The Spanish journalist David Segarra Saturday praised the character of the Latin American countries condemning th  Israeli attack on the Freedom Flotilla executed on Monday, and stressed the "cowardice" of European governments for comments in warmth over what happened with the group of vessels trying to bring humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

From Valencia (eastern Spain) teleSUR fellow contributor, who was traveling in the boat Mavi Marmara that was attacked early Monday by Israeli troops, said the European Union has been made "ridiculous" for its "cowardice" by   condemning Israeli action '' mildly'', which contrasted with the "strength" of Latin America's. 

In a press conference, Segarra recalled that "there has been an attack against Palestinians but also against the world and against the Organization (NATO North Atlantic Treaty), the UN (United Nations) and all nationalities" who traveled aboard the "Freedom Flotilla." Spanish government claimed to have "abandoned" their citizens (in reference to him and the other two Spanish activists, Manuel Tapial Arau and Laura) to maintain relations with the Israeli government. 

In the operation carried out on Monday, condemned by much of the international community, where seevral were killed, according to Israeli sources, nine people, among which are eight Turkish and one American. Before the deaths, the Turkish government immediately condemned the attack and demanded punishment for those responsible. Meanwhile, U.S. only expressed regret and requested investigations. 

Segarra considered the Israeli attack as "one of its biggest diplomatic blunders in decades," it failed to quell the objective of the humanitarian mission to Gaza and increased "public pressure" and grassroots social movements against the policy that country towards the Palestinian people. Segarra was accompanied by the head of the Journalists Union Valencianos, Joaquim Clemente, the chairman of the multistate teleSUR, Andres Izarra, and his mother Cristina Soler. 

At the hearing, the reporter thanked his family, society Valencia, in teleSUR and Venezuela for their support since the attack was known, to its retention in Israel, his stay in Turkey, and the return to Spain. Regarding the report he performed for teleSUR and had to be suspended due to the attack and seizure of their equipment by the Israeli Army he said it will continue through several Palestinian journalists wich will send you information on the current situation of their people. 

Segarra criticized the Western media that are left locked by the absolute control of the economic powers and stop reporting the real world problems. He called the Turkish journalist killed during the attack of "martyr of journalism," and above this, stressed the importance of teleSUR, "which distinguishes itself from the news agenda of Western chains."
