Senior Iranian Cleric Slams Turkey-Israel Cooperation A senior Iranian Shia Cleric said the crisis in Syria is a demand of Israel to dominate the region and denounced Turkey for its cooperation with the Zionist regime to achieve this end. Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, top cleric and professor at Qom Seminary rebuked the policies of Turkey regarding Syria crisis and said toppling the Syrian government is supporting the Zionist regime of Israel. He referred to the clashes in Syria and support of some regional governments to topple this country saying, “Everybody knows that the crisis in Syria erupted at the will of the Zionist regime so that it dominates the region,” adding that topple of Syrian government means submitting the region to the Zionist regime of Israel. Iranian cleric also referred to all out efforts of Turkey to undermine the government in Syria and said, “The biggest predicament is for the Turkish government who began to stand against the Zionist regime pretending to back the Palestinians but in a face about change, turned out to be an ally for the Zionist regime of Israel.” This Iranian jurisprudent also criticized Turkish regime for sending mercenaries and weaponry for this end.According to the cleric being a claimant of Islam and a real Muslim are two different issues.Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said, “Letting out Islamic claims does not make one a real Muslim because there are many who claim to be Muslims though they do not practice what they preach.”Professor at Qom Seminary denounced those who claim to serve the holy shrines of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) though in reality they are at the service of the US, Zionist regime and their interests.
