Mordechai Vanunu wins human rights prize of Brazilian Press Association
 http://www.alternativenews.org/english/index.php/features/updates/7038-mordechai-vanunu-wins-human-rights-prize-of-brazilian-press-association
Mordechai Vanunu, the Israeli whistleblower who exposed details of Israel's nuclear weapons programme to the world in 1986, has been awarded the 2013 human rights prize of the Brazilian Press Association (ABI). ABI awarded the prize to Vananu for his services to humanity, to citizenship rights and the right to information. An additional six "citizens of the world" also received the 2013, including Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, Glenn Greenwald and Chelsea Manning. Vanunu exposed Israel's nuclear weapons programme to the British press in 1986 and was subsequently kidnapped by Israeli intelligence and sentenced to 18 years in prison, 11 of which he spent in solitary confinement. Since his release from prison in 2004, Vanunu is subject to broad restrictions on his speech and movement, and it not permitted to leave Israel as he desires. In announcing its decision, ABI stated that it is honouring Israeli citizen Mordechai Vanunu, a hero of humanity who acted to support world peace.
Video: Puerto Rican, Cuban, Palestinian and Black Liberation Political Prisoners Workshop at NLG Convention.... The National Lawyers Guild International Committee’s Cuba, Puerto Rico and Palestine Subcommittees co-sponsored a workshop at the NLG Convention in Puerto Rico, October 25, 2013, entitled ”Political Prisoners and Liberation Struggles: Palestinian Prisoners, the Cuban Five, Puerto Rico and Assata Shakur & the Black Liberation Movement.” Video of the workshop is now available online! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x16hoqe_nlg-political-prisioners-and-liberation-struggles-part-1-of-3_news

NLG - Political Prisioners and Liberation Struggles (Part 3 of 3)
The workshop addresses the current state of the respective struggles and their political prisoners. The Puerto Rican people have always resisted colonialism, and have waged campaigns for the release of the thousands of their compatriots who have been imprisoned for their commitment to independence, and have always advocated for their human rights. The U.S. has imprisoned the Cuban Five since 1998 for trying to prevent Florida based terrorism against Cuba. An update on legal & political developments, including newly discovered evidence. The movement of Palestinian political prisoners has received growing attention internationally. The struggle of Palestinian prisoners, given the role of US aid and funding to Israel, is directly connected to that of other prisoners held by the US.Recently, the FBI named Assata Shakur as the first woman on its “Most Wanted Terrorists” list, funding a $2 million bounty for her capture and return from Cuba. The workshop will address Assata’s case as an illustration of the criminalization of the Black Liberation Movement and numerous political prisoners that emerged from it.Speakers:Alberto Rodriguez Alberto Rodriguez is a Puerto Rican Independentista who in 1983 was arrested by a FBI led task force and charged with the impossible crime of Seditious Conspiracy for fighting for the independence of Puerto Rico. After a lengthy federal trial during which many important political issues like the illegality of U.S. colonialism over Puerto Rico were raised, he was sentenced to 35 years in prison. After 16 years of incarceration, he along with most but not all the Puerto Rican Political Prisoners received Executive Clemency from then President Bill Clinton and was released.Soffiyah Elijah Soffiyah Elijah, Executive Director of the Correctional Association of New York, is the first woman and the first person of color to lead the nearly 170-year old organization in its mission to create a fairer and more humane criminal justice system. She served previously as Deputy Director and Clinical Instructor at the Criminal Justice Institute at Harvard Law School, and before that was a member of the faculty and Director and Supervising Attorney of the Defender Clinic at the City University of New York School of Law. Ms. Elijah has also worked as a Supervising Attorney at the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, a Staff Attorney at the Juvenile Rights Division of the Legal Aid Society, and in private practice. An accomplished advocate, scholar, and educator, Ms. Elijah is a frequent presenter on national and international media and at forums on criminal justice policy and human rights issues. Some of her work on behalf of political prisoners has included: post trial/appellate representation of Sundiata Acoli (the other African American survivor besides Assata Shakur from the NJ turnpike shooting), and of Marilyn Buck (who was charged and convicted of involvement in Assata’s escape); representation of the San Francisco 8, and of organizations such as the Venceremos Brigade.Bradley ParkerBrad Parker is Staff Attorney and International Advocacy Officer with Defence for Children International Palestine, an independent child-rights organization dedicated to defending and promoting the rights of children living in occupied Palestine. He was previously the Legal Advocacy Officer with MADRE.Rafael Anglada-Lopez Rafael Anglada López is a lawyer and a civil rights activist. HONDURAN ELLECTIONS AFTER US OCCUPATION...MILITARIZATION AT THE BALLOTS!  http://quotha.net/node/2607 After a moment, when I had taken possession of my position as president of Voting Station 2686, in the Minerva School, there was a verbal altercation between the police officers and Mr. Pinto that reached the point where Mr. Pinto and his cronies ended up intimidating and kicking out the members of the community police force.Once we were without police protection, they began to threaten my compañeros and me, telling us we should leave the voting stations and the polling place. They confiscated the national identity card and electoral worker credential of one of my compañions by threatening to kill her, and they tried to intimidate me at gunpoint to sign the tally sheets and ballots before leaving the table, which I did not agree to, and finally they forced me to give them my electoral worker credential and national identity card.We managed to leave the community. In the door of the school there were people asking voters whom they planned to vote for, and if it was not for the National Party candidate they simply were not allowed to enter.
--------------------------
http://soaw.org/about-us/equipo-sur/263-stories-from-honduras/4162-novelections
Another issue is the financial incentives used by the National Party to get people to vote for them. For instance, just outside a large voting center in Danli, the National Party was distributing its “La Cachureca” discount card, shown in the photo at right. This card provides people who register with the National Party discounts for cell phone use, medical care, and other needs. The International Federation for Human Rights reported on how the La Cachureca card is used to shift votes to the National Party. We also have received reports of a government program that is supposed to provide aid to people in poverty being manipulated by the National Party, which is currently in power. One woman denounced that she had received one of these checks before the election that was dated the Tuesday after the election; she was told that there would only be funds to cash it if the National Party won.
We are extremely concerned about statements by the US State Department that observers found the process to be "generally transparent." There are reports by numerous international observers of dead people able to vote, vote buying, and problems with vote counting, not to mention that the TSE has selectively tallied the vote reports while leaving many votes uncounted. The above examples is just part of what our delegation saw; delegations across the country reported fraud, including vote buying, which is described in the Honduras Solidarity Network preliminary report. http://www.hondurassolidarity.org/report1/
The State Department's statement goes on to encourage Hondurans to "resolve election disputes peacefully through established legal processes" but fails to mention the fact that the ruling parties control the highly politicized Honduran justice system. Just a few months ago, the National party's presidential candidate, in his role as president of the Congress, led an extremely irregular process to name a new Attorney General in the middle of the night, stacking the Justice Department in his favor just prior to the elections. Prior to that, he also led Congress in the firing of 4 Supreme Court justices who had gone against his interests, and replaced them with 4 new Supreme Court justices.

How rules are tailored and public interest surrendered to suit corporate interests in the WTO, FTAs and BITs trade and investment regime
The discourse of rules and fairness usually brings up ideas of equality, justice and upholding of rights. Therefore, when the World Trade Organization (WTO) describes itself as a “rules-based” system that treats all member countries fairly based on the principle of “non-discrimination”, it could be concluded that the WTO multilateral trading system is just and equitable. But if the WTO system were indeed equitable, then why has global trade become concentrated in the hands of a few corporations, indicating that only a few big corporate players benefit from the global trading system. Why is it that 80% of US exports are handled by only 1% of the largest exporters and 85% of EU exports are in the hands of only 10% of the big exporters? If the WTO rules based system were really non- discriminatory, equitable and just, then shouldn’t there be an equal distribution of economic benefits to all 159 Members countries? This Report contests some key assumptions about the rules based global trade and investment system. It addresses such questions as: Who are the real beneficiaries of the legally binding and enforceable agreements and rules of the WTO that ensures the smooth, predictable and free movement of trade flows?Who are the key players in global trade that would benefit from the breaking down of all trade barriers? And ultimately, whose trade organization is the WTO really and how is it related to the regime of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and International Investment Agreements (IIAs)?How is this elaboration of rules designed to privilege the unilateral operations of transnational corporations (TNCs) which maintains a sea of sharks and sardines? How does the Dispute Settlement Mechanism (DSM) work? Are all these rules designed as part of the neoliberal architecture of impunity protecting the privileges of these corporations? And in this environment, how is the public interest and national sovereignty surrendered?
Hearing on Human Rights in Colombia - November 27, 2013 Impacts of free trade agreements on human rights... http://www.oidhaco.org/uploaded/content/article/2115665979.pdf
Introduction The Trade Agreement between the EU, Colombia and Peru, signed in June 2012 and subsequently ratified in December of the same year by the European Parliament, provisionally entered into force on August 1, 2013, in a context of high social and political tension reflected in significant social demonstrations during 2013. The Trade Agreement has led to serious questions on the situation of human rights, the lack of specific and efficient labour, social and environmental standards, the continuing violence in Colombian regions, and the potential impacts of the Agreement on sectors of the Colombian economy. Given this reality, the European Parliament called for the development of a road map on human rights, labour rights and environmental rights, which “should be aimed essentially at safeguarding human rights, enhancing and improving trade unionists’ rights and protecting the environment”1. The Parliament noted on several occasions that both the Trade Agreement and its accompanying roadmap could serve as tools for monitoring the human rights situation in Colombia. We therefore call upon the European Parliament to use the Roadmap and to take appropriate measures in light of the current situation. This document details the current situation, and outlines the concerns which still exist about the main focuses set out in the Roadmap (human rights and labour rights), as well as the potential impacts of the Trade Agreement

[[[[[[Summary – Conclusions The general human rights situation in Colombia remains of serious concern:- Murders continue to be committed against human rights defenders, land restitution leaders, small farming and indigenous leaders fighting for their land and opposing dams or miningprojects. Between January and September 2013, at least 52 defenders were killed.- The criminalization of social protest continues to affect freedom of expression and assembly. There are reports of stigmatisation by high officials, and violent repression, resulting in up to15 killings during the last national strike.- Several legislative initiatives could promote impunity and have been strongly questioned by UN mechanisms The number of displaced people is increasing every day, with over 250,000 new cases in 2012. Today in Colombia 5.7 million displaced people are registered. There is a 99.5 % rate of impunity for this crime]]]

Nicaragua Envisages Regional Companies to Build Canal http://www.prensa-latina.cu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&idioma=2&id=2135241&Itemid=1
The Nicaraguan Government envisages the presence of companies from the region, through partnerships, in the construction of the inter-oceanic canal of Nicaragua.
According to Paul Oquist, Minister-Secretary for National Policy of the Nicaraguan Presidency, this work is expected to revolutionize global maritime trade.Oquist urged Dominican companies to join the initiative, saying that once concluded, the canal will have two ports, two free-trade zones, an oil pipeline and a railway from coast to coast.

"The beginning of construction works is scheduled for late 2014 and they are expected to be completed by 2019", said Oquist."[[[Since in Nicaragua there are no large companies to perform mega-projects there will be thousands of subcontracts, which will represent an incentive for foreign companies to forge partnerships with ours", he said."We expect this project to boost economies and provide workers of the region with several jobs" said Oquist.]]]

ANTONIO BANDERAS PRAISES CHAVEZ POLICIES TO COMBAT ECONOMIC CRISIS
http://coto2.wordpress.com/2013/11/29/antonio-banderas-chavez-ideas-will-solve-us-crisis/
Antonio Banderas surprised CNN viewers when he criticized US President Barack Obama and suggested Europe and the US should apply the same economic policies as Venezuela’s late president Hugo Chávez.During his talk with Spanish journalist Ana Pastor, Banderas was asked several questions about the current financial crisis and possible solutions to it.The Malaga-born star pointed the finger of blame at “the markets, the lobbies, the big corporations” and suggested they didn’t have to take responsibility when countries and governments had problems.“We’re not being governed by the people we voted for,” he told Pastor. “How do you put a stop to that?” she asked. “You break it like Chávez did in his day, you get all these big corporations and you nationalize them,” answered Banderas in the midst of a deafening silence. “There was no other way out,” he added. The Hollywood actor also criticized the US’s President Obama for not fullfilling his promises during his two terms in office and succumbing to the pressure of big business and financial markets.

Colonial marketing
Inner City Press reports on the latest debates inside the UN’s decolonization committee:
“Friday afternoon in the Fourth Committee, after a week of speeches denouncing the UK for the Malvinas or Falkland Islands, UK Political Coordinator Michael Tatham spoke. He spoke of his country’s ‘modern relationship’ with its territories — if you want to stay, you can.Moments later Bolivia’s Permanent Representative Sacha Llorenti said that the UK’s invocation of self-determination, for which generations fought, was now being used as ‘colonial marketing.’Llorenti also took on the United States, calling Puerto Rico a colony and long-jailed Oscar Lopez Rivera a political prisoner.…Papua New Guinea chided France for not turning over education in New Caledonia.”

Venezuela expels three US diplomats due to sabotage
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expelled three U.S. diplomats for their alleged involvement in acts of sabotage to destabilize the South American country.Kelly Keiderling, who is the top U.S. diplomat in Venezuela as the charge d'affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, Elizabeth Hunderland and David Mutt "have 48 hours to leave the country," President Maduro said in an activity in western state of Falcon."Get out of Venezuela. Yankee go home. Enough abuses already against a homeland that wants peace. get out of here. We will not allow an imperial Government to come and bring money and see they bring basic companies to a standstill, how they cut power to turn Venezuela off," he said in remarks broadcast on state-run VTV.
The Venezuelan President said he has evidence that involve the U.S. Embassy officials in Caracas in acts to sabotage the country's economy and electrical sector.Assuming the responsibility for expelling the officials, Maduro said new actions will be taken to "defend the Venezuelan people's dignity and peace."The President said he will request justice institutions to act before those who connived with the U.S. Officials, particularly active in southern areas of the country, as in Bolivar state. The officials have met with opposition union and political leaders in Venezuela, Maduro said, specifically from political party Primero Justicia "and others who wear red hats (of the revolution) and stab the homeland in the back. Pay attention to see how they sabotage Sidor, aluminum companies and the electrical system. In this connection, The President urged people and Bolivarian National Armed Force to be on the alert. "Nobody should never agree to break the oath to the homeland, never, comrades of our heroic Armed Force. Arms of the Republic are aimed at defending independence and people's integrity, to defend us from empires that would attack us, to protect people. This Armed Force will never be the Cerberus of the bourgeoisie."
Independence continues Commemorating 200 years since the pro-independence Battle of Barbula, in Falcon state, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said "the struggle of 200 years remains untouched." Two models were faced 200 years ago, Maduro said: an imperial model of a racist and murderer army that despised the population, but which was halted by the strength of the other army with new values of respect to the population, "people became army and Republic was made in arms."
"We were born that way 200 years ago and that is the eternal, republican, anti-imperialist, anti-oligarch mark that rescued commander Hugo Chavez for history and those are the values we have to preserve," Maduro said.

The American journalist Jeremy Bigwood reveals important data
News organizations linked to Miami entities form part of a coup against Latin American countries http://www.albatv.org/Organizaciones-de-prensa.html

Research by the American journalist, Jeremy Bigwood, reveals that the United States Government intervened in several of the coups d'etat perpetrated in Chile, Venezuela, Honduras, Peru and, probably, could intervene in the attempt of the coup in Ecuador on September 30, 2010. Bigwood, who was present, this Wednesday, the conversatorio destabilization and coups of State in Latin America, organized by the National Institute of high studies (IAEN), showed documents from The Church Committee Report to prove that "the CIA supported the most famous newspaper in Chile (mercury), so drop a democratically elected President (Salvador Allende)", explained the reporter during his speech. About Peru, Bigwood found documents, of the Department of Justice of the United States, about Wladimiro Montesinos, Adviser of former President Alberto Fujimori, "which shows that it is a corrupt officer". In the case of Venezuela against President Hugo Chávez in 2002, it was difficult to find information, but be declassified documents significant showing "that the CIA had full knowledge of the maturation of the coup". It also obtained documents of political opposition parties and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that receive funding from the Government of the United States. The journalist also investigated the case of Honduras, against former President Manuel Zelaya, in 2009, when there was also support and influence of various actors based in the United States. In these cases, according to Bigwood, certain categories of interference can be identified such as: news organizations with connections to entities based in Miami, very strong relationships in the United States of several entities of the U.S. Government, which have gotten into the internal affairs of other countries and the Agency of national security (NSA), the Central Intelligence Agency CIA of the United States Agency for international cooperation (Usaid)which are agencies of the Department of the State itself. In addition, several NGO's that have been influenced by means of scholarships. With this background, Bigwood mentioned that most of these organizations have worked in Ecuador, such as the NSA, the Agency which deals with all information as possible from all over the world, since they can do it by means of a satellite. On the attempt of coup d'etat in Ecuador, the journalist stressed "there is still much to investigate and discover the participation that may have had the United States in Ecuador, in 2010". Bigwood ended his speech with a fact that suggests the close relationship that has United States with press agencies and NGOs in Latin America and mentioned the question that Ricardo Restrepo made Jaime Mantilla, current President of the society interamericana de Prensa (SIP), "whether it should be legal that press is funded by the CIA, to make purchases of the State in Latin America"Mantilla did not deny it.

‘Open and brazen cooperation’ between govt and paramilitaries: Colombia Vice-President http://www.elheraldo.co/noticias/nacional/vi-convivencia-abierta-y-descarada-del-estado-con-grupos-armados-angelino-garzon-125383
Colombia’s Vice-President has admitted that the government did not stop paramilitary forces committing massacres during years of “open and brazen” cooperation.Angelino Garzon was speaking on Friday in Bucaramanga, northeast Colombia, during an event to mark the 1987 massacre of 19 people by alleged government and paramilitary forces in the Puerto Boyaca region of Boyaca department, near to Bogota. He said that such massacres would have been avoided if the government had acted. At the time of the massacre Garzon was a union leader in the area. According to news website El Heraldo, Garzon described himself as a “witness” to the “open and brazen” cooperation between the government and the AUC in the area.
“I saw how [the AUC] threatened us in the presence of state officials, I saw with my own eyes the cooperation between the local government, the army and the police with the paramilitaries in Puerto Boyaca.”Garzon was in Bucaramanga, Santander department, fulfilling obligations specified by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR), who ruled in 2004 that the state erect a monument in memory of the 19 tradesmen who were killed. The IACHR also called on the government to give compensation to the families of the victims and open an investigation into the crime, among other things.Ten members of the AUC and two soldiers are currently serving sentences for their part in the massacre, in which the tradesmen were tortured, murdered, then thrown in a stream.
“It has been a titanic battle,” said Maria Pineda, family of one of the victims, to newspaper El Tiempo. “Days after the disappearances they [the paramilitaries] threatened us so that we would keep quiet. We’ve spent 26 years waiting for the truth to come out.News website Vanguardia claims that the state is still refusing to condemn those members of the armed forces implicated in the massacre, despite the IACHR ruling that the state “violated the rights to personal liberty, humane treatment and life” of the victims.

Protesters Demand Transparency for the Trans-Pacific Partnership at Office of the U.S. Trade Representative with Banners, Lockdown http://www.popularresistance.org/protesters-take-over-us-trade-rep-building-expose-secret-negotiations/
One protester from FlushTheTPP.org, who locked himself to Margaret Flowers on top of the building’s scaffolding, has firsthand experience with how transnational corporations control and design free trade agreements like these. Steven Bray decided to quit his job after his former employer, Caterpillar, sent the entire company a link to an automated message in support of the U.S.-Colombian Free Trade Agreement. “When I learned how many of my coworkers responded without actually considering the text and its potential consequences, I couldn’t stand it. This made the voice of one CEO sound like the voice of 10,000.” The Colombia trade agreement has had a serious negative effect on farmers and workers in Colombia and has resulted in massive nationwide protests. Protesters promised to escalate their tactics if President Obama continues to undermine the Constitution, transparency, and democracy. On Tuesday, the protesters will crash a Fast Track train into Congress after driving it across the city from the US Chamber of Commerce

Puerto Rico and the Puerto Ricans – Versus – 115 Years of Yankee Imperialism and Colonialism
By Professor Francis A. Boyle Address at the University of Puerto Rico,  September 20, 2013
In order to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Columbus’s invasion of the Americas, in early 1992 I was asked by the Organizers of the International Tribunal of Indigenous Peoples and Oppressed Nations in the U.S.A. to serve as Special Prosecutor of the United States of America for committing international crimes against Indigenous Peoples, People of Color, and Oppressed Nationalities, including and especially Puerto Rico and the Puerto Ricans. The Tribunal was initiated by the American Indian Movement (AIM) with the support of representatives of the Puerto Rican People, the New Afrikan People, the Mexicano People, and “progressive White North Americans.” Of course, I do not consider myself to be a “White North American.” I was born Irish. During the past 850 years of resisting one of the most brutal and cruel colonial occupations in the history of humankind, we Irish know what the denial of self-determination, genocide, and gross violations of our most fundamental human rights are all about in our beloved Ireland and abroad, which atrocities still continue as of today.  We Irish still fondly remember and greatly appreciate that Pedro Albizu Compos stood up for us at Anglophile Harvard a century ago.In my capacity as Special Prosecutor of the United States Federal Government, I drew up an Indictment under international law that was served upon the Attorney General of the United States and the United States Attorney in San Francisco prior to the convening of the Tribunal in that city just before “Columbus Day” on October 2-4, 1992 with a demand that they appear to defend the United States government from the charges. I take it they saw no point in trying to defend the indefensible because no one showed up to defend the United States government, though they did publicly acknowledge receipt of our service of process. I will not go through all 37 charges of my Indictment here. But the proceedings of this pathbreaking International Tribunal have been recorded in a formal Verdict by the Tribunal; in a Video of the Tribunal; and in a Book on the Tribunal–all under the title U.S.A. On Trial: The International Tribunal on Indigenous Peoples and Oppressed Nations in the United States.
Six months after the conclusion of these San Francisco Tribunal proceedings, I was the  Lawyer and Ambassador for the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina arguing its case for genocide against Yugoslavia before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the World Court of the United Nations System. There I would single handedly win two World Court Orders overwhelmingly in favor of Bosnia against Yugoslavia to cease and desist from committing all acts of genocide against the Bosnians on 8 April 1993 and 13 September 1993. I treated the San Francisco Tribunal proceedings with as much care, attention, dignity, respect, and professionalism as I did the World Court proceedings for Bosnia.  And the results were the same: massive, overwhelming, crushing victories for my clients at both the World Court and the San Francisco Tribunal!
For the purpose of this Lecture, I want to briefly discuss the eight charges that I filed against the United States government for committing international crimes against the People and State of Puerto Rico. I believe that these eight charges succinctly state the fundamental principles of international law concerning Puerto Rico and the Puerto Ricans. Obviously, these eight charges of my Indictment cannot answer all the questions the Puerto Rican People might have with respect to international law. But I do submit that these eight charges provide a solid foundation for providing guidance to the Puerto Rican People as to your basic rights under international law that can be used in the future in order to navigate problems and issues as they arise to confront you.
The distinguished Judges composing this International Tribunal consisted of seven independent Experts on human rights drawn from all over the world. In their Verdict, Preliminary Findings, and Order of 4 October 1992, the Indigenous Peoples’ Tribunal did not accept all of the 37 charges that I filed in my Indictment against the United States government for perpetrating international crimes against Indigenous Peoples, People of Color, and Oppressed Nations. But most strikingly, when it came to the Puerto Rican People, the International Tribunal accepted all of my charges against the United States government, and by a unanimous vote at that.  In its own words, the exact findings of this Tribunal on the People and State of Puerto Rico were as follows:
Puerto Rican People
With respect to the charges brought by the Puerto Rican People, the Defendant, the federal Government of the United States of America is, by unanimous vote, guilty as charged in: Since its illegal invasion of Puerto Rico in 1898, Defendant has perpetrated innumerable Crimes Against Peace, Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes against the People and State of Puerto Rico as recognized by the Nuremberg Charter, Judgment, and Principles. The Defendant has perpetrated the International Crime of Genocide against the Puerto Rican People as recognized by the 1948 Genocide Convention. The Defendant has perpetrated the International Crime of Apartheid against the Puerto Rican People as recognized by the 1973 Apartheid Convention. The Defendant has perpetrated a gross and consistent pattern of violations of the most fundamental human rights of the Puerto Rican People as recognized by the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the two aforementioned United Nations Human Rights Covenants of 1966.
The Defendant has perpetrated a gross and consistent pattern of violations of the 1965 Racism Convention against the Puerto Rican People. The Defendant has denied and violated the international legal right of the Puerto Rican People to self-determination as recognized by the United Nations Charter, the two United Nations Human Rights Covenants of 1966, customary international law, and jus cogens. The Defendant has illegally refused to apply the United Nations Decolonization Resolution of 1960 to Puerto Rico. Pursuant thereto, the Defendant has an absolute international legal obligation to decolonize Puerto Rico immediately and to transfer all powers it currently exercises there to the Puerto Rican People.
The Defendant has illegally refused to accord full-scope protections as Prisoners-of-War to captured Puerto Rican independence fighters in violation of the Third Geneva Convention of 1949 and Additional Protocol I thereto of 1977. The Defendant’s treatment of captured Puerto Rican independence fighters as “common criminals” and “terrorists” constitutes a “grave breach” of the Geneva Accords and thus a serious war crime. As Special Prosecutor for the Tribunal, it came as no surprise to me that the Judges unanimously accepted all of my charges against the United States government with respect to the People and State of Puerto Rico. This is because the principles of international law with respect to Puerto Rico and the Puerto Ricans are incontestible, and thus so glaringly obvious for the entire world to see. I most respectfully submit that the Puerto Rican People must use this analysis and the Tribunal’s Verdict, Preliminary Findings, and Order in order to support, promote, and defend your basic rights under international law, including your right to self-determination and establish the independent state of Puerto Rico if that is your desire.
In the final section of its Verdict, the San Francisco Tribunal also rendered the following unanimous decision that directly concerns the international legal rights of the People and State of Puerto Rico:ADDITIONAL FINDINGS In light of the foregoing findings, this Tribunal also, by unanimous vote, finds the Defendant guilty as charged in paragraph 37, which, as amended, reads:In light of the foregoing international crimes, the Defendant constitutes a Criminal Conspiracy and a Criminal Organization in accordance with the Nuremberg Charter, Judgment, and Principles and the other sources of public international law specified above, and the Federal Government of the United States of America is similar to the Nazi government of World War II Germany. This powerful Finding speaks for itself and requires no explanation by me.The Tribunal concluded its Verdict with the following Order to the United States government: “Now therefore, it is ordered, adjudged and decreed that the Defendant cease and desist from the commission of the crimes it has been found guilty of herein.” Pursuant thereto, I then filed a copy of this San Francisco Verdict with its Cease and Desist Order upon the Attorney General of the United States of America in Washington, D.C.In return, I later received a 5 February 1993 Letter from the U.S. Department of Justice that acknowledged the receipt of the San Francisco Tribunal Verdict and its Cease and Desist Order against the United States government. This U.S. D.O.J Letter then advised me: “If you, or the Tribunal, have any evidence of the violation of federal criminal law, we ask that you provide that information to your local office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”As I saw it at the time, and still see it as of today, historically this would be analogous to the Nazi Ministry of “Justice” advising a German lawyer representing the Jews to file his Complaint of criminal law violations by the Nazi government against the Jews with the Gestapo. The F.B.I is and has always been the American Gestapo — especially for all Peoples of Color living within its imperial domain. Nevertheless, the Verdict, Preliminary Findings, and Order of this San Francisco Tribunal qualify as a “judicial decision” within the meaning of Article 38(1)(d) of the Statute of the International Court of Justice. Pursuant thereto, this Verdict, Preliminary Findings, and Order constitute “subsidiary means for the determination of rules of law” for international law and practice. Furthermore, the Statute of the International Court of Justice is an “integral part” of the United Nations Charter under Article 92 thereof. Hence the San Francisco Tribunal’s Verdict, Preliminary Findings, and Order can be relied upon by the International Court of Justice itself, by the International Criminal Court, by some other International Tribunal, or by any other Court in the world today, as well as by any People or State of the World Community — including and especially by Puerto Rico and the Puerto Ricans. The Verdict of the San Francisco Tribunal still serves as adequate notice to the appropriate officials in the United States Federal Government that they bear personal criminal responsibility under international law and the domestic legal systems of all Peoples and States in the World Community for designing and implementing these illegal, criminal and reprehensible policies and practices against Indigenous Peoples and Peoples of Color living in North America, and especially against Puerto Rico and the Puerto Ricans.
Obviously, in my brief presentation here today, I do not have the time to go through each and every one of these eight charges; to discuss all of the factual evidence that supported these eight charges; or to provide you with an analysis of the international legal bases for each one of these eight charges. For that type of information, I refer you to the Video and the Book on the San Francisco Tribunal as well as to its Verdict, Preliminary Findings, and Order itself. But in the discussions that follow today, I will be happy to respond to any questions you might have.
  Thank you.
Colombia-Piedad Córdoba: "The true unity of the Colombian people is beginning here"
The Peasant Summit that was held Thursday, Sept. 12 in Bogotá meant on the one hand the defeat of the false agrarian pact of the Santos government and on the other an opportunity to unite the Colombian popular movement. Thousands of peasants from all over the country attended the conference at which Piedad Córdoba, spokeswoman for the Patriotic March of the Social and Political Movement, offered revealing commentary on the popular movement in Colombia. The following statements are taken from Córdoba's address in which she referred to the Agrarian Summit as a space for the defense of the land and for the defense of a great popular, social and political movement that today is a key step towards the great convocation of the Popular and Agrarian Summit that planned for October 20.

"This country is rising up against ignominy, against oppression;  it has raised the flag of the Peasant Farmers' Reserve (Zona de Reserva Campesina) because the ZRCs represent the defense of life against the Free Trade Agreements.
In her discourse Córdoba emphasized the role of the Popular and Farming Board of Interlocution and Agreement known as MIA.  As is widely known, [Colombia's] national government tried by various means to ignore this board, first by negotiating with one sector on strike and leaving out the sectors mobilized and represented by the national MIA that represents more than 80 percent of the mobilized sectors of peasants on strike.  Córdoba responded to President Juan Manuel Santos' recognition of the MIA on Sept. 8 in Popayán by stressing the Spanish adjective "mía" meaning "my" and which corresponds to the initials for the board, MIA:
"MIA sounds so beautiful, MIA seems to say my Colombia, MIA says my struggle, the struggle of the people, the struggle of the peasants, MIA says the defense of my life, the defense of life itself, MIA means the defense of men and women that get up when the roosters crow, that get up to the barks of the faithful dog that will never abandon them, to work my land, that search for my peace, that search for my Colombia, for inclusion, for solidarity, long live the peasants' MIA that means peace in Colombia."

Piedad Córdoba highlighted the magnificent support given to the peasants on strike by the inhabitants of cities across all Colombia:  "I think that the true unity of the Colombian people is beginning, the unity of a people that from the fields, from the Afro-Colombian communities, from the unity of the Indigenous, of the peasants, of the mestizos and mestizas, the unity of a people that stretches its hand out to the urban centers and cities in order to say loudly while we beat on pots and pans, that today the people of the cities understand clearly that we must defend the Colombian countryside."She affirmed that the popular movement will not allow itself to be divided and called on the national government to not try to divide, threaten, terrorize or silence the mobilized people.  She remembered Huber Ballesteros, the outstanding popular Colombian leader, arrested in Bogotá during the first days of the strike and sent a message to the Minister of Defense Pinzón: "I say to the minister of war, that you will not be able to put all of us in jail, that you will not be able to kill all of us, that if you manage to jail us, the jail will become a front line, the jail will be a place of struggle and from the jail our cries for justice will be heard;  don't think that the laws of sepoys imposed by congress are going to mean anything to millions of peasants that walk through the streets of this country telling the world and Colombia that the Free Trade Agreements are a death trap for the people of this country, that the FTAs rob us of our historic destiny, that the FTAs that were signed on the backs of the people kill hope and rob the lives of peasants."
She also added, in relation to the Patriotic March of the Social and Political Movement and referring to new laws against the right to protest that the national government was signing into law in congress:  "Don't think that the criminalization of social protest is going to tear the cry of struggle and liberty from our throats, from the Patriotic March, what many of us represent with pride and many others may disavow, in the March we are the patriots, we are the ones who want to construct a different country." Right then she issued a call for the unity of the Colombian popular movement: "We are the patriots, those who embrace the Congress of the Peoples and say to them that together we must construct unity because together we are strong and divided we are alone." She also reaffirmed the call for a National Constitutional Assembly, and ratified opposition to the proposed referendum by the national government, declaring that the formula for peace was in the six points of the document of petitions of the National Strike.
In a clear message to President Juan Manuel Santos, Córdoba announced that the next Agrarian and Popular Summit will be held in October of this year: "We are telling you that we are preparing the greatest Agrarian Summit that has ever been seen in Colombia in the last 50 years because the Agrarian Summit is going to be magnificent."
With respect to the National Agrarian and Popular Strike she declared that the people are not tired nor are they going to bed: "Mr. President, we are not saying it in a threatening tone, nor Mr. President de we say it fearfully, . . . Mr. President we demand it with the dignity of the people, with the dignity of our country, with the dignity of Colombians that are fighting for peace." Córdoba demonstrated the support of the social and popular movement at the round table discussions in Havana: ". . . We are not going to allow him to undermine discussions in Havana . . . we are also telling him not to modify the constitution in order to defeat us with the referendum." Córdoba ended with a call to the peoples of the world: "From here we say to the world that we are giving birth to a new democracy, that we are giving birth to a just democracy, that we are giving birth to a new Colombia that is born of men and women that love their country, that defend her, that defend their land, but above all think of the possibility of a future and a better tomorrow and that is formed from the hand of this great popular movement."
Bolivia to Sue US for Crimes against Humanity http://www.4thmedia.org/2013/09/23/bolivia-to-sue-us-for-crimes-against-humanity/
Bolivian President Evo Morales has decided to file a lawsuit against the US government for crimes against humanity, censuring its violation of international law.“I would like to announce that we are preparing a lawsuit against (US President) Barack Obama to condemn him for crimes against humanity,” said President Morales at a press conference in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz on Thursday.Morales branded the US president as a “criminal” who violates international law.He decried the US for its intimidation tactics and fear-mongering after the Venezuelan presidential jet was blocked from entering US airspace.Venezuela also announced that Washington refused to grant permission for the plane of President Nicolas Maduro to pass through US airspace, calling the move an aggression against the Bolivarian Republic. In solidarity with Venezuela, Bolivia will begin preparing a lawsuit against the US head of state to be taken to the international court.Furthermore, Morales has called an emergency meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States to discuss what has been condemned by Venezuela as “an act of intimidation by North American imperialism.”The Bolivian president has suggested that the members of the community withdraw their ambassadors from the US to send a message to the Obama administration.“The US cannot be allowed to continue with its policy of intimidation and blockading presidential flights,” stressed Morales.
(Zio)Arab (tools)Activists Profiled in(ZioCon)NED
The National Endowment for Democracy celebrated it’s 30 year anniversary by releasing a special report entitled “30 activists under 30″ . Imad Akka and Adnane Addioui were two of the featured Arabs for their work on democracy promotion in Morocco while Essam al-Rubaie was profiled for his work on defeating corruption and violence in Iraq
.Akka heads the Association Jeunes pour Jeunes ( Youth Association for Youth), which works on civic education in the areas of ”democratic change, and supporting youth economic, social, political and cultural rights.” Under Imad’s leadership, AJJ has become an essential voice in the national debate in the aftermath of Morocco’s 2011’s spontaneous(-ly funded by zionist us state dept)

“February 20 Movement”. Speaking about the need for NGO work in a country in which half the youth population lacks education or employment Akka said, “young people need the tools and direction to peacefully call for reform.” Addioui co-founded the Moroccan Center for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship, an organization which attempts to achieve social change through entrepreneurship. CISE has been scouting young social entrepreneurs and providing them with the training and mentoring required to make positive economic and social impacts. Addiouui believes that ““social entrepreneurship has always been an ethos of democratic governance” and that “Morocco has reached a stage where it is a priority to rethink why and how people, organizations and even the government engage with the society at-large.” Al-Rubaie is founder and director of the Al-Najah Center for Training and Development, a civil society organization that promotes volunteerism and creative youth initiatives in Iraq. Essam and his colleagues help student leaders and recent graduates of Basra University in implementing a variety of projects in the region. Al-Rubaie considers the youth to be most equipped to “stop arbitrary governance, rekindle national unity, and build a new Iraq” with their passion and creativity. Al- Rubaie believes that there is a fade light of change in Iraq saying, “if we stopped doing our work, that light would extinguish.”

The U.S. vs. Brazil: From Espionage to Destabilization
Among the actions under consideration by the Brazilian authorities with regard to U.S. intelligence operating on the territory of Brazil is a tightening of control over identified American intelligence personnel with the aim of documenting illegal aspects of their activities and subsequently deporting them from Brazil. The Brazilian authorities are increasingly concerned about signals that the CIA, U.S. military intelligence, and DEA operatives are involved in the creation of "youth protest groups" which have already been used and could be used in the future to intensify the crisis situation in the country. The problem of U.S. electronic espionage was discussed at the first meeting of Mercosur leaders and experts on the problem of maintaining computer and telecommunications security. Representatives of Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina and Uruguay suggested urgent measures for stopping "the Empire's espionage and strengthening the technological independence and sovereignty of the bloc's participant countries." Venezuelan Foreign Minister Elias Jaua supported Brazil in all items on the agenda. A decision to create a workgroup for developing a unified strategy for counteracting "imperialist interference" and "U.S. spy operations which cause damage to governments, enterprises and citizens" was approved. A meeting of the ministers of defense of Brazil and Argentina was held at which the ministers signed an agreement on the creation of a bilateral group with the aim of "attaining an optimal level of development of cyberprotection and minimizing vulnerability to cyberattacks". In an interview with the Argentinian newspaper Pagina 12, Brazilian Minister of Defense Celso Amorim told about the increasing operative capabilities of the Center for Cybernetic Protection. The minister only touched on the topic of the electronic spying on President Rousseff and her entourage in passing, but he particularly emphasized that all the facts at their disposal indicate the necessity of developing Brazil's defensive capabilities. Celso Amorim spoke with frankness unusual for the head of a military agency of the medium-term plans for strengthening Brazil’s armed forces. These included the construction of a nuclear submarine for patrolling in territorial waters and protecting oil fields on the shelf, the development of the aerospace industry, and starting production of the KC-390 heavy cargo aircraft, which in the future could replace the U.S.-made Hercules in the Brazilian air force.According to data from independent sources, the scandal around the total espionage of U.S. intelligence in Brazil could result in the Brazil’s refusal to close a deal for the purchase of 36 F-18 Hornet fighter planes. "We cannot," say Brazilian analysts, "sign such large-scale contracts with a country we do not trust". Brazil intends to follow the example of Russia and China in creating its own Internet system, which to a significant degree will guarantee the security of its users and hinder the illegal connection of NSA "specialists". Among Brazil's plans is the laying of its own communications cables to Europe and Africa. The existing communications channels, which pass through U.S. territory, are totally monitored by the NSA. A delegation of Brazilian parliament members is preparing a trip to Russia to meet with Edward Snowden and obtain additional information on the true scale of U.S. electronic espionage in Brazil, including the use of spy satellites. A modernized audio interception base, which was not closed down in 2002, as the media assured everyone, is functioning at full capacity at the U.S. embassy. It is now obvious to the Brazilian leadership that the argument used by the U.S. administration about the war on terrorism is only a cover for conducting operations of another kind altogether. In the Western hemisphere, this is the infiltration of databases and computer networks of Latin American countries, first of all those which are trying to conduct independent policy and focusing on integration through Unasur, ALBA, Petrocaribe, etc.It is believed that the acquisition of advance information about the trips, routes, and places of residence of Latin American leaders "unfriendly" to Washington - Nestor Kirchner, Inacio Lula da Silva, Hugo Chavez and others - helped in conducting special operations against them, some of which, as is well known, were fatal. This year the celebration of Independence Day on September 7 in the Brazilian capital, as well as in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo and Porto Alegre, were accompanied by well-organized mass disturbances. The instigators pronounced anti-government slogans and shouted accusations against Dilma Rousseff, calling her a "traitor to national interests". Several dozen people were injured, and over 300 protesters were detained. The police are investigating the hidden relations between the detainees and "non-profit organizations" funded from the U.S. Some Brazilian bloggers have interpreted these disturbances as U.S. intelligence's "warning shot" at Dilma Rousseff. U.S. intelligence personnel in Brazil may have to operate in much more complex conditions in the foreseeable future. The Brazilian intelligence agency (Abin) is now trying to rehabilitate itself in the eyes of the president and the public. The leaders of Abin, who were unable to detect a leak of strategically important information to the U.S. in time, causing huge political and material losses for the country, have received new instructions on the parameters for further collaboration with partners from the U.S. As they say, one good turn deserves another.
