WASHINGTON, May 12 (NNN-KUNA) -- Bahrain's Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa met here Friday with senior U.S. officials during which they discussed a number of issues and the eminent hosts re-affirmed Washington's commitment to partnership with Manama.U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, during the meeting with the Crown Prince, "re-affirmed the United States' commitment to our long-standing partnership with the Government of Bahrain and discussed with the Crown Prince steps to strengthen those ties," the Office of the Vice President announced. 

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta also met Sheikh Salman at the Pentagon, discussing "the full range of regional and bilateral issues including Bahrain's support of United States Naval Forces Central Command."

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in a statement that during the meeting, Panetta "affirmed the long-standing commitment of the United States to a strong partnership with both the people and the Government of Bahrain." 

They also discussed "Bahraini Government's ongoing efforts to implement the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI)."

The Crown Prince also met, earlier this week, during his visit to the U.S. capital, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. -- NNN-KUNA
