President Alvaro Uribe has not kept his promises to the Colombian people during his term of office, experts reported.Uribe, whose national administration concludes in August, has participated in about 280 community councils since he occupied Casa Narino in 2002.During this time and in exchanges with the public in different regional communities, the president made more than 4,780 promises, according to a count broadcast by Radio Caracol station.

However, it was announced that even in 2010, 34 percent of these promises are still being executed or they simply never became a reality.Referring to a geographic distribution of promises, the departments that have heard more oratory from the president are Cundinamarca, Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Bolivar, Santander, Cauca, and Magdalena.

Most proposals of the head of state referred to public health and jobs, but he also spoke of changes in road infrastructure, transportation and in the agricultural sector.A week ago, a group of political leaders in Cucuta recommended the citizens to refrain from participating in the meetings planned by Uribe.According to counselor victor Suarez, general unrest arose because many residents in the North of Santander said the Bogota government did not answer to concerns of the inhabitants of those jurisdictions.
