SUDANESE ARMY ON OUTSKIRTS OF KURMUK TOWN, REBEL STRONGHOLD IN BLUE NILE STATE http://www.namnewsnetwork.org/v2/read.php?id=175161 The Sudanese army is on the outskirts of Kurmuk town, the stronghold of the rebel Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), which is clashing with government forces in Blue Nile state in southern Sudan, says President Omar al-Bashir."The armed forces and the people's defence forces are at the outskirts of Kurmuk and they are determined to perform the Eid prayer at the town after liberating it from the remnants of mercenaries," said President al-Bashir when addressing a rally in Omdurman, the twin city of Khartoum, on Wednesday.The SPLA fighters are launching their military operations against the Sudanese army from Kurmuk town.
