A transnational commitment to imperial interests, focusing on destabilization and subversion, those seem to be nowadays the reason to exist and the practice handbook of the big private media in Venezuela and the region, said the journalist Jose Vicente Rangel, during his speech at the granting of the Anibal Nazoa Award this Saturday.

“Currently, the media have been transformed into the spearhead for the aggression against social changes. That is what we can see in the entire region. In Argentina, the Government of Cristina Fernandez is hounded by a media with an extraordinary power: Clarin; in Peru, against Humala, the hound was led by the newspaper El; and the same happens in Ecuador and Brazil,” he explained.
