Mancuso confessed that the Colombian Army and helped with their operations DAS http://www.telesurtv.net/noticias/secciones/nota/70580-NN/mancuso-confeso-que-ejercito-colombiano-y-das-colaboraron-con-sus-operaciones/

Former Colombian paramilitary leader, Salvatore Mancuso, said Wednesday that Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) maintained an alliance with the Colombian Army, the Department of Administrative Security (DAS) and the Prosecutor in order to fight the guerrillas Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Mancuso confessed to having collaborated with the general (r) Ivan Ramirez Quintero, commander of the First Army Division in Santa Marta, in joint operations and, moreover, that DAS received information about raids and arrests against members of the rebel group.

According to the paramilitary leader between 1996 and 1997 there were carried out operations against the National Liberation Army (ELN) and FARC, with the assistance of the Armed Forces. Mancuso said that the participation of General Ramirez was important for "the realization of its objectives to pursue guerrilla groups in the region." He noted the former deputy director of the DAS José Miguel Narváez and a soldier named Gomez Mendez. Mancuso said this aid was important as they had influence before  demobilized in 2003.

Retired General Ivan Ramirez is on trial for his alleged role in the retaking of the Palace of Justice 24 years ago where civilians were killed and 11 were missing, apparently on orders from the Army. Mancuso was extradited to the United States on May 13, 2008 along with 12 paramilitary for allegedly violating the commitments agreed to in a peace process and continue to traffic drugs from prison in Colombia.

In these peace negotiations, the government says more than 31 thousand AUC combatants demobilized of which about 7 thousand, according to the Organization of American States (OAS), have returned to arms and more than 600 thousand have been killed since then. The Justice and Peace unit of the Colombian prosecutors issued a report which revealed that the AUC paramilitary group made about 30 thousand 500 murders and made another 2 thousand 520 people disappear in 20 years.According to the report about four thousand 112 former AUC combatants claimed to have committed 30 thousand 470 killings between mid-eighties and after  demobilization from 2003.
