ECUADOR PROVIDES US$700 MLN IN SOCIAL WELFARE SUPPORT FOR THE POOR  http://www.namnewsnetwork.org/v2/read.php?id=175189  Ecuador is providing support to 1,800 poor and vulnerable families especially senior citizens and the disabled as part of a nationwide programme of which US$700 million have been allocated.The support is under the Social Protection Programme to protect the elderly and disabled, Ecuadorian Economic and Social Inclusion Minister Ximena Ponce said.Ponce told El Cuidadano Radio that access to housing, education, public health, life insurance services and funerals are also included.She said the government was working on strategies to fight poverty, for which it is constantly monitoring the vulnerable sectors of the population to ensure social protection for all senior citizens in Ecuador by 2013.Ponce stressed how important it is support funeral services for poor families as when someone dies "a poor family gets even poorer" The Social Protection Programme covers the funeral services for up to US$700.Beneficiaries from the Social Protection Programme are also provided life insurance, which pays next of kin US$500 dollars on death

.IRAN ALLOCATES CREDIT LINE TO CUBA http://www.tehrantimes.com/index.php/economy-and-business/4196-iran-allocates-credit-line-for-cuba   Iran has allocated a credit line for reconstruction of Cuba’s energy system, the Cuban vice president of the National Institute of Water Resources said.Abel Salas made the announcement in a meeting with the Iran’s deputy energy minister in Tehran on Wednesday, ISNA news agency reported.Salas expressed hope that a portion of the 500-million euro credit line would be used to reconstruct the Cuban energy system.
