Hegemons try to taint freedom fighters with terrorist label: Leader http://tehrantimes.com/index_View.asp?code=243052

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that Iran regards campaigning against terrorism as its bounden duty. The Leader made the remarks in a message to the International Conference on Global Fight against Terrorism, which opened at the Summit Conference Hall in Tehran yesterday and closes today. “We, as a nation that has suffered huge losses from violent terrorism over the past three decades, regard campaigning against this evil phenomenon as our bounden duty. And we will push ahead with our efforts in this great campaign with full strength,” the message read.

“In the view of the leaders of the hegemonistic system, terrorism is what poses a threat to their illegitimate interests. They regard fighters who are exercising their legitimate right to fight against occupiers and invaders as terrorists but do not regard their vicious and mercenary elements, who undermine security and put the lives of innocent people in danger, as terrorists,” the Leader wrote.Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader criticized the United States for providing support to organized terrorists in regional countries. He added that the hegemonistic powers have taken advantage of the slogan of combating terrorism to achieve their political objectives and serve their illegitimate interests.
