Supporting the Palestinian people during the World Social Forum Free Palestine, in Porto Alegre (RS), departed came not only from adults. On Friday (30), a group of children from the Movement of Landless Rural Workers (MST) held a rally in solidarity with the Palestinian children.The children are students of the New School Society, located in a settlement in Nova Santa Rita (RS).During the ceremony, they presented poems and songs written especially for the Palestinians.Moreover, handed shirts, photos, letters and drawings produced by MST schools across the country, to be sent to which Palestinian children are held in Israeli jails."The Palestinian children should know that on the other side of the world, have children who care for them," said Deusamar, the education sector MST in ParáThe material was delivered to Palestinian activists present at the Forum. Upon receiving the letters, the president of the Campaign for the Liberation of the Israeli Prisons, Abla Sa'adat, thanked the support of Brazilian organizations and stressed the importance of the initiative.
"This is a gesture that seems small but it means a lot to us," he said. To reciprocate the action, the Palestinians presented him the school with a flag of Palestine.According Abla, who is also the wife of activist and political prisoner Ahmad Sa'adat, about 600 Palestinian children are arrested every year by the Israeli army for reasons such as throwing stones at soldiers(occupying Palestinian territories).
Currently, there are 250 minors in prison (some only 10 years old), suffering the same treatment as adults.The World Social Forum Free Palestine was held in the state capital between November 28 and December 1. About 5000 people from 36 countries participated in the activities, which reaffirmed the rights of the Palestinian people and the need to end the Israeli occupation
