Venezuela Commits More Humanitarian Aid for Haiti Than Any Other Country http://venezuela-us.org/2010/07/06/venezuela-commits-more-humanitarian-aid-for-haiti-than-any-other-country/
Two weeks later, Venezuela became the first country to forgive Haiti’s $395-million debt with Petrocaribe, the Caribbean energy alliance. Additionally, Venezuela announced in mid-January the creation of a special plan for the direct supply of oil to Haiti, reported TeleSUR on January 25.
In March at the International Donors Conference Towards a New Future for Haiti, Venezuela offered aid amounting $2.4 billion, more that the United States ($1.2 billion), the European Union ($1.7 billion) and the World Bank ($399 million), reported The Miami Herald.
“It’s a relationship that works,” Haitian Finance Minister Ronald Baudin told The Miami Herald. “During this crisis, they have given us an enormous amount of help and we are grateful for that.”
