Uranium-rich Niger hit by coup d’etat http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/africa/02/18/niger.coup/

Uranium-rich Niger has been hit by a military coup. The so-called Superior Council for the Restoration of Democracy has suspended all institutions and called on the nation for calm and on the international community for support. President Mamadou Tandja and his ministers are being held in a military camp. Dana Palade, a spokeswoman for the alleged CIA front World Vision, said: “The people are calm, not what you'd expect in a capital city where you have a coup d'état."

President Tandja, who had been in office since 1999, had recently been trying to force through a bid for a third term. Assistant U.S. Secretary of State P.J. Crowley said the US does not condone violence, but "clearly we think this underscores that Niger needs to move ahead with elections and the formation of a new government." Niger, one of the poorest countries in Africa, has about 8 percent of the world's uranium.

comment-generally we would never ever post any articles from CNN,however this caugth my eye...''Dana Palade, a spokeswoman for the alleged CIA front World Vision, said: “The people are calm, not what you'd expect in a capital city where you have a coup d'état.'' and this ''Assistant U.S. Secretary of State P.J. Crowley said the US does not condone violence, but "clearly we think this underscores that Niger needs to move ahead with elections and the formation of a new government''

i thougth it was interesting because this MR Crowley is the very same state dept envoy that obama sent to honduras after the fraudulent elections, who claimed the following see below...

comment-heres how obamas admnistration is currently handling the situation in honduras,see...The State Departments Craig Kelly is in Honduras pursuing the San Jose Accords. http://hondurasoye.wordpress.com/2010/01/05/do-you-know-the-way-to-san-jose-only-the-state-department-knows-or-cares/ MR. CROWLEY: And, oh, by the way, we do have some decisions to make in the future about the future nature of our relationship. As we said back in November, the election was a step forward. We felt that the results did reflect the will of the Honduran people.

stay tuned for a follow up,where we will be investigating wether USAID(cia) or other groups such as NED(CIA),or DAI(cia)have been operating in NIGER and supporting this group>Superior Council for the Restoration of Democracy

HAITI: Private Contractors 'Like Vultures  Coming to Grab the Loot' http://www.ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=50396

GIS's CEO, Kevin Lumb, told IPS that the key feature of the Haiti summit will be "what we call roundtables, [where] we put the ministers and their procurement people, and arrange appointments with contractors." Lumb added that his company "specialise[s] in putting governments together [with private contractors]." IPOA was "so pleased" with the Afghanistan summit, says Lumb, they asked GIS to do "all the organising, all the selling" for the Haiti summit. Lumb pointed out that all of the profits from the event will be donated to the Clinton-Bush Haiti relief fund.

University of California at Los Angeles professor Nandini Gunewardena, co-editor of "Capitalizing on Catastrophe: Neoliberal Strategies in Disaster Reconstruction," told IPS that "privatisation is not the way to go for disaster assistance." "Traditionally, corporations have positioned themselves in a way that they benefit at the expense of the people. We cannot afford for that to happen in Haiti," she said, adding that "any kind of intermediate or long-term assistance strategy has to be framed within that framework of human security."

Vancouver 2010: The IOC, Israel, Canada, and Apartheid http://dissidentvoice.org/2010/02/vancouver-2010-the-ioc-israel-canada-and-apartheid/

The Winter Olympics is taking place in the unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh, Xwméthkwyiem and Tsleil-Waututh peoples – what has been colonially designated Vancouver – and the unceded territory of the St’at’imc people – Whistler.Israel has sent an ice dancing pair to the Vancouver Winter Olympics.Of Vancouver, the Israeli Consul-General, Amir Gissin, gushed, “We find a Zionist, warm, loving community for whom Israel is a second home.

Zionist communities in Canada? Why not? Canada is an apartheid country just as Israel is. The First Nations have been pushed onto small reserves. Canada is based on the dispossession of the Indigenous population as is Israel. The European-cum Canadians colonialists displaced the spirituality and culture of the Indigenous peoples as did the European Jews-cum Israelis to the indigenous Palestinians. The Original Peoples in Canada are impoverished as are the Palestinians under Israeli oppression. The racist residue of apartheid politics and practices are clear in both Canada and Israel.

Canadian Foreign minister Peter MacKay delivered a pro-Israel speech several days ago at a Bonds Gala event in Montreal. MacKay made it clear that a threat on Israel meant a threat on Canada in his speech at an event honoring Canadian businessman Ralph Benatar, one of Canada’s veteran leaders of the North American Jewish community.

Indigenous community demand human rights abuse investigation http://colombiareports.com/colombia-news/news/8313-indigenous-community-seeks-retribution-for-human-rights-abuses.html

Leaders of the indigenous Wayuu community in the northern Colombian municipality of Riohacha are calling for human rights abuses committed against the community in January to be investigated, reports El Informador on Friday. The leader of the Wayuu community, Luis Uriana, spoke to the Riohacha district court authorities with the aim of seeking retribution for abuses suffered by the families at the hands of police units.

According to Uriana, armed police entered the community's Jarijin Amana settlement, located on the northern coast of the country, on January 18 of this year, using their weapons against the civilians and burning down houses in order to evict the community from the location. In his statement the Wayuu leader also claimed abandonment by the region's Mayor's office, saying that members of the office arrived to inspect the site, but that they had received no subsequent assistance from the authorities.

He told the court that the displaced families have continued to live in the settlement without shelter and access to resources for survival.Luis Uriana is appealing to the Department of Indigenous Affairs and the Mayor's Office, requesting investigation into his claims of human rights violations and abandonment by local authorities.

Venezuela Amb says US shadow gov brougth towers down on 9-11 http://www.pr-inside.com/obama-will-not-stop-it-r1731434.htm

A World government in the shadows like a nightmare as the geo-strategic realization of fascist currents that dominate the world. That government occupied Haiti, overthrew Zelaya, pulled down the Twin Towers, invaded Afghanistan, Iraq and placed military bases in Colombia.

International capital depends on an increase of exploitation of the workers and nature; the predominance of financial speculation over investment in the real economy. It is not a program of Welfare State style reforms what legitimizes capitalism today.Fear and insecurity are the foundation of social cohesion.Obama will not stop this process.the financial clique governs,NOT the White House.
