As part of its blockade against Cuba, the United States banned Doctor VĂctor Margolin, emeritus professor of the Illinois University, from attending the international meeting on design Forma 2013, on June 18-20, in Havana. In exclusive remarks to Prensa Latina, President of the organizing committee of the event, Sergio Pena, said that this new prohibition is a proof of the crazy US policy of blockade imposed on Cuba for over half a century.Pena, who is also Rector of the Industrial Design Institute, said that Margolin, an expert in sustainable design and environment, had applied for a travel permit, but the relevant US authorities failed to give him an answer about it.According to Pena, the organizing committee of Forma 2013 will file an official complaint for this new violation of the possibility of equitable exchange among scholars from the two countries.Margolin, who co-edits the Design Issues magazine, the first publication in Latin America about design history, theory and critic, had been among figures invited to this international congress during which he was scheduled to give a masterly lecture on design and he risk of change.Under the slogan "Design for All," the international event on design, running at the Havana Convention Center, is being attended by 300 delegates from twelve countries, mainly from Latin America and Europe
