Iran on Tuesday deplored human rights records of the United States, Canada, the European Union states and Sweden saying that violations of human rights have reached alarming levels by those states either inside or outside their territories.  'Increasing human rights violation in some Western countries is alarming. In this regard, the US has the largest range of violation of human rights in its record within and outside the country,' Iranian envoy to the Geneva-based Human Rights Council Ali Bahraini said in a meeting to discuss the US human rights record.The U.S.longstanding policy in violating human rights and unconditional support of the tyrannies and also its double-standard human rights policy, have posed real obstacles for promotion and protection of human rights. Presenting the highest number of recommendations to the US delegation in UPR process is the best proof for the gravity of the human rights record of the US. 

'Establishing secret detention centers in various parts of the world and humiliating and torturing detainees by using inhuman interrogating methods such as water boarding; are only examples of human rights violations by the US at international level. 

'At domestic level: adopting so-called counter-terrorism legislations which have violated the basic human rights standards; different forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance against ethnic groups, blacks, immigrants and other vulnerable groups; continuation of depriving indigenous peoples of their rights; violation of minority rights; discriminatory profiling against Muslims, Arab, South Asian, and Middle - Eastern communities; Islamophobia as the most outstanding feature of the government domestic and foreign policy, police brutality, execution of mentally ill people; violations of women’s rights including discrimination based on sex, sexual abuse and being as one of the world’s largest producers, distributors and consumers of child pornography; are obvious and well documented facts.
