Three Katyusha rockets struck near the US embassy in Baghdad's Green Zone, home to several Iraqi government offices and foreign embassies, on Monday. Sound of sirens was heard in the Green Zone immediately after the attacks, with the US choppers hovering and flying over the area. There was no immediate confirmation of any casualties by the attacks, which followed major sets of coordinated explosions in Baghdad in recent days. The heavily fortified Green Zone has been frequently targeted by insurgents' mortar and rocket attacks. The roughly 10 square km zone is located on the West bank of the Tigris River, which bisects the Iraqi capital.
