The 50-year-old Iraqi-born engineer worked at Rutherford Appleton research centre in the 1980s. And this, fuel conspiracy theories about the gun attack in which he and his companions were killed, British media reported.
According to an ex-colleague at the Rutherford lab in Didcot, Oxon, Saad worked on a giant particle accelerator which can make radioactive material.
“He was extremely bright and hardworking. He came into Rutherford for a work experience placement when he was studying a degree at Kingston University in 1984, and he regularly came back in the summers”, said the friend.“I can’t think of any reason why anything like this would have happened to Saad. He had no enemies whatsoever”, he said. But, he added: “Saad didn’t like Americans and didn’t mind saying so. He would tell me about things they were doing in Iraq which hadn’t been reported here and when I looked into them they seemed to be true.”Saad moved to the UK in 1978 when his family fled Iraq in fear of the then regime of executed Iraqi dictator Saddam after a relative was attacked.
