SYRIA'S OPPOSITION MILITARY RECEIVE ARMS - COMMANDER   http://www.namnewsnetwork.org/v2/read.php?id=191849

The Syrian opposition group, called "the free Syrian officers," is receiving weapons from some states, affirmed a senior officer of the opposition movement on Saturday. Colonel Hussam Eddine Al-Awwak, the commander of operations of the "free Syrian officers," said in a statement that soldiers of the group receive orders from inside Syria. "The group comprises officers from all communities that exist all over Syria," he added. Among the officers serving in the ranks of the opposition movement are those who have been laid off by the regime "on mistrust charges," Col. Al-Awwak said. Elaborating, he said the force has an intelligence unit that ensures that those who defect from the regime army do not conceal double loyalties. The colonel indicated that the opposition forces were preparing for full-scale war, in coordination with the "the popular movement for alliance of change," of Dr. Wael Al-Hafez, based in Paris. He criticized the National Council for "it has not played the role aspired by the people's movement."  -- NNN-KUNA
