Germany's powerful Zionist lobby showed again its political muscles by forcing the cancellation of an exibit on the Palestinian Nakba (Catastrophe) in the city of Duesseldorf, the website Palaestina Portal said Tuesday. According to the report, a representative of the Jewish community of Duesseldorf toured the exhibit and then gave thumbs down to the event, saying the exhibition created the impression as if only Israelis were responsible for displacement and miserable situation of Palestinians. Pro-Zionist regime pressure groups had also reportedly demonstrated against the Nakba exhibit over the past days.
Last November, officials in the southwestern German city of Freiburg gave in to Zionist intimidation tactics by calling off a planned Nakba photo exhibit. Freiburg's Mayor Dieter Salomon justified the controversial decision, claiming the Nakba exhibit which was supposed to highlight the plight of Palestinian refugees since 1948, was 'too one-sided.'
Two years ago, Munich city officials barred a prominent critic of the Zionist regime from delivering a speech following a massive intervention by the Zionist lobby. Renowned 'Israeli' historian Ilan Pappe who is a fierce critic of the Zionist regime, was prevented from using municipal rooms to lecture on the Zionist state's suppression of Palestinians. City officials cited security concerns for not allowing Pappe to hold his speech. Organizers of the event pointed to plans for protests and disruptions by the Zionist lobby. They wanted to torpedo us. The immunity which Israel enjoys within the establishment is unbearable,' said Eckhard Lenner who was one of the organizers of Pappe's speech. He linked the cancellation of the event to a 'lobby group with very influential contacts.' The head of the Munich-based section of the German-Israeli Society Stefan Stautner had reportedly called on Munich's Mayor Christian Ude to not provide municipal rooms for Pappe's lecture.
