Popularizing new neo-colonial governance processes for African minerals?

Cuba’s Other Revolution http://alainet.org/active/64594&lang=es
“Thanks to all its revolutionary history, which dates back to the XIX century, the Cuban peasantry has accumulated very many experiences”, says Brazil’s João Pedro Stédile, one of the leaders of his country’s Landless Workers’ Movement (MST). “Apart from having gone through the green revolution, it has maintained its people’s revolution alive and has for fifty years been resisting against all aggressions of imperialism. For this, it is today the campesino sector that’s most ideologically and scientifically prepared to help us all campesinos and campesinas of the world to deal with the challenges imposed by capital”. (7)But observers should not romanticize or idealize Cuba’s reality. Agroecology in Cuba faces serious challenges and contradictions (8). The government does not intend to do away with conventional industrial farming, and it is pushing ahead with the development of genetically modified crops (9), something that Funes and other Cuban agroecologists have vocally opposed (10). Some in the top levels of the Communist Party view agroecology as no more than a temporary band aid, to be discarded once the Special Period ends. But Funes, Vásquez and many other Cuban farmers are convinced that agroecology is the way to go today and will also be the way to go tomorrow. In the words of Funes, “Let’s do organic farming now, not out of necessity but rather with the conviction that it really is the path to take”.

ZIONIST BESA CENTRE.... SAUDIS MAY OFFER CORRIDOR FOR ISRAHELLI STRIKES ON IRAN...
At this stage, such posturing is not wise. Whatever the formal positions Sunni states display on Israel, they are Israel’s allies in the attempt to prevent Iran from going nuclear. Siding with Assad undermines cooperation in this endeavor. A Saudi corridor for attacking Iranian nuclear installations is not a far-fetched scenario if Israel plays it smart in the Middle East...The most significant result of the Arab upheavals in recent years is the weakening of the Arab state, which has increased the power differential between Israel and its neighbors. Ascribing moderation to the Assad family because it has kept the Golan Heights border quiet is somewhat misleading.[ED NOTES:OF COURSE IT IS,ONLY REASON WHY SYRIA COULDNT RETAKE IT IS BECAUSE OF UN PEACEKEEPERS THERE STATIONED UNDER MANDATE,THATS WHY...
During all those years, Syria did not hesitate to bleed Israel via its proxies in Lebanon, Hizballah and radical Palestinian groups. Moreover, the “moderate” Assad tried to develop a nuclear option with the aid of North Korea and Iran. If Assad stays in power he may try again. Moreover, open Israeli support for Assad puts Israel at loggerheads with much of the Sunni Arab world.

Warplanes may have been bought to attack Venezuela  http://www.avn.info.ve/mobile/node/176655
Caracas, 09 Jun. AVN.- Eighteen aircrafts may have been bought by Venezuela's rightist sectors in the United States to attack Venezuela in an operation directed from Colombia, denounced journalist Jose Vicente Rangel on Sunday. In his weekly TV program, Rangel said that opposition group met with warplane industry executives by the end of May at San Antonio, Texas, to agree the purchase of these aircrafts, which would be used against Venezuela. The Venezuelan journalist detailed that "they saw some catalogs and opted for a specific model, signed a contract of sale at the latest for early November this year for 18 aircrafts which would be placed at a United States military base in Colombia.""Is there any armed aggression with the participation of hired murderers, duly disguised, being arranged?," wondered Rangel, adding that "this information should not be underestimated, given the climate existing nowadays about media and political aggressions against Venezuela."
In this connection, he said that the target of these aircrafts would be the following coordinates: P 11 , 25 minutes, 31 seconds (P11º 25' 31'') and M 72 degrees, 7 minutes, 46 seconds (M72º 7' 46'')."Security bodies should check this information, which I do not hesitate to describe as seriously important," warned Jose Vicente Rangel.
Also, Rangel called on US and Colombian authorities to investigate about this situation.

Section 1205 states that the Secretaries of Defense and State “may provide assistance to the military and civilian response organizations of Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Turkey, and other countries in the region of Syria in order for such countries to respond effectively to incidents involving weapons of mass destruction in Syria and the region.” Assistance is defined a...s supplies, training and equipment. Section 1251, which also pertains to Syria, urges the President to “fully consider all courses of action to remove President Bashar al-Assad from power,” and requires President Obama to consider “the provision of lethal aid and relevant operational training to vetted Syrian opposition forces.” The Department of Defense should also analyze the risks of the provision of such aid and training....With regards to Iran, section 1232 recognizes that “maintaining only one aircraft carrier battle group in the Arabian Gulf constrains United States’ options and could put at risk the ability to have diversified platforms from which to defend the Arabian Gulf and, if necessary, to conduct military operations to prevent Iran from threatening the United States,” or its allies with nuclear weapons. [[[[[[[Therefore Congress finds that the U.S. should construct and sustain a fleet of 11 aircraft carriers, battle force ships, and “at least a two aircraft carrier battle group presence in the Arabian Gulf.” The provision also states that the U.S. should finalize agreements with key countries in the Gulf to support the Defense of the Arabian Gulf. Section 1231 also requires a report on the efforts to improve the interoperability of United States-Gulf Cooperation Council countries missile defense systems.”]]]]]]
João Pedro Stédile of Brazil's Landless Movement: The Integration of Capital vs. the Integration of Peoples in the Americas  http://upsidedownworld.org/main/brazil-archives-63/4331-joao-pedro-stedile-of-brazils-landless-movement-the-integration-of-capital-vs-the-integration-of-peoples-in-the-americas
João Pedro Stédile is an economist, co-founder and co-coordinator of the Landless Workers Movement (MST) of Brazil, and leader among Latin American social movements. He gave the following talk to hundreds of Haitian farmers at the 40th anniversary assembly of the Peasant Movement of Papay (MPP) on March 18, 2013.I’d like to bring to you the perspective of the Landless Workers Movement on this complex historic moment, and on the social movements we’re building in Latin America.Just when it seemed like the capitalist system was eternal, a crisis in the system exploded in 2008. The first consequence has been the ideological defeat of neoliberalism, because neoliberalism says that the market will resolve everything, and that idea has been shot down. The second consequence has been the decline of the political power of the US. They still have the strength but no one believes in them anymore. On the contrary, the whole world is mad at the gringo capital. At this moment, there is a strong project of recolonization of the continent according to the US’s interests. We defeated them with the Free Trade Area of Americas (FTAA), but now they come with their military forces, bilateral trade treaties with Mexico and with Colombia and with Chile, a treaty for the Pacific, and the control of Central America and the Carribean. And all of the politics of Obama are in that direction: reconquer the continent for the interests of his businesses. Don’t be fooled by the color of his skin; he is a representative of gringo capitalism. What you are doing here in this school [the agro-ecology training center of the Peasant Movement of Haiti] is revolutionary. It’s anti-imperialist. It’s anti-capitalist. The imperialists want to control our seeds to control our plates and our lives. Building a school of agro-ecology in the countryside, and taking control of your seeds, is the same as building a fort of guerrillas. Guerrillas of Black descent. We need to take one more step in integrating peoples, which is to organize mass struggles. When people stay seated, they’re no good for anything. We have to put our energy in each country to build struggles against our principal enemies: the banks, the transnational companies, and the media controlled by the bourgeoisie. And I hope we will join together the fights from our countries and create a common struggle. I hope we achieve very soon one united battle to definitively defeat Monsanto, Nestlé in milk, Cargill in corn, and mining companies. To conclude: I’d like you to understand that the situation in Latin America in this moment is in a permanent face-off between [capitalist integration and integration of the peoples]. This face-off occurs from the setting of prices in the seed market to every governmental election. The enemies are the same, so to defeat them, we have to unite and undertake continent-wide actions.

COLOMBIA WATCH-Another case of Army killing civilian and presenting him as a guerrilla http://www.justiceforcolombia.org/news/article/1427/another-case-of-army-killing-civilian-and-presenting-him-as-a-guerrilla

A seventeen year old boy has been killed by Army troops before being falsely referred to as a guerrilla killed in combat. The Colombian Army has been responsible for killing more than 5,000 civilians in this way in a practice that is known in Colombia as ‘false-positives’. This latest killing comes after a new report found that the Armed Forces had killed twelve civilians in 2012 who were later presented as guerrillas. The Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos refuses to recognise that the practice continues as part of attempts to cleanse the image of Colombia’s Armed Forces.Anison Cardoso Florez was out hunting a Guagua – a typical Colombian animal – with his brother when he was shot dead on 4 June 2013 by the troops from the Batallion Energetico #5 from the Municipality of Bagre in Antioquia. His brother managed to escape. Claims that the young peasant farmer was a guerrilla were immediately ridiculed by those who knew him as Anison was an active member of his community and the local rural organisation AHERAMIGUA and he had rarely spent any time away from his village. This latest killing has confirmed what Colombian human rights organisations have been reporting on repeated occasions: that the Army practice of ‘false-positives’ continues

The head of Israel’s Mossad, Tamir Pardo, met secretly with the Turkish intelligence agency’s undersecretary, Hakan Fidan, on June 10 in Ankara, with Syria and Iran on the agenda.Pardo requested an appointment to meet with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Erdoğan, however, has not yet responded to this request. Fidan and Pardo shared information about the latest situation in Syria as well as the influence of Iran in the country. They also discussed intelligence sharing between the two countries at the meeting, which came before a significant meeting on the fate of Syria, the Geneva II summit set to take place in July. The sources also claimed to have information that Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the Syrian intelligence unit, al-Mukhaberat, are working against Turkey.Fidan and Pardo also reprotedly discussed the ongoing protests in Turkey, which started two weeks ago to oppose a development project in Istanbul’s Taksim Gezi Park and spread to the other parts of the country.

Canada versus the UN
Nidhi Tandon (2013-04-17)

cc A K
The UN Special Rapporteur Olivier De Schutter exposed the ‘appallingly poor’ record of the Canadian government on the abuse of the rights of Canada’s indigenous peoples. In a vengeful and contemptuous response the Canadian government withdrew from a United Nations convention that fights droughts and desertification.

Embassy Describes Israel as Main Organizer of Anti-Iran Conventions in Baku
News number: 9107160914 14:42 | 2013-04-15

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Embassy in Baku said Israel is orchestrating
anti-Iran conventions in the Azeri capital, and further warned Tel Aviv
against plots to disrupt the friendly relations between the neighboring
countries of Iran and Azerbaijan.Last month, the so-called Convention of the South Azerbaijan National
Liberation Movement was held in Baku and some of the participants expressed
hostile remarks against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

ZIONAZI SHLOMO AT INSS ADVOCATES ARMING REBELS IN SYRIA TO BRING ASSAD DOWN... Shlomo Brom advocates arming the Syrian rebels to bring Assad down
Some in Israel may feel that the current civil war in Syria serves Israel’s
interests because it keeps Syria from representing a serious military
threat. However, Syria stopped being a significant military threat to Israel
some time ago, whereas the ongoing civil war can only increase the risk of
military threats of a different kind, if Syria becomes a failed state, which
would impact negatively on regional stability. Thus, it is in Israel’s
interest that the civil war end as soon as possible and that a central,
moderate Islamic regime take control of the country. The question then is:
how does one break the military stalemate between the regime and the rebels
in favor of the moderate rebels, thereby creating an opportunity for a
decision in the military struggle or, alternately, promoting a political
resolution? While Israel cannot do this, it is important that decision
makers in Israel understand the options and deliberate them with allies in
the international community. In order of escalation, the options for breaking the stalemate are: liftingthe West’s embargo on supplying the rebels with arms, establishing no-fly
zones for the Syrian air force, and providing the rebels with aerial
support.
In conclusion, the extension of the fighting in Syria does not serve Israel’s
interests. Lifting the embargo on supplying the moderate factions with
weapons would seem to be the only realistic option for breaking the military
stalemate, thereby helping bring an end to the crisis that is not yet in
sight.

Losing hearts and minds – the ‘dangerous price of ignoring Syria’?
President Obama has “doggedly resisted” US engagement in Syria, despite the killing of over 70,000 and the plight of over a million refugees, says a prominent analyst and former administration official.
[ed note:the above is pure bs!!!
“That is because Syria challenges a central aim of Obama’s foreign policy: shrinking the U.S. footprint in the Middle East and downplaying the region’s importance to global politics,”writes Vali Nasr, dean of the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. “Doing more on Syria would reverse the U.S. retreat from the region.”Washington is providing considerable amounts of humanitarian assistance,(ed note:weapons, technology, and logistics) reports suggest.“Yet because of security concerns, the United States can’t advertise its successes, undermining what has always been regarded as one of the goals of American aid: to win hearts and minds,” The Washington Post’s Liz Sly, reports from Aleppo:It is a battle the United States appears to be losing. On a two-day visit to the unnamed international agency’s projects in the province of Aleppo, it was clear that Syrians don’t know that the United States is helping them and that hostility toward the United States is deepening. But among Western donors, “there is no doubt that America has taken the lead,” according to Wissam Tarif, who oversees the provision of aid for the Syrian Opposition Coalition. “And for the U.S., it shows courage to be pushing organizations to operate in this area.”Analysts believe that the Western democracies’ reluctance to provide military assistance (ed note;allows them plausible deniability) isgiving a clear advantage to violent Islamists, the Muslim Brotherhood and other illiberal forces at the expense of Syrian moderates and liberals.(ed notes:us allowed its allies to use violent etxremist factions and jihadists to destroy and disintegrate the states infrastructure,(moderates and so called liberals couldnt achieve that goal)wich will require later western loans to rebuild,if Assad is overthrown)
[[[[[[[[[[“It is time the U.S. took over from Qatar and Saudi Arabia in organizing the Syrian opposition into a credible political force — failure to do that accounts for the chaos that has paralyzed the group,” writes Nasr, author of the forthcoming book The Dispensable Nation: American Foreign Policy in Retreat.]]]]]“America should build ties with the Free Syrian Army with the goal of denying extremist groups the ability to dominate the armed resistance and gaining influence with groups that will dominate Syria’s future,” he argues. “It was failing to build those ties in Afghanistan that allowed the resistance groups who opposed the Soviet Union to disintegrate into the Taliban and Al Qaeda.”
