Arab newspaper quotes Jordan elements as saying Syrian defectors are in contact with Israel to return Eli Cohen's remains.
The London-based newspaper Al-Quds al-Arabi reported on Monday that a union of several Jordanian tribes has issued a warning regarding secret negotiations between Israel and officers who defected from the Syrian army with the support of certain Jordanian circles. The purpose of these negotiations, it is claimed, is to acquire the remains of Israeli spy, Eli Cohen, who was executed in Syria in the 1960s. The union, which includes members of Jordanian tribes of all provinces, condemned the special provisions offered to several deserting Syrian officers, a special treatment meant to allow them to meet with Israeli officials in Israel, which is referred to by the front as "the occupied territories." [[[[Spokesperson for the front, Sheikh Mohammad Halef Al-Hadid, told the newspaper that the Jordanian security services are aware of the secret meetings, said to negotiate the "American-Zionist plan for Syria," which aims to protect the border at the Golan Heights.]]]]] [[[[[[By that he implied that rebels will take control of areas on the Syrian-Israeli border.
