Iran has won $2.5bln in financial rows with the US at international bodies, a senior Iranian official announced on Saturday. "The performance record of the unit which deals with financial complains and litigations in relation to the Algiers Declaration and has, so far, worked on about 4,000 cases, shows that billions of dollars of compensation claimed by American real and legal persons from the Islamic Republic of Iran's government and governmental bodies have been rejected," Head of the Presidential Center for International Legal Affairs Majid Jafarzadeh said.

Jafarzadeh mentioned that around $2.5bln has been cashed from the US, and added that Iran has also reclaimed ownership of a large amount of properties, stocks and estates which belonged to the Islamic Republic but had been given to American complainants in various cases.Tehran has been under Washington sanctions after the 1979 Islamic Revolution which included a seizure of Iran's properties in the US by Washington.
