carlos_da_mackeral: China smarts at US slap By: Peter Lee http://www.atimes.com/atimes/China/LG02Ad03.html

Today, encouraging friction with China by pushing the foreign relations of the Korean Peninsula into a confrontation/security frame of reference may play to America's military strengths, but it may also convince Beijing that it has more vital interests at stake than maintaining its close economic relationships with South Korea's chaebol (business conglomorates). Perhaps it would be advisable for the United States and South Korea to help China forget the history and heroics of the Korean War, instead of reminding Beijing how and why it joined the conflict in the first place.
