Indian lawmaker lambasts US hegemonic policies http://www.irna.ir/ENNewsShow.aspx?NID=30511180&SRCH=1

Slamming the US hegemonic policies, an Indian lawmaker on Monday said that the illegal wars imposed on Iraq and Afghanistan has dragged it into financial crisis. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Syed Hasan Ahmed, MLA of Delhi Assembly said: “The US’s downgrade reflects its own hegemonic policies, that has created the volatile situation in the entire world, not only on political front, but also on economic front”.

Reciting the famous stanzas of a poet, meaning the US is burning through its own lamp, he explained that the recent debt crisis in the US is the result of its gigantic military expenditure. And the continuing debt problem proves how the neo-liberal policies have reached a dead end, the Indian politician added. “The Obama Administration is not learning any lessons from this crisis and continues to adhere to neo-liberal policies,” Hasan noted while referring to the US’s military intervention in Libya.

Quoting recent reports and analysis on the US financial crisis, he said: “The United States has been eating outside of its diet (budget deficit), biting off more than it can chew (debt crisis), and doing so in a weakened financial condition (declining GDP)”. He urged the US to adopt “live and let-live” policy and to give up being the world policeman. “Otherwise the doomsday for the self-styled super power is very near,” noted Ahmed. “It is high-time for the US to address its structural debt problems and reset its stagnated economy,” he suggested.
