FM: Venezuela will talk to the United States when it stops "interventionism" http://english.eluniversal.com/2010/04/01/en_pol_esp_fm:-venezuela-will-t_01A3676075.shtml
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicolas Maduro has once again rejected US government interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela and asserted that "in this multipolar world no country agrees to be tutored or discredited by another country, and particularly not by the US."
Maduro said that he does not rule out dialogue with the United States, but stressed that this can only occur under the principles of equality and respect, reported official news agency ABN. "When a proposal to talk is made, we talk. What we as a government demand is a cease on interventionism and deep changes in US policy toward Venezuela," he said.
In recent days, Venezuela delivered a protest note to the US ambassador in Caracas, Patrick Duddy. Caracas rejected the statements of a Washington official who questioned a ruling issued by a Venezuelan court to opposition leader Oswaldo Alvarez Paz, who is arrested and faces charges of plotting, spreading of false information and incitement to commit a crime.
