Brazil's Human Rights Plan Angers Military Leaders

A plan of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's government to investigate human rights abuses during the military dictatorship (1964-1985) has angered Brazil's military leaders, Brazilian newspapers reported Wednesday.

O Globo, a newspaper from Rio de Janeiro, carried the headline "Military crisis forces Lula to reconsider decree." The paper explained that the military said they were angry with a part of the program which includes measures that could lead to the conviction of officers from the military period.

comment-it is a known fact that some military officials and commanders in the  brazilian armed forces, were around at time of the military dictatorship when then president joao goulart, was overthrown by a coup instigated and supported by washington(plan operation condor). These people were trained by school of americas, and have managed to escape prosecution and accountability for their part.If lula buckles under pressure, and does allow the investigations ,to exempt, their role in the coup, then it will be a travesty of justice and a huge diservice to what he initially set out to do.This investigation must expose us governments role and whatever military brasilian officials were implicated. No less will suffice. Also see this...

Colombia: who killed Gov. Cuéllar, and why?

Campaign for release of political prisoners in Colombiaña-por-la-liberación-de-los-presos-políticos-en-colombia-334

7500, mostly prisoners of conscience and social activists - when they are workers, peasants, indigenous students fighting for a worthy Colombia, with peace and social justice

Following the attacks of 11 September 2001 in New York, United States devised and imposed "Plan Colombia", which officially is a comprehensive development program designed to solve the Colombian internal conflict, but actually seeks to annihilate all political opposition and social development in the country and serves the economic interests of the private sector. After coming to power in 2002, Álvaro Uribe Vélez authoritarian running quickly put his "democratic security policy" true war strategy that has a network of one million informants, private security companies and peasant-soldiers, which leads to a criminalization of critical thinking, strengthening the Criminal Code, massive raids in towns and camps, detention and imprisonment, often without a warrant or evidence, if not wholly made, thousands of leaders and activists of movements agricultural workers and students and human rights defenders. Thus, on the basis of assembly of military intelligence and police, backed most of the time by the prosecutor, was built around a system of repressive justice side without jurisdiction or competence.

The prison policy in Colombia deliberately seeks the destruction, disruption and isolation of the social and political protest opposing the neoliberal and repressive government. Detention conditions in Colombian prisons are inhumane. Prisoners die of starvation or cold, depending on the region. Inmates sick or elderly die from lack of or inadequate care. Babies under 3 years are imprisoned with their mothers. These inhumane conditions and regular use of torture to induce farmers, indigenous students to accept unjustified accusations and judgments.

Criminal neglect

"The tools Israel musters in its relations with Washington are well known: an extremely effective lobby that is backed by a wealthy and influential American Jewish community and that works hard to establish influence with each new Congress and administration; close military-security-intelligence relations based on a communality of interests and shared regional threat assessments--once regarding the Soviets, now the Iranians and militant Islam; the perception of common value-systems; and currently, though not always, a prime minister who knows the American system well...None of these components exists in the US-Palestine relationship."

FDA continues world colonization, opens another international facility in Mexico

I find it fascinating that the FDA is opening "safety" offices around the world, and yet at the same time it refuses to even conduct safety testing of pharmaceuticals right here in the USA. Did you know that the FDA conducts no tests whatsoever on the drugs it approves? Instead, it relies on drug companies to conduct their own clinical trials, and then the FDA just believes whatever the drug companies say.

Colombian Government pursues to halt Bolivarian Revolution

Chavez affirmed that he has proofs about a false positive being prepared in Colombia. According to him, by means of this practice, young people from shantytowns are kidnapped, killed and then dressed with guerrilla cloths, and they put rifles in their hands to then broadcast the case on television as a success of the Government against the guerrilla movement.

“Our Government neither supports nor allows the entrance of any alien armed force in our territory except our glorious Bolivarian Armed Forces and its militia,” he affirmed.

To Venezuelan soldiers, the President said “You have to be always on the alert, especially in the western frontier. The command in Colombia is no longer in Bogota, but in Washington. From Colombia, the empire is using Colombian military forces to prepare an aggression against Venezuela and you, soldiers from the west, are at the front line of the battle. And I will always be with you, in strategies and tactics.”

“We are compelled to prepare every day more and better for the defense of our Homeland. I hope they will not dare to, but if they dare to attack us they will regret for 500 years,” he added.

The Avatar, Maitreya and our 'New Age' Illuminati Religion

The Avatar, master over the elements, is really Lucifer, the angel of light. Just as the Avatar has power over the 4 elements, Lucifer has power over Satan (also known as the Demi-urge). According to the Illuminati, he will ultimately free us from the physical elements so that we can merge with him as one collective consciousness.  Maitreya also claims the title of "Avatar". He is admittedly the servant of Lucifer inasmuch as his movement's founder, Benjamin Creme, is an admitted Luciferian. Just like Nimrod was a Luciferian- Satanist and his wife as well.'

Chavez Says Colombia Preparing to Attack ‘Fake’ Venezuelan Base

'Colombia is preparing to attack Venezuela in an operation that will be made to look like its objective is a base of Colombian guerrillas, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said    “They say, and many people believe, there are guerrilla bases in our territory supported by the government,” Chavez said, in a speech to troops today that was shown on state television. “They are preparing the terrain to attack Venezuelan territory, simulating an encampment.”    Chavez said Colombia’s military would justify the attack with lies, making reference to a scandal in the neighboring country that came to be known as the “false positives.” Colombia fired at least 27 officers and soldiers a year ago for allegedly killing poor slum-dwellers and dressing them as guerrillas in an attempt to win benefits from the government, prosecutors alleged.'

When you lose the whole shameüenza333?templateId=333

How ironic, that show put on by Álvaro Uribe Velez in Cucuta, one of those most responsible for the climate of social deprivation and predatory violence that continues in the city and chaos on the regional economy. And as such, poses as bearer of peace, ardent patriot and integrationist. This can only occur when everything is lost including his  shame.

Make no mistake our people can not be fooled into believing Uribe represents the country , the same country he has shattered into pieces and  delivered to foreign corporations, covered in blood since it is on behalf of the oligarchy and the American empire. Missing are the stories of the blood toll at the hands of mercenary troops led by the gringos.

He said in Norte de Santander, where the scandal erupted in what they called false positives, which NGOs say data over fifteen hundred each month where dozens of civilians die at the hands of so-called emerging bands(rigthwing paramilitary groups), he says having pardoned more than nineteen thousand paramilitaries who killed hundreds of thousands of Colombians, stole their land, imposed an unforgivable wave of terror inspired by their school of thought that due to his political project all is much better yet the reality is ,that his policies have spread like a fatal plague over the nation.

And what of the paramilitaries who crossed to kill President Hugo Chávez, the police and spies of the DAS captured in Venezuela, the kidnapping of Rodrigo Granda, the paramilitary groups that cross the border, asylum Carmona Estanga. Are these acts of good neighborliness?

What about the fate of Ragonvalia bridges. How many bridges and miles of roads were destroyed by the Air Force bombing in the demilitarized zone with bombs over 500 pounds from Kafir aircraft(kaffir jets are israeli figther jets). They were works built by the FARC-for  the peasants.

Anyone making a serious analysis of the results of the visit know you will not solve anything. The more you win some votes for the referendum and re-election  the more you expose that the Constitutional Court has lost all shame.

Flashback-Colombian Attack in Ecuador in 2008 had U.S. support

Quito, 10 Dec. ABN .- The Colombian bombing at a temporary camp of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in 2008 in Angostura Ecuadorian territory, had the support of strategic intelligence from the U.S. base in Manta .This was confirmed by the Commission on Transparency and Truth or Angostura Commission chaired by Francisco Huerta, created by the government of Ecuador in March to investigate the Colombian attack on Ecuadorian territory bordering Colombia, killing at least 26 people, among them the top leader of FARC, Raul Reyes, and the breaking of relations with Colombia by Ecuador on March 1 of that year, considering President Rafael Correa Colombian aggression as a violation of the sovereignty of Ecuador ."Strategic intelligence processed from the Manta base was essential for monitoring and location of Raul Reyes, a priority target for the government of Colombia,"

the document delivered by President Correa Huerta and the press, after nine long months of investigations, as the BBC reported. In the same report given Thursday to the executive committee says there is no participation from the government of Ecuador on facts related to the FARC. "One can not say under any suspicion, that there are links in the national government with the FARC," the Commission report.

The Erosion & Rotting of a Nation’s Foundation

U.S. taxpayers are spending more than $40,000 per month on office space, staff, cell phones and a leased SUV for former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, even as he works as a lobbyist for private corporations and foreign governments.

Now, this is pretty rotten on its own, but here is why I characterized our lobby-serving anti-public political system rotten, and those crafting and drafting the laws serving this system and themselves, as PSTs: The payments are perfectly legal under a federal law that provides five years of benefits for former speakers — but only if Hastert never makes use of his government-funded perks in the course of his lobbying work. Ethics experts say that sort of separation is hard to maintain.  Hastert “has to be meticulous in his schedule to make sure there is no bleed from his publicly subsidized office into his private practice,” said Kenneth Gross, a former Federal Election Commission general counsel and congressional ethics authority. Steve Ellis, vice president of the watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense, called the arrangement “really concerning.”  “It is specifically prohibited — federal dollars can’t be spent on lobbying operations,” Ellis said. “We are paying for his staff [and] for a car, and we need to be very sure that he isn’t spending a dime of that money on lobbying operations. “That all needs to be above board, in the clear and transparent. And it’s not.”

Chavez says Obama illusion over

Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez said in a New Year’s message the “illusion” around President Barack Obama was over and rich nations had left the world on the verge of ecological disaster.

“Let’s not kid ourselves: the Obama illusion has finished, and the shameless interventionism of the American administration shows that,” wrote Chavez. Having opposed the Copenhagen climate change summit’s final agreement as a behind-doors deal between major powers that ignored nations on the margins, Chavez said rich nations were making a mockery of U.N. principles of equality. “Those leaving us on the verge of an unimaginable ‘ecocide,’ those who caused climate change, should be forced to accept their responsibilities,” he said.

Time Magazine reporters Tim Burger and Tim Padgett had an opportunity to speak at length with Mr. Gonzalez and several other veteran DEA agents with direct knowledge of a major corruption case involving several DEA agents on drug traffickers' payrolls in Colombia. The involved corrupt US officers were also directly involved in helping Colombia's paramilitary death squads launder drug proceeds.

Further presented was the documented cover up of this major scandal by the DEA and DOJ IG offices. Despite corroboration by a number of other sources, including several veteran DEA agents and other government officials with first-hand knowledge of the case, and documented evidence disclosed and provided, and despite being given an 'exclusive' to the story as insisted on by them, Time Magazine never published the story, and no reasons were ever provided.

One Day We’ll All Be Terrorists

Our descent is the familiar disease of decaying empires. The tyranny we impose on others we finally impose on ourselves. The influx of non-Muslim American activists into these facilities is another ominous development. It presages the continued dismantling of the rule of law, the widening of a system where prisoners are psychologically broken by sensory deprivation, extreme isolation and secretive kangaroo courts where suspects are sentenced on rumors and innuendo and denied the right to view the evidence against them. Dissent is no longer the duty of the engaged citizen but is becoming an act of terrorism.

U.S. Intelligence Found Iran Nuke Document Was Forged

U.S. intelligence has concluded that the document published recently by the Times of London, which purportedly describes an Iranian plan to do experiments on what the newspaper described as a "neutron initiator" for an atomic weapon, is a fabrication, according to a former Central Intelligence Agency official. Philip Giraldi, who was a CIA counterterrorism official from 1976 to 1992, told IPS that intelligence sources say that the United States had nothing to do with forging the document, and that Israel is the primary suspect. The sources do not rule out a British role in the fabrication, however.

System change not climate change

A capitalist economic system dependent on fossil fuels and the exploitation of natural resources to generate profit has left people and ecosystems across large parts of the planet – including swathes of Africa – vulnerable to climate change, Ama Biney writes in this week’s Pambazuka News. The ‘derisory’ funding developed nations have offered to ‘assist developing countries to adapt to climate change’ is not enough to solve the problem, Biney argues. The real focus, says Biney, should be on ‘transforming the exploitative, unsustainable, profit-driven ethos that underpins the current system of wealth accumulation that simultaneously damages the environment’.

Colombia-2009: Games overshadow Uribe government spies

The Colombians were seen this year from one of the most notorious scandals in the country's institutions, following in early 2009 revealed that the Department of Administrative Security (DAS) conducted illegal spying. Judges, politicians, former government officials, opponents, journalists, human rights activists and NGOs were subjected to illegal surveillance by the secret police, directly subordinated to the presidency.  The disclosure of interception of telephones and emails were made by the Week magazine in February. Since then its been exposed over the year the controversy on the aims pursued by the DAS agents to commit such unlawful and even the need to transform or even to remove the body.  The opposition is in full swing and several victims of the espionage directly blamed the problem on President Álvaro Uribe, who rejected the allegations, but the no doubt persists since it appears he was who ordered the wiretapping communications.  Amid the controversy, the authorities claimed that DAS was infiltrated by drug mafias and paramilitary groups and even, in the version of the then defense minister and now presidential candidate, Juan Manuel Santos, to foreign governments benefited from the leakage information.  Meanwhile, concerns increased by Colombian society after it was disclosed with the passing weeks and months new evidence on these systematic practices illegal, came to ligth and the truth gained in intensity.  Several legislators took the case to the Organization of American States and UN bodies to the seriousness of the problem, described by many as the worst scandal in the democratic history of Colombia.  According to the opposition Liberal Party, there were hundreds of Colombians who for more than five years have been subjected to surveillance, inspection and control without any legal authorization by the DAS In their persons, in their homes and family relationships have been followed. members of the opposition and judges,an atrocity which he said that the party policy was  to denounce to the international community He even claimed that the presidential campaign of 2006 was subjected to a systematic dirty war cited by the intelligence agency.  Consistent with the revelations, the candidates of the last presidential campaign were the subject of continuous monitoring, to the point that their phones activated an alarm to the DAS agents began to intercept.  The scandal became so great in resonance in Colombia it forced the government to undertake to ensure the integrity and security of the judges of the High Courts and prevent the recurrence of incidents such as the wiretapping done against some of the judges and politicians.   Uribe called for intelligence reform the institution in an attempt to alleviate the concerns and dilute the scandal amid soaring Colombian reality.  However, some analysts and the media did not escape the fact that the president didnt seek to eliminate the organism .It produced within days , one statement made by the U.S. State Department on the issue of illegal wiretapping.  Previous to that statement, the Colombian president had not seemed interested in removing the intelligence service, but in preserving it. The truth is that DAS, created at the end of the decade of the 50s of last century, and is directly answerable to the presidency, is still active.  While some heads began to roll in the body, some managers resigned and hundreds of officers were called as witnesses, and even investigated by the prosecution, so far it is unknown who is behind what is known here as chuzudas'''' .  Scandal that permeated even the national border in recent weeks, following complaints from neighboring countries like Ecuador and Venezuela around several of its institutions were illegally infiltrated and monitored by DAS agents, raising diplomatic tensions.  For many analysts and observers consulted by Prensa Latina, all indications lead to the head of state because a surveillance operation of such magnitude requires a direct order from the Casa de Nariño, which the image and credibility of the government is challenged before the national and global public opinion.

Weapons to defend sovereignty is a priority, says MoD report

If Colombia is not updated in the purchase of weapons deterrent over the next five years, will remain at high risk of facing a foreign military attack, reveals the document.

The document sets forth also a kind of 'shopping list' unavoidable: "We must move forward in strengthening the capacities for surveillance, border control and satellite monitoring, as well as mobility and coverage contramovilidad (...) Buying equipment against chemical and biological weapons and air defense, including weapons, surveillance equipment and early warning. " Also covers aircraft and frigates upgrade engines, acquiring defensive capability against armored vehicles and even a 'surgery' to the present organization of the Armed Forces: Moving from the Divisions and Commands Set to "theaters of operations that would be activated only in case of aggression external ".

The blog of the future of the Armed Forces also appear peacekeeping missions abroad (such as those already in the Sinai and Haiti) and operations such as multinational forces under negotiation for Afghanistan.

Large shipping vessels owned by globalist corporations are used to deliver slave labor goodies from China 'Large shipping vessels have become commonplace in today’s global marketplace as goods are imported and exported across the world. While the high levels of pollution they create are something that most people don’t think too much about, some scientists are beginning to evaluate their environmental effect. One of the most disturbing facts discovered about these giant ships is that a mere 16 of them emit as much sulfur as do all the cars in the world combined.'

Gaza One Year On: 'Punish, humiliate, terrorize'

As the one year anniversary of Israel's attack on the Gaza Strip is marked, it is vital to re-examine Operation Cast Lead within the wider context of Israel's approach to both Gaza and the Palestinians. There is a danger that the scale of the devastation and the international protests which followed the war can deflect attention from the broader Israeli policies of collective punishment and deliberately-engineered socio-economic collapse. The first important part of this context for both before - and since - Israel's attack on the Gaza Strip is the crippling blockade.

Northwest Bomb Plot 'Oddities'

'Write a book critical of the CIA -- you cannot fly. Carry explosives (allegedly from Yemen) on board when the US is trolling for an excuse to invade and occupy Yemen for its oil -- yes you can! The US needs false flags to provide cover for illegal invasions and occupations. The 9/11 terrorist attacks (aka inside job, six ways to Sunday) worked well for the US government; the security-industrial complex made billions and US corporaterrorists were able to negotiate the wholesale theft of Iraq's oil.'

Brain Scanning May be Used in Security Checks

'Distinctive brain patterns could become the latest subject of biometric scanning after EU researchers successfully tested technology to verify identities for security checks. The experiments, which also examined the potential of heart rhythms to authenticate individuals, were conducted under an EU-funded inquiry into biometric systems that could be deployed at airports, borders and in sensitive locations to screen out terrorist suspects.

Islamophobia and the American Presidency

"The Islamophobic discourses underlying the 2008 election weren’t novel or newfangled, but they did reinvigorate dormant or tacit narratives of American nationhood as a domain of restricted access. These narratives of nationhood are replete with nostalgia and the implicit belief that a true American is somebody who is white and Christian. Islamophobia has become an acute element of America’s national identity."

Absurd Florida lawsuit against Colombian rebels

In a bizarre twist, the lawsuit also targets about 100 Colombians who are alleged to be FARC members, including Ricardo Palmera and Anayibe Rojas Valderrama, (also know as Sonia.) Ricardo Palmera is the well-known FARC peace negotiator, who is currently being held in the Colorado Super Max. Sonia is being held in a Texas prison. The National Committee to Free Ricardo Palmera has campaigned for the immediate release of both prisoners. "The mercenaries went to another country to fight in a civil war. They were helping to keep Colombia's death squad government in power and ending up getting caught. They now are using the U.S. court system to attack the FARC, an organization that is fighting for freedom and justice in Colombia," says Tom Burke.

US Aids S. Sudan Secession

The United States is pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into the pocket of South Sudan government to help it prepare for secession from the North.”The United States government, one of their goals now, is to make sure southern Sudan in 2011 is a viable state,” Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, representative of South Sudan in Washington, told The Washington Times Friday, December 25. Washington offers $1 billion in annual aid to South Sudan.

A $100m Bad Idea Then, a $650m Bad Idea Now

With the US government’s popularity ratings at all-time lows across the region, it should have been clear that a government propaganda arm would have trouble being respected as a legitimate news source. Al Hurra remains a 'bad idea' that failed, but it will be around for at least another year, notes James J Zogby.

The US government-funded TV network Al Hurra was intended to be an important component of American efforts to win hearts and minds in the Arab world. It was a bad idea when it was launched in 2004. It has failed, and yet it won’t die. This month the US Congress approved another $112 million to fund al Hurra in 2010, making the “bad idea’s” cost to date for American taxpayers more than $650 million.A year before the network was launched, its founder came to see me to convince me of the value of his idea. I listened, but was not convinced.

“[Palestinian] houses are being demolished and agriculture is being destroyed in order to force Palestinians to flee,” Nasrallah said.“We call on the [Islamic] Ummah to show vigilance against the real nature of the hegemony and not be tricked by the rhetoric and pledges of freedom, democracy and human rights,” the Hezbollah chief added.  “We condemn the American plots and the crimes committed by the US administration in Iraq and Afghanistan and we condemn the US participation in Israeli crimes in Palestine and Lebanon,” Press TV quoted Nasrallah as saying.

’Israel resembles a failed state’

| One year after Israel’s Operation Cast Lead, the conditions of Palestinians in Gaza have not improved; in many respects things may seem even more dire, as hopes of a serious peace effort have been dashed. However, it would be a mistake to miss the more dynamic situation that suggests Israel’s power and impunity are not as invulnerable as they might appear. Ali Abunimah focuses on the silver lining around the cloud, not least that of an unbroken and still vibrant Palestinian resistance.

Israel: racketeering, gangsterism, fierce colonialism

The right-wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu, in fact, continues to build homes for Jews in Jerusalem and in the Palestinian territories it goes ahead with the wall wich is destroying Palestinian houses and orchards, continues with its policies of aggression and gangsterism, targeted assassinations and kidnappings of people whose only weapons are ideas. To make matters worse, unlike what happened with apartheid South Africa, there are no sanctions against Israel or U.S. or international community.

The Netanyahu government takes and continues with plans to convert the Palestinian territories into as many Bantustans as it can, just as happened to  South Africans, separated by roads, walls, extremist Jewish settlers.

"Doubts about FARC responsible for the crime is insulting the Governor," says defense minister

The defense minister, Gabriel Silva, referred to the Agency's information center Anncol, who often plays the positions of the FARC wich were replicated by the Venezuelan channel Telesur.

Silva said "these concerns are almost insulting, to the horrific death of Governor Luis Francisco Cuellar

Anncol ensures that it spoke to a FARC commander and it was  confirmed that the group was not responsible for the murder. But it also stated that the slain leader, despite being a civilian and in the state of helplessness in which he was killed, allegedly he was not protected by the rules of international humanitarian law because of his official capacities . According to the UNDP, Cuellar was a legitimate military target by being a "member of the State institutions.

The agency also mentioned that he(Cuellar) had been summoned to the Prosecutor's Office to give a deposition over his role in 'para-politics' scandal.

Sources familiar with the investigation told the newspaper that while the governor was being investigated for  alleged ties to the AUC, all signs still point to the case the 'Teofilo Forero'.

comment-the sources familiar with investigation are, the lead investigating agency DAS. heres their statement from another source concerning cuellars death... Information  National Director of the Department of Administrative Security (DAS), Felipe Munoz, said "In our intelligence activities we realize that this (FARC)is the group responsible, in particular alias 'Egg' and alias 'Nicuro' who not only Planned and executed this crime, also others more appalling. "

comment-some backround on this parapolitics scandal

On [November 21, 2006, Rafael García Torres, the former Information Technologies Chief of the Administrative Department of Security (DAS) (Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad) was questioned by the Supreme Court after being arrested and charged with taking bribes from paramilitaries and narcotraffickers in exchange for erasing or altering their judicial history from the state intelligence database. García claimed to have knowledge of Jorge 40's plans to corrupt congressmen and install those friendly to his causes.

comment-after years of DAS scandals some involving US GOVERNMENT and DAS,only now does US  GOV cut funds to DAS.This is of course because numerous ngos started exposing the relationship between both and DAS other activities.

The new DAS scandal

The DAS is still recording

Between the 19th and 21st of January, most of the “secrets” of many of Colombia’s top personalities were destroyed on the 11th floor of the main DAS headquarters. “We received the order to gather everything we had in several offices in the building, and in other buildings, and bring it to the Counter-Intelligence office. For two days external disk drives were gathered, hard drives were changed out of computers, CDs, voice files and confidential documents were collected. I alone, without counting my colleagues, carried two boxes full of those things,” one of the DAS detectives who participated in this unique collection told Semana. “Of all the boxes that were taken to Counter-Intelligence, with documents, recordings and the rest, only one remained, which was taken out of the 11th floor at the end of the afternoon of Wednesday the 21st. I don’t know what was left in that one, or where they took it. I just know that everything else was destroyed,” the source affirms.

The suspicious mission of recovering and destroying information was carried out by a small group of officials. Though they sought to do it in the most discrete manner, it was inevitable that a few DAS members would notice the unusual things going on during those days. But what was it that they were destroying with such urgency? Much of the files that don’t exist today were, among others, recordings, secret documents and intelligence analyses that contained information about a wide variety of personalities whom the DAS was watching.

Supreme Court justices, journalists, opposition politicians, generals in the armed forces, prosecutors, and even some high government officials made up the group that, for the past several months, was being monitored by the security body.

comment-the DAS in  Colombia is now leading investigations,or rather blaming Farc for the death of governor Cuellar, even thougth DAS and governor Cuellar were involved in the parapolitics scandals that showed both had ties to AUC.The question now,is,why is DAS leading investigations into this incident after so many scandals ?For starters DAS has ties to AUC,and that was revealed in one such scandal.why would anyone trust DAS?its easy for DAS to blame FARC,but you can bet it wont  investigate wether AUC killed Cuellar, for fear Cuellar would sing in the investigations being conducted by bogotas attorney general into the governors role in the earlier parapolitics scandal that had been restarted since march..

Colombia: ex-para names US banana companies in murder of trade unionists

How creditors decide the fate of the Congo

The 19 creditor nations that make up the Paris Club [1] met on 18 November to consider the case of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) after two reports related to the review of the very controversial Chinese contract. This contract, mortgage giant quantities of minerals in favor of China in exchange for building infrastructure in the DRC, might finally be revised in the direction desired by the lender of Western funds represented by the IMF [2].L’ingérence sournoise du FMI et de la Banque mondiale en République démocratique du Congo" , por Renaud Vivien, Yvonne Ngoyi, Victor Nzuzi, Dani Ndombele, José Mukadi et Luc Mukendi, Réseau Voltaire, 8 octobre 2009.

Following this, the matter seemed settled: the Paris Club would provide the financial guarantees requested by the IMF to conclude a new three-year program with the Congolese government from now until the end of 2009 and delete the beginning of 2010 an important part of public external debt. Far from it! The Paris Club decided to turn "punish" the DRC is demanding the maintenance of two one-sided contracts signed with Western transnationals.

The Paris Club proves once again that is a body governed by the North in which the South not only play a walk-on. No member of the Congolese government was invited to the discussions made at Bercy, the French Ministry of Finance, or has established the Paris Club. This club is defined as a "non-institution", having no legal personality. The advantage is clear: the Paris Club does not incur any liability with regard to their actions and therefore can not be prosecuted in court because it officially does not exist!

However, their decisions have serious consequences for the populations of Third World because it is in their midst that is decided, in concert with the IMF and World Bank, that an indebted country of the South "deserves" a rescheduling or debt relief. When he gives the green light, the country concerned, where isolated in the face of this united front of creditors, should apply neoliberal measures dictated by lenders of funds, whose interests overlap with the private sector.

But in reality, the DRC, like other countries in Africa full of natural resources, is the scene of a fierce competition between Western countries and China, whose appetite continues to grow to the point where today the third largest trading partner for Africa , after the United States and France. The Paris Club is therefore the instrument that Western countries have used, such as Canada and the United States, demanding that the Congolese government that it reverse its decision to terminate the contract giving rise to the consortium Kingamyambo Musonoi Tailings (KMT) and review the agreement creating the Tenke Fungurume Mining (TFM), in which the United States and Canada have important interests.

The lender of funds applicable to Western policy of "two weights, two measures" depending on whether a contract with China or with a Western company. The private sector interests take precedence over considerations of legality and development since the fraudulent nature of these two conventions have been reported by the Commission to "revisit" mining contracts, established in the DRC in 2007 [3]."Au terme de la revisitation, Contrats miniers : 23 maintenus, 14 résiliés, 2 à finaliser", Groupe @venir CD, 16 novembre 2009

The northern states are served in the Paris Club and international financial institutions, which are over-represented, as a Trojan horse to monopolize the national resources of the South

It was the trio infernal - Paris Club, IMF, World Bank - which since 2002 has organized the bleaching of the odious debt restructuring of the DRC left by the late dictator Mobutu. This was the time to lend money to the government to clear the debts of the old dictator, to allow the transitional government into debt again but by imposing anti-social policies, including a new Mining Code very favorable to corporations.

In 2009, the debt continues to stifle the Congolese people whose human rights are trampled to ensure the repayment of debt service. Despite the impact of listing of creditors that promised debt cancellation by the Congolese, it today stands at 12.3 billion dollars or the equivalent to the sum claimed the DRC at the time of death of Laurent Kabila in 2001. .. That debt is the archetype of an odious debt, void in international law since she was hired by a dictatorship, without benefit to the community and with the complicity of the creditors. The Congolese government could then divorce her, which would allow it also does not accept the dictates of the Paris Club.

For the CADTM, the blackmail of the Paris Club is not a surprise: this instance is illegitimate, since its creation at the same time judge and party. It should therefore simply be abolished, and the debt of the DRC.

Meanwhile, the Congolese government should unilaterally suspend payment of the debt, the example of Ecuador in November 2008 and Argentina in 2001 had decreed the most important suspension of payment of foreign debt in history, more than 80 billion dollars both in relation to private creditors as compared to the Paris Club, and that no reprisals would take place.

The economic crisis requires strong and immediate action against the debt and the benefit of people. To do so, the South would have an interest in forming a united front for non-payment of debt.

USA Spends Trillion Dollars to Make Terrorist War Last Forever

“They spent a trillion dollars to add more fuel to the fire of the terrorist war. The Americans crushed Iraq and Afghanistan . There are too many people in these two countries who lost their homes, jobs and loved ones because of the USA, and those people are ready to do anything to harm the Americans. Washington will have to pay for this politics. As for the situation in other countries, one may say that there is no country in the world that can defend itself against terrorist attacks. Recent attacks in India’s Mumbai prove that,” the expert said.

History Repeats the Same Old Lies

'So as Queen Elizabeth II pays tribute to British troops she continues an old tradition: giving the official seal of approval to Western involvement in the drugs trade. Although of course, no one will say as much but that is what Western forces are in Afghanistan for. It’s also no coincidence that Helmand Province has seen some of the hardest fighting and where British forces have their biggest base. For Helmand is the very heartland of Afghanistan’s poppy production and Camp Bastion is there to ensure it continues.  It’s not just ‘foreign policy’ however but a lucrative business where vast amounts of money can be made. What’s more none of it need be accounted for, which is why it is so appealing to the West’s ruling elite. Vast amounts of money can be made and used to finance secret ‘Black Budget’ projects, which needn’t be accounted for or even known about. All Queen Elizabeth II has to do is make a few fine sounding noises to cover what is essentially a criminal enterprise.'

Chevron Using Six Public Relations Firms to Discredit Indigenous Groups In $27.3 Billion Environmental Case In Ecuador

'Chevron has retained at least twelve public relations firms and lobbyists to discredit claims of Amazon indigenous groups on the eve of an expected multi-billion dollar judgment against the oil giant in an environmental lawsuit in Ecuador, according to representatives of the tribes in the U.S. Although Chevron is near the top of the list of highest-spending lobbyists in Washington, the campaign seems to be backfiring. Politico, one of the most influential publications on Capitol Hill, reported this week that Chevron's lobbying was "drawing fire from environmentalists, media ethicists, state pension funds, New York's attorney general, members of Congress, and even Barack Obama when he was a Senator".'
