuity of government], the continuation of National Essential Functions,” the Directive states.
The new Directive implements the Bush Administration’s 2007 National Security Presidential Directive 51 on “National Continuity Policy.” Presidential directives remain in force unless or until they are superseded or rescinded.

Hearing on Human Rights in Colombia - November 27, 2013 Impacts of free trade agreements on human rights... http://www.oidhaco.org/uploaded/content/article/2115665979.pdf
Introduction The Trade Agreement between the EU, Colombia and Peru, signed in June 2012 and subsequently ratified in December of the same year by the European Parliament, provisionally entered into force on August 1, 2013, in a context of high social and political tension reflected in significant social demonstrations during 2013. The Trade Agreement has led to serious questions on the situation of human rights, the lack of specific and efficient labour, social and environmental standards, the continuing violence in Colombian regions, and the potential impacts of the Agreement on sectors of the Colombian economy. Given this reality, the European Parliament called for the development of a road map on human rights, labour rights and environmental rights, which “should be aimed essentially at safeguarding human rights, enhancing and improving trade unionists’ rights and protecting the environment”1. The Parliament noted on several occasions that both the Trade Agreement and its accompanying roadmap could serve as tools for monitoring the human rights situation in Colombia. We therefore call upon the European Parliament to use the Roadmap and to take appropriate measures in light of the current situation. This document details the current situation, and outlines the concerns which still exist about the main focuses set out in the Roadmap (human rights and labour rights), as well as the potential impacts of the Trade Agreement

[[[[[[Summary – Conclusions The general human rights situation in Colombia remains of serious concern:- Murders continue to be committed against human rights defenders, land restitution leaders, small farming and indigenous leaders fighting for their land and opposing dams or miningprojects. Between January and September 2013, at least 52 defenders were killed.- The criminalization of social protest continues to affect freedom of expression and assembly. There are reports of stigmatisation by high officials, and violent repression, resulting in up to15 killings during the last national strike.- Several legislative initiatives could promote impunity and have been strongly questioned by UN mechanisms The number of displaced people is increasing every day, with over 250,000 new cases in 2012. Today in Colombia 5.7 million displaced people are registered. There is a 99.5 % rate of impunity for this crime]]]

Nicaragua Envisages Regional Companies to Build Canal http://www.prensa-latina.cu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&idioma=2&id=2135241&Itemid=1
The Nicaraguan Government envisages the presence of companies from the region, through partnerships, in the construction of the inter-oceanic canal of Nicaragua.
According to Paul Oquist, Minister-Secretary for National Policy of the Nicaraguan Presidency, this work is expected to revolutionize global maritime trade.Oquist urged Dominican companies to join the initiative, saying that once concluded, the canal will have two ports, two free-trade zones, an oil pipeline and a railway from coast to coast.

"The beginning of construction works is scheduled for late 2014 and they are expected to be completed by 2019", said Oquist."[[[Since in Nicaragua there are no large companies to perform mega-projects there will be thousands of subcontracts, which will represent an incentive for foreign companies to forge partnerships with ours", he said."We expect this project to boost economies and provide workers of the region with several jobs" said Oquist.]]]

ANTONIO BANDERAS PRAISES CHAVEZ POLICIES TO COMBAT ECONOMIC CRISIS
http://coto2.wordpress.com/2013/11/29/antonio-banderas-chavez-ideas-will-solve-us-crisis/
Antonio Banderas surprised CNN viewers when he criticized US President Barack Obama and suggested Europe and the US should apply the same economic policies as Venezuela’s late president Hugo Chávez.During his talk with Spanish journalist Ana Pastor, Banderas was asked several questions about the current financial crisis and possible solutions to it.The Malaga-born star pointed the finger of blame at “the markets, the lobbies, the big corporations” and suggested they didn’t have to take responsibility when countries and governments had problems.“We’re not being governed by the people we voted for,” he told Pastor. “How do you put a stop to that?” she asked. “You break it like Chávez did in his day, you get all these big corporations and you nationalize them,” answered Banderas in the midst of a deafening silence. “There was no other way out,” he added. The Hollywood actor also criticized the US’s President Obama for not fullfilling his promises during his two terms in office and succumbing to the pressure of big business and financial markets.
