Retired General Blames US for Terrorist Attacks in Pakistan
Former Director of Pakistan's Military Intelligence Organization General Hamid Gol took the US responsible for growing terrorists attacks in the South Asian state. At least seven people were killed and more than 50 injured on Saturday when militants launched a coordinated attack on the airport of Pakistan's Northwestern city of Peshawar. According to FNA dispatches, Gol blamed the US for growing terrorist attacks in his country, saying, "The US has never been a friend of Pakistan before and would not help the country's progress in the future, either." "Given the fact that the US has been behind most terrorist attacks in Peshawar, it seems that insurgents have, this time too, targeted Peshawar airport with the US backup," Gol underscored. "The US is seeking to weaken Pakistan and destroy its nuclear energy," he warned. Pakistani tribal regions are attacked by US drones almost regularly, with Washington claiming that militants are the targets. However, casualty figures clearly indicate that Pakistani civilians are the main victims.
