The Spring 2010 issue of Presente reported about the accidental discovery of mass graves with 2,000 unidentified bodies outside the Colombian army base in La Macarana, a rural area south of the capital, Bogota. The army has claimed responsibility for the bodies but many questions remain. The bodies are believed to be victims of Colombia's ongoing false positive scandal, in which the School of the Americas-trained Colombian army killed civilians and then disguised them as guerrillas.
