Panamanian opposition  disclose U.S. military presence images http://www.telesurtv.net/noticias/secciones/nota/72575-NN/oposicion-panamena-divulga-imagenes-de-presencia-militar-estadounidense/

The opposition Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) of Panama on Wednesday released images that show the U.S. military presence in the nation."They are developing work in Metetí that is unknown by the community" and "moving internally in our own vehicles," says the PRD in a statement. The opposition showed photographs that could see a group of soldiers at a hotel in the Darien province, which borders Colombia.

The place harboring the movements of the soldiers were held by the State Border Service (Seanafront). The U.S. military presence was noted by the political movement on Monday when he declared that there was a report that revealed the presence of members on U.S. Army in the border town of Panama and, likewise, it reported the existence of containers and movement of  U.S military. "The country has a right to know who is operating over its territory," said general secretary of the PRD, Mitchell Does, on Tuesday.

With the withdrawal of the PRD, the right-wing government of President Ricardo Martinelli, justified the presence of U.S. Marines, and argued that it was part of a humanitarian civic assistance plan that was led the U.S. military's Southern Command. The (de Does) is confusing an exercise in civic action called New Horizon wich has been done with many governments PRD. Once again  Mr de Does attacks without any foundation, "said Monday President and Panamanian Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Varela.

According to the Panamanian government operating with the participation of the National System of Civil Protection and Senafront and extends to the provinces of Veraguas, Chiriqui and Herrera. One of the major concerns of the PRD is that the events are happening in an area which is located 80 kilometers from the border with Colombia, a nation where guerrillas operate.

For its part, Washington said Tuesday it had agreed with Panama and the United States to deepen its fight against drug trafficking and inspect the entry of illegal aliens into that Central American country. To accomplish this task, USA effected intelligence operations and maritime patrol along the coast of Panama. Since the early twentieth century with the construction of the Panama Canal, the country had the presence of U.S. military troops, but these were withdrawn from the nation on December 31, 1999 when the waterway was recovered by the Panamanian government.

Before the plan of the Government of the Central American country to have the U.S. military to combat drug trafficking, many Panamanian social organizations have spoken out against the installation of military bases in the country and elsewhere in Latin America. In late 2009, the National Front for the Defense of Economic and Social Rights in Panama (Frenadeso), expressed his rejection of the plan that the government had to establish U.S. military bases in Panama. At this time, the Peace and Justice Service (Serpaj) Panama had also rejected this project to be deployed in Panama, who was already established in Colombia.
