Canada stops $10 million funding for Unesco over Palestinians http://www.abna.ir/data.asp?lang=3&Id=275955
Canada joined the US on Tuesday in cutting off funding for the UN cultural agency Unesco because it approved a Palestinian bid for full membership Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said Monday's decision by Unesco is not in the best interests of peace in the Middle East, so Canada is freezing all future voluntary contributions to the agency. Canada contributes about $10 million a year."We're just deeply concerned with the decision that Unesco has taken," Baird said. "This issue should be negotiated between the two parties. It is not in the best interests of peace in the Middle East and we're, you know, tremendously disappointed."

ReplyDeleteCanadian citizens are not happy with With their governments decision. Check the "comments" there was quite a debate going on.
I am not sure if you can see the comments unless you join but you may. It's free to join anyways so take the time to register if you have to but the people Canadians say a lot. They are not happy with the conservatives. In general they are not happy with the support given to Israel. Next election Harper will be voted out I do believe. There were a few pro Israeli supporters there but very few. They pretty much just repeated the same old lines over and over. You might find some important information as well. Some of the commentors had shared some pretty valuable information. So be sure to check out the comments section.
