10 million people could starve to death in West Africa’s arid Sahel region due to a record drought and a shortfall of at least $100 million in international food funds. The humanitarian aid shortfall could have been averted and millions of lives spared if the world’s wealthiest nations would have lived up to their commitments. Not to mention, the neocolonial policies of countries like France are one of the chief underlying causes of the pandemic in the first place.
