Information Ministry on Tuesday said that the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US city of New York led to wars and dangerous violations of the international law, human rights and the UN Charter as well as to mounting terrorism phenomenon all over the world as a result of the polices adopted by the US and its allies.“The international terrorism phenomenon mounted due to the support of the US and its allies to Israel which practices a state systemized terrorism against the Muslims and Arabs in the occupied Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan,” a statement by the Information Ministry on the 11th anniversary of the attacks said.
The statement saw that one of the important reasons behind the mounting phenomenon of terrorism during the latest years was the double standard policy which became a destructive pattern for the US-western policies, apart from, the support offered to the armed terrorist groups in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and other places in the world by Arab and foreign intelligence sides, as well western and regional countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Israel, the US, France.. whether it was financial, military, political or human support.
“Syria has always called for an international comprehensive act to combat terrorism which includes a unified stance to counter it, a clear definition of it with all its forms, based on punishing and prosecuting those who support and perpetrate acts of terror,” the statement said.It added that “while we assert that Syria’s stance is still firm to achieve a fruitful, serious international cooperation to counter terrorism, we appeal to the UN, regional and international organizations for a real and objective approach, based on the UN charter and principles of the international law to put an end to the terrorism and prosecute those of support it.”The Ministry underlined that what is being happening in Syria of terrorism is an evidence on the violation of the international law from the interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign country or from the support of well known sides to the terror and terrorists.
