US Drug War or Curacao Contact? DEA Agents, Framing Venezuela, Dirty Honduran Military Officers and Assassination of Honduras’ Drug Czarhttp://hondurasoye.wordpress.com/2010/01/10/us-drug-war-or-curacao-contact-dea-agents-framing-venezuela-dirty-honduran-military-officers-and-assassination-of-honduras-drug-czar/#respond

DEA made a crucial contribution to the coup in Honduras as the majority of the country’s army command used to be on its payroll. Much to the displeasure of DEA, Zelaya planned to purge the corrupt officers corps. The November, 29 “election” of Porfirio Lobo Sosa as the President of Honduras coincided in time with the assassination of Gen. Julian Aristides Gonzalez, director general of the National Office for Combating Drug Trafficking, by two gunmen riding motorcycles in Tegucigalpa. Reportedly, Gonzalez was going to write a book about his transactions with DEA and had a lot to tell about its ties with the Honduran cartels.

Bribery in Colombia than FDIhttp://www.telesurtv.net/noticias/secciones/nota/64922-NN/sobornos-en-colombia-superan-la-inversion-extranjera-directa/

Anti-corruption expert from Colombia, Oscar Ortiz, said in an interview that you conduct the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo that the situation in bribes to get government procurement limits''as''development initiatives will not allow others to get to be approved by the competent bodies.Colombia's anti-corruption czar, Oscar Ortiz said Sunday that the number of bribes in the South American country for procurement amounted to 3.9 trillion pesos in 2009 (two million U.S. dollars), equivalent to a year in foreign investment straightforward as that of 2007 which was 3.7 billion (1.9 billion).

"In recruitment, the facts of corruption are high-profile, high impact and high degree of impunity: a lot of corruption " Ortiz said in an interview published by the Colombian daily El Tiempo on its website."In Bogotá, for example, the Maintenance Unit of the Malla Vial contract made two processes: one for more than 40 billion pesos (20 million) and another for more than 36 billion (18 million) ( ...) As an experience, among others, were asked to prove the supply of 20 thousand cubic meters of asphalt in a contract. That is exorbitant and, under these conditions, only two or three companies could be eligible bidders. We made a warning conditions were exclusive.

Disadvantages both to the state because it would have more options to the right of individuals to work with public resources. activate the alarms and the entity received a few comments. It is therefore able to present eight bidders in the two bids, "Ortiz reviewed.Equally serious is the issue of royalties from the exploitation of nonrenewable natural resources , instead of being a great opportunity to reach the South American nation development, "has become many times in giant hotbed of corruption ".

In recent years, Colombia has been embroiled in several corruption cases where, even, has questioned the legality of various important processes in electoral matters, and even members of Congress have been involved in bribery cases to take decisions in favor of the ruling party of President Álvaro Uribe of the nation.

Laura Carlsen:  'The militarization is not the way to address the political crisis in Mexico. "http://www.telesurtv.net/noticias/entrev-reportajes/index.php?ckl=442

Interview with Laura Carlsen, director of the Americas Program International Relations Center (IRC) on Obama's role in the militarization of Mexico and denounced the increased presence of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other agents U.S. in the country, as well as private security companies.

Laura Carlsen: Plan Mexico, also called Merida Initiative, is a triennial plan for regional security cooperation developed by the Bush administration and presented in October 2007. The plan arose from the extension of NAFTA to security areas, known as SPP Alliance for Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America. Originally Plan Mexico should be announced in the context of the tri-national SPP summit but was delayed. It is presented as a request of Mexican President Felipe Calderón of U.S. aid to the war against drugs, but in reality was prepared in Washington as a way of "extending the borders" of the U.S. security perimeter, ie Mexico deal with U.S. security priorities, including policing its southern border and to allow U.S. companies and agents involved in intelligence and security operations in Mexico. Mexico proposed Plan of $ 1,400 million mainly in foreign military financing. It is described as a proposed "counternarcotics, counterterrorism and border security."

"After his election as president, Felipe Calderón began to use the military in the so-called War on Drugs. Since then there has been a permanent increase in troop deployments and escalating violence. What is Washington's role in this ongoing counter-insurgency operation?  LC: The Obama has supported the plan and has even requested and received from Congress, additional funds beyond what is requested by the Bush administration. In the three years since Calderon launched the drug war in Mexico with U.S. government support the drug-related violence has increased to more than 15,000 performances and formal reports on human rights violations have multiplied by six. More than 45,000 soldiers have been deployed in streets and communities throughout Mexico. Washington acknowledges serious problems with the model of the drug war and yet continues to claim, absurdly, that the escalating violence in Mexico is a good sign - means that cartels are feeling the pressure, the argument goes. The plan itself contains no actual parameter of what people should expect as signs of progress so you can continue to be funded despite its failure.

- Is there intelligence officers, Special Forces or mercenaries, U.S. conducting counterinsurgency operations in Mexico? Are calls to Mexico to allow U.S. military operate in Mexico due to security agreements and / or trade?  LC: Mexico does not allow U.S. soldiers in its territory. However, there are a growing presence of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other U.S. agents in the country, as well as private security companies. We have a good system to track the presence and activities of private firms contracted for security and training purposes. It is a major problem.

What effect has the militarization of political expression? How has the grassroots organizations, unions and indigenous groups? Has there been an increase in military-related violence, including rape, beatings, torture and murder?  LC: There has been an increase in human rights violations by the armed forces. In some regions, dissident leaders have been attacked by the military. Women, indigenous people, migrants, dissidents and people are particularly vulnerable.  Note: "The militarization of Mexico has led to a sharp increase in homicides related to the drug war. It has led to violations and abuses of women by soldiers in communities across the country. The human rights complaints against the armed forces have sextuplicado ... Mexican armed forces are not subject to civil justice systems, but their own military courts. These are very rarely in convictions. " "The Perils of Plan Mexico," Laura Carlsen, Counterpunch

More than 50 Mexican human rights organizations have petitioned Congress to withdraw its support for the Merida Initiative. His letter says: "We respectfully request that the U.S. Congress and the State Department does not allocate funds and direct programs to the armed forces both in the Merida Initiative and other programs to support public safety in Mexicoa ... "We urge the U.S. to consider ways to support an integrated response to security problems, based on the coping of the root causes of violence and full respect for human rights, not in the logic of fighting .

- Have you seen any improvement or change in policy since the election of Barack Obama? LC: No. The government has given its full support to the failed war on drugs. But there are signs of political reform for the drug in domestic politics that could potentially affect how you see the foreign anti-narcotics efforts. The rhetoric of "shared responsibility" is not really anything new, and efforts to reduce traffic and demand for weapons have not been followed by new policies. The focus is still primarily military and violent, without any money included in the Merida Initiative to health issues such as treatment or prevention of addiction.

Goldcorp is also blamed for illegally purchasing local lands, depleting local water, negatively impacting crops and cattle, and damaging more than 100 homes as a result of digging and blasting at the mine. Further, some mining opponents have been “disappeared” and brutally murdered, while others have been arbitrarily arrested.

HudBay Minerals – In September 2009, two Maya Qeqchi were killed and more than a dozen injured in two separate attacks connected to HudBay Minerals’ nickel mine in El Estor, Guatemala. In the first attack, HudBay’s private security forces opened fire on the Mayas while attempting to remove them from their land. One person was killed and at least eight others were injured by bullets. The second attack involved a group of men armed with machine guns opening fire on a mini-bus. Again, one person was killed, and nine others wounded. This is but the latest in a long line of attacks and human rights violations against Indigenous Peoples in El Estor, Guatemala. Indigenous People, who only want to live their own lives and meet their own needs, without being poisoned, molested and sacrificed.

Skye Resource – In early 2007, hundreds of police and soldiers forcibly evicted the inhabitants of communities living on their ancestral land, which the Guatemalan military government gave to the Canadian mining company INCO in 1965. Skye Resources now claims the land. In January, 2007, with the army and police at their side, company workers took chainsaws and torches to people’s homes, while women and children stood by. Skye Resources claims that they maintained “a peaceful atmosphere during this action.” Either way, the fact remains: it’s Mayan land.

Israeli general Brigadier-General Uzi Eilam denies Iran is nuclear threathttp://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article6982447.ece

– A general who was once in charge of Israel’s nuclear weapons has claimed that Iran is a “very, very, very long way from building a nuclear capability”.  Brigadier-General Uzi Eilam, 75, a war hero and pillar of the defence establishment, believes it will probably take Iran seven years to make nuclear weapons.

Iran can be bombed says General Petraeushttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/6963311/Iran-can-be-bombed-says-General-Petraeus.html

The US military commander for the Middle East and the Gulf region has confirmed that the United States has developed contingency plans to deal with Iran's nuclear facilities. Gen David Petraeus, head of Central Command or Centcom, did not elaborate on the plans, but said the military has considered the impacts of any action taken there.

Never Mind the Facts, Let’s Have a War…http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=CUN20100107&articleId=16834

This is a propaganda system at work: the choice of words and framework of logic designed to condition people into accepting certain options. In this case, the pre-determined option is a unilateral military strike on Iran either by the US or Israel. In that event, it will of course be reported by the BBC and other western media as a “pre-emptive” military measure to “prevent” Iran from attacking western interests in the region.

Reported too, no doubt, will be the “collateral damage” of civilian casualties – unfortunate victims in an otherwise “just cause” to bring a “hardline regime” to abide by “international norms”. This is classic thought engineering that British political essayist George Orwell exposed so brilliantly – the official use of sanitised words to cover the sordid truth. So let’s rewind and play back the news with some pertinent facts and context that are routinely omitted in western media reporting.

Obama's Yemeni odyssey targets Chinahttp://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/LA09Ak02.html

Israel moves in  But Obama is first and foremost a realist. Emotions and personal beliefs drain away and strategic considerations weigh uppermost when he works in the Oval Office. With the military presence in Yemen, the US has tightened the cordon around Iran. In the event of a military attack on Iran, Yemen could be put to use as a springboard by the Israelis. These are weighty considerations for Obama.  The fact is that no one is in control as a Yemeni authority. It is a cakewalk for the formidable Israeli intelligence to carve out a niche in Yemen - just as it did in northern Iraq under somewhat comparable circumstances.

VIDEO-Domestic Espionage - Houston Using Drones on Americanshttp://newsjunkiepost.com/2010/01/08/domestic-espionage-alert-spy-drone-discovered/

"KPRC news in Houston recently filmed a secret experiment by law enforcement agencies including the Dept. of Homeland Security of a drone intended to spy on Americans.

The Houston Police Department responded with the following statement, “Potential public safety applications include mobility, evacuations, homeland security, search and rescue, as well as tactical.”

Such benign excuses were also used during the passage of draconian bills such as FISA and the Patriot Act before it was revealed the much more insidious and rampant applications of those tools."

The 'false' pandemic: Drug firms cashed in on scare over swine flu, claims Euro health chiefhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1242147/The-false-pandemic-Drug-firms-cashed-scare-swine-flu-claims-Euro-health-chief.html#ixzz0cH3LeUCS

The swine flu outbreak was a 'false pandemic' driven by drug companies that stood to make billions of pounds from a worldwide scare, a leading health expert has claimed. Wolfgang Wodarg, head of health at the Council of Europe, accused the makers of flu drugs and vaccines of influencing the World Health Organisation's decision to declare a pandemic. This led to the pharmaceutical firms ensuring 'enormous gains', while countries, including the UK, 'squandered' their meagre health budgets, with millions being vaccinated against a relatively mild disease.

ID CARDS INTERGOVERNMENTAL COOPERATION IN WORLDWIDE IMPLEMENTATIONhttp://fromthewilderness.wordpress.com/2010/01/11/id-cards-intergovernmental-cooperation-in-worldwide-implementation/

"Electronic ID cards have made alarming progress towards becoming universal, around the world. Already, over 2.2 billion people, or 33% of the world's population, have been issued with 'smart' ID cards. Of those, over 900 million have biometric facial and fingerprint systems. On present plans, over 85% of the world's population will have smart ID cards by 2012. Most of the remaining population won't have escaped - largely, they are already enrolled in earlier generation ID systems, often in repressive states, such as Myanmar (Burma)..." -Nathan Allonby, ID cards - a World View

The manufacturers of such machines claim they are perfectly safe and present no health risks, but a study conducted by Boian S. U.S. intelligence agents, having lost out to enemy “intelligence agents,” even after being transformed into full-time assassins, are now locked in a mortal struggle with an enemy for whom assassination is also a crucial tactic, but whose operatives seem to have better informants and better information.

ITALY: Southern Italian town world's 'only white town' after ethnic cleansing http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jan/11/italy-rosarno-violence-immigrants/print

"Rosarno in southern Italy had, by last night, been turned into what one politician termed the world's only entirely white town after a bloody ethnic cleansing that produced scenes reminiscent of the old American deep south. As bulldozers got to work to obliterate shacks belonging to the itinerant crop-pickers who had fled, the last of more than 1,000 such workers were being removed from the area for their own protection.

After two days and nights of violence that began with the apparently motiveless shooting of two African workers, the number of injured stood at 53, comprising 18 police, 14 local people and 21 immigrants, eight of whom were in hospital." and: Immigrants riot in Italy amid racial unrest http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/LDE60716O.htm"Clashes between immigrants and locals in a southern Italian town entered a second day on Friday, with the government rushing extra police to try to stem one of the worst episodes of racial unrest in years."
