Report: Israel, Syrian defectors negotiate
Arab newspaper quotes Jordan elements as saying Syrian defectors are in contact with Israel to return Eli Cohen's remains.
The London-based newspaper Al-Quds al-Arabi reported on Monday that a union of several Jordanian tribes has issued a warning regarding secret negotiations between Israel and officers who defected from the Syrian army with the support of certain Jordanian circles. The purpose of these negotiations, it is claimed, is to acquire the remains of Israeli spy, Eli Cohen, who was executed in Syria in the 1960s. The union, which includes members of Jordanian tribes of all provinces, condemned the special provisions offered to several deserting Syrian officers, a special treatment meant to allow them to meet with Israeli officials in Israel, which is referred to by the front as "the occupied territories." [[[[Spokesperson for the front, Sheikh Mohammad Halef Al-Hadid, told the newspaper that the Jordanian security services are aware of the secret meetings, said to negotiate the "American-Zionist plan for Syria," which aims to protect the border at the Golan Heights.]]]]] [[[[[[By that he implied that rebels will take control of areas on the Syrian-Israeli border. According to Al-Hadid, another aim of the meetings is to acquire the remains of Israeli spy Eli Cohen. He condemned the contact between Jordanian authorities and their Western and Zionist counterparts, ]]]]]and even warned the Syrian people of these "traitors and sneaks," claiming they pose a danger the revolution in Syria.

Syria challenges Israel on Lebanese soil. An effective approach, and one with which American can sympathize, would be if Israel seized the strategic initiative along its northern borders by engaging Hizballah, Syria, and Iran …[[[[[[[[[[ including by: …establishing the precedent that Syrian territory is not immune to attacks emanating from Lebanon by Israeli proxy forces. ]]]]]]]][[[[[[[[[[[[ Israel can shape its strategic environment, in cooperation with Turkey and Jordan, by weakening, containing, and even rolling back Syria. ]]]]]]]]]This effort can focus on removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq — an important Israeli strategic objective in its own right — as a means of foiling Syria’s regional ambitions. … Were the Hashemites to control Iraq, they could use their influence over Najf to help Israel wean the south Lebanese Shia away from Hizballah, Iran, and Syria.

Egypt Prevents Large-Scale Smuggling of Weapons into Gaza
Western sources have revealed that Egypt has prevented three instances of large-scale smuggling of weapons into the Gaza Strip since the end of operation Pillar of Defense. The activity against the weaponry smuggling is part of Egyptian-US coordination, agreed upon in the discussions involving US Secretary of Sate Hillary Clinton two days before the end of the operation. According to Western sources, the agreement includes assistance with US technological measures made available for Egyptian use, and intelligence cooperation in order to counter the smuggling of weapons.Israel and the US now expect that Egypt will do everything against the
smuggling of weapons through Egyptian territory into the Gaza Strip. According to the sources, Egyptian forces have foiled at least three instances to transfer significant quantities of weapons (two of which originated from Libya,
and another from Iran through Sudan).

JEWISH DAILY FORWARD:  Laying Groundwork for Life After Syria's Assad
As Regime Teeters, Jews Mull Outreach to Rebel Fighters http://forward.com/articles/168511/laying-groundwork-for-life-after-syrias-assad/
Still, some Syrian activists struggling for recognition of their fight to topple Assad recognize that their stance toward Israel may be a factor in their efforts to enlist international support.“There are many in the opposition who believe that Israeli concerns over change in Syria are, in part at least, behind the lack of a more proactive response by the international community to the situation in Syria,” said Ammar Abdulhamid, a Syrian pro-democracy activist. Abdulhamid is a fellow at Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a non-partisan Washington think tank that serves as an academic home for many neo-conservative thinkers. The group has emerged as one of the key players in forging ties with the budding Syrian opposition and urging a more active U.S. role in bringing about the demise of the Assad regime.A December 6 conference near Capitol Hill organized by FDD gave voice to those, both on the Syrian and the American side, who believe the Obama administration should get more deeply involved in shaping Syria’s future.“The U.S. has subcontracted our diplomacy to other parties,” said FDD senior fellow John Hannah, a former foreign policy adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney, at the event

Rafif Jouejati, a spokeswoman for the Syrian Local Coordinating Committees, a network of opposition groups active on the ground in Syria, told listeners in the capacity-filled conference room that lack of active U.S. support for the Syrian opposition “looks to the world like support for the Assad regime.Through the U.S. Institute of Peace, the administration has been working with Syrian opposition figures outside the country in an attempt to come up with ideas for “day after” scenarios, touching on many of the issues a new Syria will have to deal with.
[ed notes:Question ,what exactly was the spokeswoman/person for the syrian oppositions, ''local coordinating committees'' doing at a u.s. federal institution/zio-con pro war  think tank function discussing with zionists and pro israhell warmongers the overthrow of Assad? see, Older Post - THENAKEDFACTS  the lcc syria entity is the upheld and touted opposition view(internally and externally by ziocon west and also the clueless fake leftists supporting ZIO-CON /NATO intervention of Syria by same ones who brougth us Iraq/Afghanistan wars(same cabal wich had Syria on its hitlist next...for IsraHELL of course!) see,,  In Syria, U.S. should arm rebels, shape future political agenda, says Wolfowitz http://thenakedfacts.blogspot.com/2012/07/warcriminal-wolfowitzisrahells-who.html  Gen. These include maintaining the rights of the minority Alawite sect from which come Assad and many of Syria’s other top officials; setting rules for dealing with former Assad regime members, and building a democratic structure. The Obama administration’s approach on this issue has been evolving. On December 12 the United States officially recognized the Syrian Opposition Coalition, a representative body made up of rebel factions on the ground and their supporters outside Syria, thus paving the way for active American support. Notably absent from most discussions of Syria’s future is the question of its relations with Israel. During the run-up to the 2003 Iraq war, Jewish groups spoke at length with Iraqi opposition figures — in particular the U.S.-based activist Ahmad Chalabi — about a new era for Israeli–Iraqi relations once Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was ousted. But the war’s aftermath brought only disillusion on this front; Chalabi not only failed to attain supreme leadership of the country—he moved close to Iran, Israel’s most bitter adversary, in his struggle to increase his power.Later, the Arab Spring made it clear that Arab democracy does not necessarily entail more openness to relations with Israel,(just failed ,fragmented states unable to offer real resistance to it...,a Zionist PNAC Agenda) at least in the absence of any progress on the Israeli-Palestinian front and other territorial disputes between Israel and its neighbors.“The agreed line by the opposition is that the status quo in the Golan Heights will be maintained until conditions permit for organizing peace talks,” said Abdulhamid, referring to Israel’s occupation of that area since the 1967 Six Day War.This approach could satisfy Jewish and pro-Israel groups whose focus on Syria’s future government in any event prioritizes other concerns. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee in a recent memo focused on the danger Israel faces from Syrian chemical weapons stockpiles and ballistic missiles, which are believed to be capable of targeting central Israel. The three talking points issued by AIPAC call for international pressure to stop human rights abuses by the Assad regime, for an end to Syria’s support for anti-Israel terror groups, and for an international drive to investigate the country’s illicit nuclear programAccording to reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a secret visit to Jordan in December to discuss cooperation with Jordanian King Abdullah on countering the threat of Syrian chemical weapons being used by Assad or falling into the wrong hands once he’s out of office. Syrian opposition activist Radwan Ziadeh argued that such concerns should not deter the community from getting involved. “It is better to invest in the future than to hang on to the old regime,” said Ziadeh, director of the Syrian Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Washington. In his meetings with members of the Jewish community, Ziadeh talks about the role he sees for American Jews in helping the Syrian cause. “Now is the time for the Jewish community and for Israel to push the Obama administration to take action,” said Ziadeh, who supports American military intervention aimed at helping the opposition—a position rejected by mainstream Syrian government opponents.Despite American Jewish concerns and Israel’s relative comfort with the Assad regime as the devil it knows,(ed note:the one they demonize and have hostile relations with ,see.. Older Post - THENAKEDFACTS ISRAHELL AND ZIONAZIS WANT ASSAD OUT-FACT! PROOF! http://thenakedfacts.blogspot.com/2011/11/syriawatch-zionist-propaganda-alert-via.html
some Jewish groups are, in fact, reaching out to Syrian opposition, based on a joint humanitarian cause. The American Jewish Committee, which has hosted several events with Syrian dissidents, is active in bringing to light abuses carried out by the regime. “The options for Jewish groups as Jewish groups are relatively limited,” said Felice Gaer, director of the AJC’s Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights. “They cannot reach a peace agreement and will not solve the Syrian problem. But they can call for humane principles in the conduct of the government and those rebelling against it.”Gaer, who is also a commissioner on the United Nations Committee Against Torture, said that the Jewish community has a role to play in telling the world about “how brutal and vicious this conflict is and how brutal the government is in its use of torture.”But intervention by Jewish activists can, at times, be used against those it aims to help. When Bernard-Henri Levy, a Jewish French philosopher, called for international intervention to help oust Assad, members of left-wing Syrian opposition groups criticized his efforts and pointed to his support of Israel as an incriminating factor.“Jews will always be used by one side or another” in the conflict, Gaer argues in response. But the circumstances in Syria are so harsh and clear, she said, that there is no room for concern about Jewish support de-legitimizing the opposition. “If we speak to this issue we will not hurt the effort,” she said. “Turning an eye away from what’s going on, that is what can be seen as not legitimate.”

SYRIA CONFISCATES ISRAELI WEAPONS FROM REBELS
The Syrian army on Monday claimed to have thwarted a massive attack by a large number of terrorists who were trying to enter Syria through the Jordanian border, and also confiscated Israeli-made missiles and weapons from the armed rebels. The army claimed that they have confiscated (from rebels) Israeli-made LAV anti-tank missiles and several wireless equipment which were also made in Israel, Jahineh news website reported. The Syrian army also claimed to have prevented the armed rebels from crossing into Syria via neighbouring Jordan. Last month, the Syrian security forces were said to confiscate Israeli-made weapons from an Al-Qaeda ammunition depot in al-Lirmoun area of the Aleppo city. The weapons were found after heavy clashes erupted between the Syrian army and terrorists in al-Lirmoun area where many terrorists, including a Libyan national, were killed and many others fled the scene, Al-Arabi news website reported. The army attacked the terrorist centers in different parts of Aleppo, including al-Sha'ar, an old district of Aleppo, and the city's outskirts where many terrorists were killed.
Despite claims, Ikea Israel refuses to deliver to Palestinians in West Bank while serving settlers
Ikea publicly claims its Israeli store delivers to anyone regardless of race, religion or nationality. But new evidence shows that Ikea’s claim is false. At my request, Iyad Misk, a Hebrew-speaking Palestinian living in the West Bank, called Ikea to ask about home delivery to the Palestinian village of Beit Sahour near Bethlehem. In a 3 December email I was told the phone call was transferred to the store’s delivery company Moviley Dror. The company’s representative “Sholy” said that while delivery to the checkpoint near Bethlehem would be possible, Moviley Dror would not enter the Palestinian Authority areas because they are dangerous, Sholy claimed.Sholy clarified that Moviley Dror would not pass the checkpoint, even if the area is classified as Area C under the Oslo accords (part of the village of Beit Sahour is in Area C). This covers over 60 percent of the West Bank, under full Israeli military control.Around 150,000 Palestinians live in Area C, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. In total, over 650,000 Israeli settlers live in the occupied West Bank, including 300,000 in East Jerusalem, reported British newspaper The Guardian in July. It is obvious that the settlers represent a substantial market for Ikea. After the Ikea store in Nethanya was destroyed in a fire in 2011, the store in Rishon Lezion, opened on 9th of March 2010, is the only IKEA store to serve the Israeli market. Apartheid practices by Ikea delivery The same day, I asked Who Profits (a research project from the Tel Aviv-based Coalition of Women for Peace) to also contact Ikea by phone and see what happened when they were asked to deliver to an Israeli settlement, also in the West Bank.Who Profits said an email to me that it had asked Ikea about home delivery to the settlement ofBeitar Ilit — in order to get to Beitar Ilit you also have to pass through checkpoints. Like the other settlements in the West Bank, Beitar Ilit is in Area C.The call was also transferred to Moviley Dror. Asked if Moviley Dror delivers Ikea products to Beitar Ilit, the response was “yes.” Moviley Dror’s answer shows that Ikea passes through checkpoints to deliver its products to Israeli settlers in the West Bank but not to indigenous Palestinians in the West Bank.

Time to start a Twitter war of the bots?
Most Twitter users try to ignore messages from robot accounts. But maybe we should be putting bots to work for a more noble cause—democracy, writes the University of Washington’s Philip N. Howard
One estimate holds that 75 percent of all Twitter traffic is generated by the most active users—about 5 percent of Twitter accounts.One-third of those active users are believed to be machine bots tweeting more than 150 times a day,” he writes for Slate: Most of these crafty bots generate inane commentary and try to sell stuff, but some are given political tasks. For example, pro-Chinese bots have clogged Twitter conversations about the conflict in Tibet. In Mexico’s recent presidential election, the political parties played with campaign bots on Twitter. … Furthermore, the Chinese, Iranian, Russian, and Venezuelan governments employ their own social media experts and pay small amounts of money to large numbers of people (“50 cent armies”) to generate pro-government messages, if inefficiently.
During the Cold War, Western diplomats smuggled fax machines to the democracy advocates behind the Iron Curtain. For a while now, we’ve been sending satellite phones to activists who need help organizing supporters. But we aren’t yet taking advantage of Twitter robots. Let’s put those tools to work promoting democratic values, expanding the news diets of people in other countries, and critiquing tough dictators.
[ed note:translation ..he wants to use twitter bots to target governments who dont succum to zionist control and dominion..instead of using real people and real tweets,he prefers using machine bots to spread lies, disinfo, against anti imperialist countries...hasbara bot armies to spread pro democracy propaganda anyone?
Inevitably, this will result in some sort of Twitter war of the robots, some promoting democracy, some decrying it. I suppose anti-democracy robots can target their own citizens at home or abroad, but they would probably have little impact on the people living in democracies. Sure, maybe this will clog up Twitter a bit. But we need a strategic response to 50-cent armies and the existing authoritarian bots.
[ed notes:there is no such thing as 50 cent bot armies employed by gov's he mentions, its all b.s. !only 50 cent bot armies around, are the ones from us state dept, zionist organizations, and of course israhell!!!In case you though he wasnt a fraud.this should convince you immediatly...he promotes the us state dept (controlled by zionists)subversive ''democratization techniques''...  The State Department has had an impressive overhaul since 2008, bringing in talent with fresh credentials and a new literacy for how statecraft needs to be conducted in a digital world. The State Department has a nascent strategy to encourage democratic movements by actively supporting civil society and for actively engaging social networks through digital media. This has been a forward thinking, innovative approach to statecraft.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/philip-n-howard/state-department-arab-spring_b_820458.html

Recent Grant Program Award Recipients. UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, Seattle, WA (Project Director(s): Philip N. Howard): This project will construct the first large-N event database of incidents in which digital media has been used for civic engagement, non-violent conflict, and political activism. A successful pilot was undertaken last year, and the current focus of work is to complete the coding and build online analysis and visualization tools. In the final phase, the project team will launch a public release of both raw data and key findings for use by foreign policy analysts, journalists, and the interested public. This initiative seeks to raise the level of foreign policy expertise in the evolving dynamics of international relations in a digital era. Specifically, this work will address the need for broad perspective and cross-case comparison of how digital media has had an impact on non-violent outcomes. $82,442
