Supreme Court: DAS wiretaps a State conspiracy http://colombiareports.com/colombia-news/news/9921-supreme-court-das-wiretaps-a-state-conspiracy.html
Colombia's Supreme Court says that revelations of DAS infiltration and spying on the judicial body amount to a "State conspiracy."The president of Colombia's Supreme Court, Jaime Arrubla, said Wednesday that the Prosecutor General's revelations of DAS infiltration, spying and wire tapping of the judicial body amount to a "State conspiracy" to invade the privacy of the court.Arrubla made the comment after the Prosecutor General showed evidence that five of the court's private sessions had been secretly filmed.
Arrubla said that measures had already been taken to ensure that such infiltration was not repeated. The Prosecutor General's Office said Wednesday that Colombian President Alvaro Uribe will be required to sign an affidavit outlining what he knew about the wiretapping carried out by members of security agency DAS.Last Friday Uribe said that a “mastermind” has been “plotting against the government in the issue of illegal wiretaps,”
following reports by Semana magazine which implicated the government in the wiretapping scandal enveloping security agency DAS.The president acknowledged the infiltration of security agency DAS by criminals and reminded the public that he himself had been a victim of breaches of the security agency. The DAS conducted illegal surveillance on prominent Colombian politicans, magistrates, journalists and trade unionists.
