VENEZUELA BUILDS MORE PUBLIC HOMES IN GREATER CARACAS CAPITAL DISTRICT http://www.namnewsnetwork.org/v2/read.php?id=170790

Venezuela has accelerated the construction of homes in its Capital District and Miranda and Vargas states known as Greater Caracas to fulfill a plan to build 70,894 between this year and the next.The project, part of the "Great Mission Housing Venezuela" aims to build decent houses to residents of those areas especially those living in poor conditions, in loaned or rented property and for people in shelters following the heavy rains in 2010 and earlier this year.

This was disclosed by Francisco Sesto, Minister of State for the Revolutionary Transformation of Greater Caracas in a radio programme where he said the project is the equivalent of building a city for 300,000 inhabitants.Sesto said that 5,998 houses have aƱready been completed and the authorities plan to deliver another 20,475 by the end of Dec to complete 26,473 houses by this year.Sesto said the "Great Mission Housing Venezuela" is a major effort by the government to solve the housing shortage in the country.

The initiative includes building 353,000 homes between this year and the next and maintain a rate of between 250,000 and 300,000 to complete two million households by 2017.In Aug, President Hugo Chavez approved funds to build 37,844 houses in the capital region to benefit families affected by heavy rains.
