Communication Systems Shut Down in Pakistan for 'Kill Bin Laden' Operation  http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9002121017

 All communication systems in Pakistan were switched off during the US military operation for killing the Al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden, FNA correspondent in Pakistan said.According to FNA dispatches from Islamabad, all cellular and desk phone lines were down in large parts of Pakistan from dark to dawn to enable the US forces to stage an operation against the Al- Qaeda ringleader in Abbottabad, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The internet and email services in Pakistan were back on line after hours of disconnection. 

Abbottabad is a garrison city in Northwestern Pakistan. US President Barack Obama announced late last night that Al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden was killed Sunday in a raid by US covert forces in Pakistan. "Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al-Qaeda," Obama said in a late night address. 

Obama said he had directed helicopter-borne US armed forces to launch an attack against a heavily fortified compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan on Sunday acting on a lead that first emerged last August. "A small team of Americans… killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body," Obama said. Senior US officials said that in addition to bin Laden, three adult males died in the raid, two who were believed to be couriers for the Al-Qaeda leader, and one who was said to be one of his adult sons. One woman who was being used as a human shield was also killed, the officials said. American forces lost a helicopter in the operation, the official said.
