World Economic Forum's Mining & Metals Scenarios to 2030 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jCA0_3Pyvo

This video presents the scenario development process and scenario stories for the World Economic Forum's 'Mining and Metals to 2030' project.

comment-this is an extremely interesting video YOU CAN WTACH OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT...,the 3 scenarios wich are (1)indicating that eu and us will shortly introduce a so called green growth strategy and by 2016 it will partner with us,resource rich and industrial nations and this model will be nation defining!!!its motto will be ''enviromental sustainability without compromising competitiveness''

it will use enviromental standards to justify imposing protectionist policies, it also claims it will reverse current paterns of globalization and then WTO will join as well and it will form another organization called STO(sustainable trade organization) where it will broker green trade aliances and  agreements between Green Nations.then it states countries outside the alliances( NONGTA'S )will apply their own standards. The claim then is by 2030 GTA countries will be sustainable based, whereas NONGTA'S will not.

Now this is where it gets good and revealing....go to 3 minutes 45  seconds SCENARIO (2 ) REBASED GLOBALISM-in rebased globalism supposedly the world is committied to realizing the benefits of inter-connectedness but globalism gets far more complex and multi-polar.The liberalized(neoliberal) economies like China's(noliberal)India's(neoliberal)Russia's(nationalist)Brazil's(neoliberal)forge ahead and will end up majority of the  top 10 world global mining companies.By 2030 this will reflect  two other major power global shifts.First ecocomic power is no longer by strong demand markets(with scarcity and acess the biggest consumers will lose priority)but also by countries will control over strategic important resources.

They will emerge from spheres of influence and will play by their own rules,With more voices at the table, global colaboration becomes more cumbersome and agreemnts are only possible thru smaller groups.Second local Governmen's,and communities become more agile, and sophisticated in harnessing technologies, communicate and mobilize both locally and globally.Public pressureleads some resource rich countries to capture more social value thru processing and manufacturing or introducing national development taxes.Global investors and companies will be held accountable for the local impact of  operation both morally and thru tough local laws.

MOST IMPORTANT MUST WATCH-SCENARIO (3)RESOURCE SCARCITY-in resource security ,a growing sense emerges, that future economic growth will depend on securing acess to resources.Globalization breaks down amidst a resurgence in Nationalism.State intervention in markets and protectionist barriers .In the quest for resource security, countries prioritize domestic use of resources.Cartels emerge around strategically important resources.

Neocolonialism sees economic political or military power used to secure resources and import substitution strategies wich will make  use of whatever resources are most readily available regardless of their enviromental impacts. As global growth slows, instability grows. The threat of coup's ,sovereign defaults and nationalizations, mean prices remain volatile and lil capital is available for international investments,by 2030 the era of globalization is a distant memory.END OF VIDEO...

who are the people behind this project offering scenarios and strategies?World Economic Forum http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=World_Economic_Forum

"The World Economic Forum's origins stem from Klaus Schwab's initiative to bring together Europe's chief executives for an informal gathering in the Swiss mountain town of Davos in 1970. These chief executives formally met in January 1971 to discuss a coherent strategy for European business to face challenges in the international marketplace. He secured the patronage of the Commission of the European Communities, as well as the encouragement of Europe's industry associations.Over the course of three decades, the World Economic Forum has grown from those humble beginnings to a unique, member-based institution comprised of the 1,000 foremost corporations worldwide.

who was this Klaus Schwab who originated the concept of this think tank still debating strategies expoused  30 years ago by Klaus Schwab? http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Klaus_Schwab

Klaus Schwab, President, World Economic Forum. Founding Member, Earth Council Alliance [1] International Board of Governors, Peres Center for Peace [2]http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Peres_Center_for_Peace

The Peres Center for Peace "is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization founded in 1996 by President of Israel and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mr. Shimon Peres

so lets recap here...this video is a continuation of an  initiative that began 30 years ago between European Business Executives and Klaus Schwab President of  The World Economic Forum who's also on Board of Governors of the Peres Center(father of  israels nuclear program)and this video 30 years later is working out scenarios and opening discussion for its 1000 Foremost Corporation members in the wake of this resource,or  access to resource scarcity their countries will be facing? This is what it ammounts to,ever since the first summit, the Business Chief Executives and Europe's Industries Associations along with Their frontmen the European Governments, for the most part, have relied and indeed become richer by failing to adopt true alternative energy policies by relying on fossil fuels they imported.

This is obvious,by the most recent revelations,see... EU Trade Commission bta's with region and Andean countries http://ec.europa.eu/trade/creating-opportunities/bilateral-relations/regions/andean/   EU imports from Andean countries are fuels (41.1%) <<<41%>also see most recent discussions at EU level between EUtrade commision,Business class,Trade Associations ,Ngo's...Raw materials: Heading for a global resource crunch? http://www.euractiv.com/en/sustainability/raw-materials-heading-global-resource-crunch

Eurometaux, a trade association representing the non-ferrous metals industry, said access to raw materials is "vital for the survival" of the sector. European industry, it says, is currently dependent on imports for "the essential part" of its raw materials, a market which amounted to "more than 20 billion euro in 2008". For this reason, Eurometaux calls for "an integrated strategy to tackle the issue of access to raw materials, liberalising the markets and the mutual lifting of commercial barriers".

Friends of the Earth Europe (FoEE), an environmental NGO, has expressed "severe concerns" about the European Commission's raw materials initiative, saying it "will have a detrimental effect on the environment and developing countries".FoEE pointed to "fundamental contradictions" in the EU’s proposed strategy which, on the one hand, reiterates the need for increased resource efficiency and recycling of raw materials and on the other, spells out "aggressive plans to grab other countries' resources". Environmentalists said they are "particularly concerned that the proposals challenge other countries' rights to restrict trade on environmental grounds and their ability to process raw materials themselves".

also see...WTO's first official visit by Karel De Gucht as EU Trade Commissioner http://ec.europa.eu/commission_2010-2014/degucht/headlines/press-releases/2010/02-12_en.htm EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht has met with the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation Pascal Lamy in his first official meeting after taking office earlier this week.see...EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht openly states with conviction''protectionism is evil.''watch video http://ec.europa.eu/avservices/player/streaming.cfm?type=ebsplus&sid=155117

one of videos scenarios (1)claimed that the GTA nations will form and >>its motto will be ''enviromental sustainability without compromising competitiveness'' it will use enviromental standards to justify imposing protectionist policies. it also claims it will reverse current paterns of globalization and then WTO will join as well and it will form another organization called STO(sustainable trade organization)<<Karel De Gucht as you see above clearly adopt a free market liberalization policy clearly serving neoliberal agenda(not to mention global governance-see-Global Governance is a challenge for democracy (but an EU opportunity)by Pascal Lamy http://www.europesworld.org/NewEnglish/Home_old/Article/tabid/191/ArticleType/articleview/ArticleID/21575/Default.aspx

so as far as creating these GTA STO organizations it remains to be seen if its in the works...however considering some of these recent discussions at EU level, the most likely scenario  to be adopted would be SCENARIO(3)''Cartels emerge around strategically important resources. Neocolonialism sees economic political or military power used to secure resources and import substitution strategies wich will make  use of whatever resources are most readily available regardless of their enviromental impacts''

Iran showing fastest scientific growth of any country http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn18546-iran-showing-fastest-scientific-growth-of-any-country.html

Scientific output has grown 11 times faster in Iran than the world average, faster than any other country. A survey of the number of scientific publications listed in the Web of Science database shows that growth in the Middle East – mostly in Turkey and Iran – is nearly four times faster than the world average.

Science-Metrix, a data-analysis company in Montreal, Canada, has published a detailed report (PDF) on "geopolitical shifts in knowledge creation" since 1980. "Asia is catching up even more rapidly than previously thought, Europe is holding its position more than most would expect, and the Middle East is a region to watch," says the report's author, Eric Archambault.World scientific output grew steadily, from 450,000 papers a year in 1980 to 1,500,000 in 2009. Asia as a whole surpassed North America last year.

Iran now has a leading manufacturing industry in the Middle East including, car manufacturing and transportation, construction materials, home appliances, food and agricultural goods, armaments, pharmaceuticals, information technology, power and petrochemicals. Iran holds 10 percent of the worlds proven oil reserves and 15 percent of its gas. It is OPEC’s (the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) second largest exporter and the world’s fourth largest oil producer. Iran ranks seventh among countries in the world with the most archeological architectural ruins and attractions from antiquity as recognized by UNESCO.

Iran is an example of a country that has made considerable advances through education and training, despite international sanctions in almost all aspects of research during the past few decades. Despite the limitations in funds, facilities, and international collaboration, Iranian scientists remain highly productive in several experimental fields such as pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, organic chemistry, and polymer chemistry.

Olympic protests are valid, says Council of Canadians http://www.bclocalnews.com/opinion/letters/84713027.html

The Council of Canadians, a body of influential citizens, is backing organizations and individuals protesting the Vancouver Winter Olympics’ negative impact. Protesters’ message of stolen land is based on the fact the province of B.C. does not have title to the land. Meanwhile, indigenous communities are trying to stop pipelines, mining, dump site expansions and ski resort projects that are impacting the environment and their way of life.

Israeli agent claims MI6 and Foreign office were tipped off about Mossad hit http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1252034/Hamas-assassination-Did-Britain-know-Mossad-hit.html#ixzz0g0APq4ID

Agent claims MI5 and Foreign Office were tipped off.MI6 was tipped off that Israeli agents were going to carry out an 'overseas operation' using fake British passports, it was claimed last night.A member of Mossad, the Israeli intelligence service, said the Foreign Office was also told hours before a Hamas terrorist chief was assassinated in Dubai.

The tip-off did not say who the target would be or even where the hit squad would be in action. But the claim from a credible source that the Government had some prior knowledge of the abuse of UK passports will strengthen calls for ministers to come clean about what they knew and when.It came as more details emerged of how Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was lured into a trap by Palestinian double agents last month before being smothered with a pillow.

The killers tried to make his death look like an accident. A British security source who met the Mossad agent, and has a track record of providing reliable information, told the Daily Mail: 'This is a serving member of Israeli intelligence. 'He says the British Government was told very, very briefly before the operation what was going to happen. There was no British involvement and they didn't know the name of the target. But they were told these people were travelling on UK passports.'The security source said that the tip-off was not a request for permission to use British passports but more a 'courtesy call' to let the security services know 'a situation' might blow up.
