Randa Fahmy, Vice President of the Egyptian American Rule of Law Association (EARLA), spoke about her organization’s efforts to support local rule of law advocates. Nathan Brown, Professor at George Washington University and Nonresident Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, addressed different reasons for concern and optimism over the situation, while Michael Wahid Hanna, Fellow at the Century Foundation, analyzed the initial election results and highlighted some prospects for the future. Leila Hilal, Co-Director of the Middle East Task Force at the New America Foundation, moderated the discussion.
