Wahhab Meets Zasypkin: Afraid of Syria’s Afghanization
The Arab Tawhid Party leader former Minister Wiam Wahhab stressed Monday that Russia is firm in its position regarding the Syria developments.During a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, Wahhab viewed that "Moscow is capable of finding an exit strategy within an international consensus.""This comes in the framework of international equations that turned to a fait accompli," he confirmed. In parallel, the former minister expressed his fears on Lebanon from the Syrian repercussions. He further slammed the policy of many countries, especially the United States, that shows no interest in the chaos in Syria and its effects on Lebanon. Moreover, he feared the "Afghanization" of Syria, and warned that "such a scenario would prove too expensive for the world to pay." In this context, Wahhab reminded of what had the international Afghanis or the so-called Arab Afghanis made as part of terrorism. "Our daily scenes prove that they do not believe in dialogue, but rather with blaspheming the other, which is away from our Islamic beliefs and traditions," the minister said.
He also warned all those delusional sides, betting on the results of the Syrian crisis by saying: "The international equation remains in place until further notice and until the American is convinced that an exit of violence must emerge because violence benefits no one."
